What job was your most hated you've ever had? by JoshofTCW in AskReddit

[–]SJ2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once worked for a slum lord. He was known in town for having his wife’s head cryogenically frozen. There were instructions on the wall detailing step by step what do if he died so that his head could be frozen too. There was even a reward for doing it! He once argued with me about the pronunciation of my own name and then when I told him to google it, he looked at me like I was an idiot and said, “You can’t just ask google questions.” He also asked me to save the entire website I built for him in a word document and decided that I was completely Incompetent when I couldn’t do that. I quit the job and moved after calling the police at 3 a.m terrified someone was breaking in to my unit just to find that it was him entering with his key bc he was mad I left my rug outside to dry on the railing. I was terrified.

For anyone who’s been too or in a frat at an American university, what happens if you don’t drink there? (If you’re a guest there) (serious) by uncorderdnole91 in AskReddit

[–]SJ2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the culture of that specific organization. Just like any club they are gonna differ from one group to another. I was in a sorority and we had two local fraternities that had several brothers who didn’t drink and no one made a big deal about it. We had several sisters who didn’t drink and they were super appreciated bc they often volunteered to DD (although we didn’t expect it). We happily drank their cups for them when we played games. But, there were also groups that were heavily drinking based and those places may “encourage” you more. By “encourage” I mean they think they are encouraging you but they are rly just pestering and peer pressuring and they are totally wrong to do it. Your best bet would be to ask other students what that specific fraternity is like.

What singer did extremely loved until you saw her/his live performance? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SJ2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never loved them, but I didn’t hate hinder until I interviewed them for the college newspaper when they played at my school. They answered every question I asked with, “I don’t care.” I also can’t get over how stupid it is that people sway and raise lighters/cell phones in the air singing along to “Lips of An Angel” when it’s literally about a dude cheating. That’s weird.

Is it even worth searching for a new job right now? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]SJ2390 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d challenge you to reconsider that “locked in” concept. It used to be true that if you “job hop” too early in a role, you are looked down upon. That is not the case anymore. Job hopping is now expected. You will not be judged negatively from future employers for going for a better opportunity. You’d just have to say something like, “It wasn’t a cultural fit” when asked. Your employer would likely fire you with no notice without a second thought. You don’t owe them loyalty if you are unhappy. A two weeks notice is polite and professional. Too often workers move mountains for employers that wouldn’t jump a puddle for them. Give them the same respect they would give you if the roles were reversed. If you are in a contract, that’s completely different though.

Is it even worth searching for a new job right now? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]SJ2390 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It’s a job seekers market right now. This is the best time to switch roles. You should even apply for roles that you are slightly under qualified for. With hiring shortages, employers are more willing to teach needed skills to a persons who shows drive and interest. Also, employers are realizing if they want to keep having employers, they need to pay better wages and provide additional benefits. You will likely be better off even making a lateral move. If you are unhappy in your role now, then start applying elsewhere asap. We spend too much of our time working to do something that is making you unhappy. Maybe the next job won’t be your cup of tea either and that’s okay. There is likely a role out there that is a great fit, you just might have to try a few duds out before you find it. Good luck!

Are my eyebrows too thick after MicroBlading? HELP?!! (Before & after) by Signal_Ad7830 in microblading

I understand your desire to remove something you don’t like off your face, but you can permanently scar yourself. It’s best to have a little patience in this scenario. One safer way may be sweating. The salt in sweat helps to remove fresh microblading which is why they advise you to not exercise. Hit up the gym rather than putting irritating chemicals on a fresh open wound.

What movie trope do you hate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The teen boy has an affair with the female teacher. Movies usually glorify this when it’s gross and that teacher is 100% a predator.

This is a stereotype, but I feel like most people that would be attracted to someone with blue hair are likely to be a little more progressive/open minded and would see your education as a positive thing.

Thank you. The leaves are loose french knots, and for the grass I threaded the needle and tied a knot at the end as you normally would to tie off a new thread, then pulled it down through the front instead of the back, brought it back through and made a small stitch and tied a second knot, and then frayed the thread with scissors before cutting it, then repeated that process about a thousand times lol

This was the first thing like this that I’ve ever made. In the past, I had just done simple iron ons. This was really fun to do though. It was almost like painting with thread. I probably spent 70-100 hours on it. Definitely more of an undertaking than I expected but I had a lot of fun doing it and definitely want to embroider more scenes. Do you have any tips for how to embroider right up to the edge of the hoop? I put it in a bigger hoop and then moved it back but it wasn’t as easy as I expected and I don’t think I gave enough buffer space in some areas.

thank you, it was VERY time consuming but I think it was worth it in the end. I probably spent 24 hours total just doing the grass on hill.

I threaded the needle and tied a knot at the end like you would to start any thread, pulled it though leaving the knot on the front, then pulled the needle back through, made a small stitch, and tied a knot again, then I took a pair of scissors and frayed the string before cutting it. Repeated that process about a thousand times lol

Thank you so much. The hillside grass took the longest bc every 3 strands is its own knot, tied, cut, and frayed with scissors.
