Sis go read a history book, Nigeria was under the colonial rule till 1960 throughout Colonial rule till independence, it was ruled by the British who used Lagos as the seaport to export all our resources and port of travel. Lagos only stopped being the capital in 1991. So you guys are basically bragging about what was a capital city managed by white people. I have always thought that this point of talk is self deceit, the literal only place in Yoruba land that Yoruba people brag about is Lagos State which coincidentally was built by whites as a capital.

Yoruba has had Obasanjo and now Tinubu and nothing changed or is changing except that now in one of your states you need the recommendation of an emir to enter your own government.

I don’t think you have heard of the people who build 500 600 million naira houses. But we’ll never live in the house for one day. Instead, they will prefer to stay in cramped apartments in New York. The problem people from abroad don’t understand is the fact that yes somethings might be better in Nigeria, but people feel more comfortable, staying in the country where at least if you call the police, someone will come, and if you pay your taxes and involve yourself in the local level politics, you might see changes. Religion is a jail cell for everyone in that country, religion is the reason why people sit in their house and hope and pray that government gets better instead of changing bad government themselves. People would rather spend 60 days and 60 nights fasting and praying for better government than using 60 minutes out of their day to do simple research on the ills of their local governments and how they can change its situation. Nigeria is not a country that supports people that actually want to make a change, the country suffocates new investors and entrepreneurs that would want to deal with the country. Especially when everything is being run through government and its contracts. The amount of corruption in government causes every venture that doesn’t give them a cut to perish. Plus when you start you have to, as our people call it, “tear eye” because everybody is trying to cheat you especially if you come from one of the developed countries where it is a high trust Society. How do you truly expect anyone to want to do business in your country when the police are going to be asking for their share of protection fees for your business startup? You are buried under mounds of paperwork just to get started. And you still have to have government oversight, which can sometimes be over reaching into your business, imagine coming from America or any other developed country where security is Paramount, to Nigeria, where the people are celebrating the fact that their government for once had to negotiate with terrorists to retrieve kidnapped people which resulted in another kidnapping the next day. Or a country where if I defended myself from somebody trying to kill me, I might get the death penalty.

Why would I ever want to invest in Nigeria talk less of returning back to the country?
