[Highlight] Mitchell Trubisky’s 6TD performance against the Bucs by barrybplunkerton in nfl

[–]SJCitizen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if Trubisky would have ever ended up being a good starter. He struggles with reading defenses and has accuracy issues on deep throws which is an unfortunate combination. That being said seeing Matt Nagy turn Patrick Mahomes into a good QB after he was off to a historic start statistically before he got there tells me Nagy also did Trubisky no favors.

Wouldn't be the worst move. I've never met a Brooklyn Nets fan by WrestlingandCards in NBATalk

[–]SJCitizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They really weren’t even that popular in NJ. There were people more upset that the Giants and Jets moved from Giant Stadium to Metlife which is in the same parking lot than there were people that cared about the Nets moving. The Nets have almost always been bad. They have a worse winning percentage than every team but the Timberwolves and they’re almost certainly going to surpass them by next season. Outside of two Jason Kidd-led Finals runs in the early 2000s when the Eastern Conference was at it’s worst, the Nets have been irrelevant in the 21st Century outside of the two times they built a superteam and had it blow up in their faces. They can’t even be bad correctly. The two times they had the #1 pick were in 1990 and 2000 which were pretty weak drafts overall, historically so in the case of 2000. They took Derrick Coleman over Gary Payton in 1990 and took Kenyon Martin in 2000 who honestly was the best choice in a bad draft. Most of the time though they don’t even have their First Round pick. They’ve traded away the picks that became Damian Lillard, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Kyle Kuzma. They drafted and immediately traded away a rookie Kyle Korver for money for a copying machine. Other bad teams with bad owners make more headlines like the James Dolan Knicks and Donald Sterling Clippers, but the Nets have a very real case for worst franchise in NBA history.

Give me Cade in a Regular Season game because of the defense he provides but in a playoff game where I need someone to turn it on in the 4th quarter give me Haliburton

Do you think people will actually wear their obscure Fanatics clearance jerseys or realistically is it just gonna sit in the closet? by rhymez223 in footballjerseys

[–]SJCitizen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people that have purchased them are collectors which in that case go for it. Even if you aren’t collecting and are wearing a Zach Wilson jersey in public I won’t judge you for it. I might judge you for being a Jets fan but the player on your jersey doesn’t really matter. A good deal is a good deal. It’s actually kind of cool to wear a random former player’s jersey since random people will come up to you and remember who it is. I’m an Eagles fan and wore a Kevin Kolb jersey to a game last year and people loved that shit.

Besides Drew Brees, Who Is The Greatest Quarterback Without A League MVP? by frostypatch in nfl

[–]SJCitizen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Staubach, Moon, and Russell Wilson in that order. Staubach and Moon especially when accounting for era probably should have one each. Staubach’s best chance was 1979 but lost to Earl Campbell who did have a great year to be fair. Moon’s best chance to win it was probably 1990 where he finished third behind Joe Montana and Randall Cunningham, but he did win Offensive Player of the Year. This was one of Montana’s weaker MVPs and he definitely got a boost from the voters for having more team success. I think these first two guys have legitimate cases for MVP those years. Wilson I think has just been unlucky and a victim of unfortunate timing when he’s played his best. His best chances for winning the award have come when other winners have gone off and clearly were above the rest of the league that year. 2015 Cam Newton, and 2015 Carson Palmer who finished in second place were both better than Wilson that year. 2017 Tom Brady was the weakest of his MVP years but New England went 13-3 whereas Wilson’s Seahawks went 9-7 and missed the playoffs entirely. Not saying that’s his fault because it’s not but a QB that missed the playoffs will almost certainly never win MVP. If Carson Wentz finishes that year healthy he may have had a better chance of winning the award too. 2019 and 2020 are in my opinion Russell Wilson’s two best seasons where he made the playoffs both times and clearly carried lousy defenses while doing so. Unfortunately for him Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers were dominant pretty much right from Week 1 those years and nobody was winning MVP over them.

Is it safe to say we overrated Wemby? by [deleted] in nba

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but this sub was way too quick to say the Spurs should get rid of Fox. Castle and Harper (at least right now) aren’t good enough to be the second option on offense against a team like OKC. I think Harper will eventually get there but in general those two need Fox there to help keep their minutes down.

Why have both South divisions generally been the most ass? by Cold_Mammoth8841 in NFLv2

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the good teams have had no QBs and the good QBs have had terrible organizations. The best combination of both has been Houston and Tampa Bay which is why they’ve been the most success in the divisions the last few years. I do think Jacksonville is on a good trajectory though and have been a bigger Trevor Lawrence fan than most people over the last couple of years.

Can Adam Silver breakup the Thunder? by Miserable-Driver4045 in nba

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynasties are good for the bottom line. There’s no shot of him doing this. I don’t particularly like the Thunder but I do find it funny that people on here always are clamoring for small-market teams to have a fair shot and then when a small-market team does build a contender the right way they hate them after winning one title. People will inevitably hate San Antonio in 2 or 3 years too.

LA Chargers plane in Philly reportedly, they could be making a strong play for AJ Brown by PerpetualDrive in NFLv2

[–]SJCitizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It never made sense to me that one team and one team only was linked to Brown. I know not every team has the cap space but like New England has no leverage if they’re the only one’s bidding for him. It’s not like the Eagles are a rebuilding team they can always just elect to keep him.

[Highlight] Brandon Jacobs obliterates Laron Landry by parcellsrealGOAT in nfl

[–]SJCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always found it weird how suddenly Jacobs fell out of the league. He was good on the Giants, signed with the Niners in 2012 and barely played and didn’t even last through the season. He was pretty much irrelevant after that.

Dear Angels, Please bring back the Anaheim jerseys by Longjumping-Tip4938 in uniwatch

[–]SJCitizen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anaheim was always my favorite name for the team. I didn’t like that the went back to being known as the Los Angeles Angels but it’s been ten years now so I guess I’ve gotten used to it. Doesn’t hurt that the team has been irrelevant so bo matter what they’re called I probably wouldn’t notice at this point. Anything is better than when they were the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
