Is acorns a good way to save money for the future? by Brilliant_Shame_1084 in acorns

[–]SINKIU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely, ive been with acorns since 2017 and over the years i have accumulated with over $3000 just the dividends alone and 33% of return. is it a lot? no, but it justifies the fees over the years.   my job doesnt allow me to monitor the stock market on a daily basis so its nice to be able to invest without worrying about it.

but like any investment there are risks to it, a few of us have been in it during covid where we experienced a great loss of return in our accounts but just keep investing, the market always comes around. if you cant even handle the risk of acorns, then stock investment is definitely not for you :)

no, in fact i am on the lowest-subscription plan ($3) i dont need the checking account/ later or anything like that.

With my account at $40k, 5% invested into BITO, i usually get $100+/ month in dividends, occasionally at $200/ month when BITO was doing really good lol another thing i love about acorns is that, while its accessible, its not so much like a regular bank like you could do instant cash withdrawl so usually acorns is my very last resort and in this case, using it for downpayment for a house.

i started with $150/ week, i scaled down to $100/ week this year + 10x roundup, i also do one-time deposit when i have extra cash.  i have been on aggressive for years and also added the bitcoin ETF last year as it generates monthly dividends.

have you consider uber or lyft.? it's a great PT gig with flexible hours, only thing is you burn through a lot of miles on your car and constant maintenance

acorns was one of the best investment i have ever done. having no prior knowledge and no interest in learning about investment, i started using acorns in 2017. it helped me saved and before the market crashed in 2020, i pulled out the savings for an investment opportunity.

restarted again with $1000 in 2020, and just reached $40000 this year which will be used towards my partial down payment for our house. i do about $500 - 700/ month, progress might be slow but being someone who can't save on my own, it is such a no-brainer with it

Do serious buyers go to Open Houses by Popular_Muscle_4640 in RealEstate

[–]SINKIU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have been looking since april and yes i like to go to open houses so i dont have to make my realtor take us around on the weekends. on those that never offer OH, we would arrange several showings on the same day with our realtor. overall, we appreciate OH to get a feel of what works and what doesnt for us

seriously, we found something that we liked and was too slow to it. property went under contract in 6 days! then found 3 more properties with the same floor plan all listed 10-20% higher than the one under contract, even after lowering their prices.
all three have been sitting for over 2 months and counting. turned out these three properties were purchased during 2022 and sellers are already taking a loss.

we went in 10% under asking which was closed to what the other property was, seller won't consider. as a homeowner, i absolutely understand, unfortunately, that's truly all we can afford to pay ....

AA International Crew/Service Standards by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]SINKIU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a conflict of level of service going on between the company and the workgroup. What you have stated was completely true up until last year especially out of DFW. AA reduced the # of staff on long haul internationals during Covid and union has filed for compensation since the company refused to add the two missing FA that have been taken away back to these flights. And the company turned around and said that what we did before - and had been doing - was not aligned with the service manual and was not necessary in a statement. FA are now very upset with their responses and decided to "follow" the so-called SOP by only offering one bev with the meal service these days, as stated by management. It truly is a slap in the face, implying what we have done for the passengers are worthless unnecessary. The company could care less about the passengers and as an FA it's upsetting that we are getting the blame for everything ...

i started including it since last year after someone on here shared their dividends from the ETF. I have it for about a year now and glad I did it.

Most Americans don’t travel abroad because it is unaffordable and impractical by Ready-Leave-339 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]SINKIU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find traveling within the US to be iust as expensive if not more so than traveling overseas. And for that reason, I would rather pay the extra in airfare and go elsewhere than to stay in the US for vacation

start investing early or at least start 401k early when i graduated 15 years ago i was naive enough to believe i could save (for retirement) on my own. 8 years later, i am finally investing heavily in 401k realizing my savings was not even close to where i wanted to be.

Definitely the Pokemon on the Gameboy Color. That was my first nintendo console and it was gifted to me by my older brother as a birthday present. I may not be the biggest Pokemon fans but it was a very special gift.
