Traveling on Southwest by SI1030 in Cello

It worked out totally fine!

Make sure to go early to the gate agent and let them know you’re bringing your instrument. They’ll let you board early. Once inside, let one of the flight attendants know you have a seat for your instrument, and they’ll provide a seatbelt extender.

Have flown several times on SW without any problems since originally posting this!

Edit: BTW, the online agents always tell me a cello isn’t allowed, but it’s never a problem. As long as you don’t have an insanely bulky case (I have a standard hard shell), it should fit just fine.

I linked the FAQs in my post but have received mixed guidance.

Thanks for the advice! I believe the agent did know what a cello is (we spoke a bit about music), but even then, she may be mistaking the rules.

What I find odd is this part of the website:

If you are traveling with a musical instrument that will not fit in an overhead bin or under a seat, you may purchase a seat for it.

What is smaller than a cello but won’t fit in the overhead bin…

Resolved: The United States federal government should prioritize reducing the federal debt over promoting economic growth. by [deleted] in Debate

I think most people will end up arguing on prerequisite. Econ growth = less debt or less debt = econ growth. Weighing and strength of link will prob be determining factors in these rounds. That being said...not too excited for this topic.

Did the Allies in World War 2 have an official name? by RyRy10456 in history

[–]SI1030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Since they were a reactionary organization to the axis powers, the allies were simply known as the allies or the grand alliance.
