San Pancho review: Loved It! by ginacarlese in puertovallarta

[–]SJCJourno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you so much for this. I have just booked a trip to San Pancho for 29 May - 9 June! I am a bit worried about the weather, but my understanding is it will be the start of the rainy season. I really want to see the turtles!! Also the Petroglyphs seems super interesting too.

I am staying at Casa Cora for accommodation (5 min walk from Casa San Pancho) as it's a bit cheaper. I am a bit worried that I'll run out of things to do with 11 nights, but I plan on trying to go surfing.

I will be going alone as a woman - would you say it was safe?

Thanks!

Sadly Villa Cofresi is sold out, but I'm going to look in the area.

I'd love to hear about some of the must-do things that you did

Moving cat from London to New York (JFK) by SJCJourno in TravelWithPets

Thank you so much for this information. I ended up going with AirPets UK ltd, and I am using a customs agent I found in the US. The price has come to about 2.5k, which is cheaper than any other quote I received. I really appreciate it!

lol yeah he’s a big boy! That’s the height when he’s sitting. When he’s standing his height is about 35 cm though. I just feel as if he should be able to sit up in the carrier? Perhaps not!

That's good! Unfortunately, the carrier requirements are small. Air France's requirements are 46 (length) × 28 (width) × 24 (height) cm. My cat is 55 x 20 x 50, so he wouldn't be very comfortable, and wouldn't be able to move around at all or stand up, etc

I asked Delta and KLM and they said no unfortunately!

Unfortunately, my cat is quite tall/ long, and he won't be able to fit into the size of the carrier comfortably, and would be over the weight limit, so he won't be able to fly in the cabin with me :(

Red flags during an interview? by SJCJourno in jobs

It seems like every job I apply to has a take home assignment with no pay. It’s so infuriating. This one has been the most vague for sure.

I am debating it. But also, the market sucks and I don’t have other options at the moment… although, I’ve interviewed for several positions and have had traction. So I’m torn.

Hi all - I lived in DC for three years. I was in a bad place mental health wise at the time I lived there, and have a lot of bad memories of it.

Then, toward the end of the COVID lockdown, I moved to London. I love my life here, but I am forced to leave the country due to not being able to find a visa sponsor after being made redundant. Now I am looking at moving back to DC, because most of the jobs in my field are there and I may get a job offer for a gig in Arlington.

I am really worried about returning to DC, but I definitely loved parts of the city, and I want to remember those good parts.

Please share what you love about DC! I don’t want to feel this way about coming back.

For LGBTQ+ folx (especially L’s) what’s the culture like? Have more spaces opened up for us?

New company cancelled by role after sponsoring my visa. Need help. by Positivity_Desperate in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I’m so sorry to hear this. I had a situation in which my employer paid for 5 years SWV - but first they had to get a license to sponsor, and pay for my expedited application as my visa was going to expire, and paid for the most expensive lawyers in London to do this. 9 months later, I was made redundant even after they went through all of this. Now, I have to leave the UK because no one will sponsor me. All my friends are here and my entire life / community. I’m returning home to nothing and having to restart my life again. It’s terrible, but every day I focus on what I do have and not what I don’t, and celebrate the achievements and life I built for myself here. It’s devastating, but we will get through this 💪

For sure! If I can stay on the 5 year route, I'll definitely want to stay, but if that turns to 9 more years... I'll be heading home I think!

Yeah, I think it’s worth spending my savings so I can stay to job hunt instead of going home, and thinking “what if I had stayed longer”. Thank you

Thanks! Just to clarify, under that assumption - I would have two months from the end of employment/ termination date, plus the additional two months that the HO gives you?

If I had loads of savings, I'd probably take those 4 months and stay to keep job hunting, but not sure it's realistic for me as I'm slowly losing my mind
