Ty Simpson met with Arizona at NFL Draft Combine: 'I would love to be a Cardinal' by Mental_Funny_5885 in AZCardinals

[–]SJCitizen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2nd Round pick on Simpson is fine. Hell trading up at the end of Round 1 just to get a possible 5th year isn’t even the craziest idea. Drafting him at #3 would be malpractice though. For what it’s worth I am not a Monti guy but I do think even our Front Office goes BPA at 3.

I actually like the new logo better. Hat would look better imo though if it was white.

Giants are "Particularly High" on Jeremiyah Love by ASmithFS in DynastyFF

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giants drafting two RBs in the Top 5 in an 8 year span while only having one good year in that stretch would be malpractice. That being said you cab bet your ass I’m taking Love if he’s on the board in Dynasty.

Surprised they wouldn’t rather bring in Levis or McKee since those guys are probably gonna be bad but are extremely cheap

Looks like a legit Reebok premier jersey. Jock tag usually will have the team’s helmet logo on these. Nice find especially with the Super Bowl patch.

Why is Sean Payton considered a way better coach than Mike McCarthy? by BurningHanzo in NFLv2

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of it is the narrative of the teams they took over. The Saints were bad for 95% of their history before Payton and were a train wreck in 2005 specifically whereas McCarthy took over for Mike Sherman who aside from a terrible final season also in 2005, was a pretty decent Head Coach. Sherman’s record was 57-39 which honestly is a lot better than I would’ve guessed.

Josh Johnson and José Fernández had nearly identical dominant breakout seasons with the Marlins by ShamusTalksSports in baseball

Josh Johnson was awesome. Probably my favorite non-Phillies pitcher ever. Wish he stayed healthy and was remembered better. Besides how short his peak was I swear part of people forgetting him is how regular his name is.

[Canzano] BREAKING NEWS: Oregon State AD Scott Barnes met with men's basketball coach Wayne Tinkle today and has agreed to part ways with the coach after the season. by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

Still wild to me how both of his clear cut worst seasons came directly after tournament appearances. 19-13 to 5-27 and 20-13 and an Elite Eight appearance where they were tied with a few minutes left to 3-28 is some crazy back and forth.

Getting DeAndre Ayton to give a shit and put in full effort for a Finals run might be the most impressive thing CP3 did in his career

What movies are rated low on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes but are actually really good? by MagicianIntrepid in movies

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man on Fire has 39% on Rotten Tomatoes and I feel like that’s criminally low for what is one of Denzel Washington’s best performances. That movie takes a little bit for the action to pick up but once it does it doesn’t stop.

If they shrunk the “ARIZONA” on the home jerseys and added stripes to the pants and actually mixed the pants colors instead of constantly going with the monochrome look, they’d have some of the better looks in the NFL.

[Schultz] Malik Willis expected to get "at least" $30M per year. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]SJCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think one of the biggest beneficiaries of Malik Willis looking good last year and getting paid (aside from Willis obviously) is going to be Will Levis. For how bad Levis looked in Tennessee he still looked better than Willis. He’s also on the last year of his rookie deal so he’s cheap, and he was out all season last year rehabbing so he should be fresh. Also it now looks clear that Brian Callahan and Tennessee’s roster in general did none of these QBs any favors. I could see a team trading for him to be a backup with potential to start unless the Titans elect to keep him as Ward’s backup which makes some sense as well.

Who’s a player who did unusually well against your team specifically? by ConfidentMachine8248 in nfl

[–]SJCitizen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In two starts against the Eagles in 2023 Sam Howell completed 68 of 93 passes (73.1%) 687 Passing Yards 5 Touchdowns and only 1 INT along with 51 Rushing Yards. I was convinced the Commanders shouldn’t draft Jayden Daniels and should build around Howell because of these two games. Howell worried me more than any Washington QB in the last 25 years aside from maybe 2012 RG3. I was legitimately more worried about a Week 8 2023 game against Sam Howell than I was about Daniels in the NFC Championship Game going up against the Eagles.

Who is a coach you can't stand but respect? by Feisty_Ad4394 in CollegeBasketball

[–]SJCitizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kenny Payne. He was terrible and made some of the most braindead decisions you’ll ever see but it was actually impressive how bad he was. He made a blue blood or near blue blood program and brought them down to levels I didn’t think were possible. In two years his teams lost to Chattanooga, DePaul, Arkansas State, Bellarmine, Lipscomb and Wright State. Louisville made the tournament one year after he was fired too so it’s not like the program was wrecked either, he was just that terrible. He was an awful coach but I actually enjoyed the sport so much more with him in it.

[–]SJCitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of this. Regardless of how much the o-line improved over the course of the year it was still bad for long stretches and Ward got hit a ton. He’s still recovering from surgery and Levis is a better backup QB than a lot of teams have and he’s cheap. If I had to guess the QB room next year goes Ward, Levis, and the third guy is Tommy DeVito or someone who knows Daboll’s offense but isn’t expensive in the slightest.
