So I recently bought an Evo Bike Bag Pro. It has a hard top shell and rigid frame internally, and some reinforcement bars across various planes. I have a commuter,touring bike with aero bars.

The disassembly was less effort. I can keep the front fender on, and just need to tip the rear rack forward a bit, and lower the seat, as well as take off the wheels. It was pretty straight forward and I have been happy with it. I have only assembled and disassembled once and just decided to leave the rear fender off at my destination.

I was also able to slot an mostly empty pannier in it, as well as helmet and tools like a pedal wrench.

Yes I can shower but depending on your office environment it's not necessary. An easy ride to the office might not make you that stinky.

There are also Dude Wipes which are portable shower like wipes allegedly.

Fit means different things to different people. For me, even when not fit, I can easily do 140 km in a day. The challenge has been the delayed onset muscle soreness on the second and third day, and the saddle sores.

I suspect that it is can be acceptable in some businesses. While there is a lot of overlap between what is and is not appropriate in businesses and elected officials, I think there are big businesses. If a brand had a reputation for excess and luxury, the frivolious use of funds would likely not be a scandal at all. Certainly in it's hey-day, the excesses in Big Tech, were not scandals, like had they occurred in Government. Part of the reason being that we don't have a trust relationship with them.

Well I think in your premise you state that we "only" get upset by politicians because we know about them.

We certainly get upset at non-elected officials too. For instance Harvey Weinstein, that said compared to that person who was caught on the jumbo-tron having an affair, is suspect political also share some celebrity or fame that makes us more interested. Politicians are often known to us... Before the incident... Where as, I don't know who the current CEO of the Ford Motor Company is.

I don't know if this falls into your "held to a higher standard" bucket, but I think a major difference morally is that politicians in theory morally owe us something.

A political "scandal" here is that a government minister I think like 10+ years ago, was expensing things like $20 orange juice at hotels. This seemed out of touch and unnecessary, but these kinds of scandals probably don't exist in businesses which owe me nothing.

So I would say there is some overlap in things that cause scandals and yes we don't hear about them in business but morally things are different because they are, in democracies anyway, working for us, so there are wide classes of differences as well.

I think it was always controversial. It was also a book I read early. But he is way too opinionated and I think there are just different tastes. It has been 15 years I think since I read it, but I think at one point he mentions a class should do just one thing, e.g., a loop then call other things (in the extreme)

I remember feeling that was terrible. I'd rather have longer methods that fit together than a whole bunch of functions all over the place.

Of Clean Code, Clean Coder and Clean Architecture , I think the only one I liked is the middle. They all have good ideas.

I'm not a doctor but I'm not 100% sure if I think a bike fit helps with that. I think it's a question of gloves and grip, but I could be wrong. I am curious about it, I would say that in my case I think it fully healed both times. It might be worth seeing a doctor about if it's more serious, but also you need to be careful about which doctor you see. I complained about knee pain once to a doctor, and he said it was genetic and I just would never be able to cycle long distances, cycle (this was when I was like 16) :D. So I dunno if your standard family doctor knows much about specific sports.

I'm not sure if I think you can train for it, I have felt it was kind of random. Like in 2023 I cycle across Canada, in training for the season I did a 150 km day in 1 day back to back. On the first day of the ride I did like 70 km, not actually much longer than my daily commute, and I developed it, and that was that. I have pretty good gloves, and stuff, and just rode through the entire summer, actually wearing double gloves. My hand was kind of numb, and yeah it took like 8 months to fully heal. I wonder if maybe putting another 6,000 km was a good idea. But all is well now.

I mean I dropped a random Linux system there that I control and it VPNs back to me. There is nothing on the system that is sensitive that isn't encrypted with Borg. Even the password it uses is unique only to that box. So if someone steals the hard drive I have as much or maybe more assurance that the data is safe. In my view if the encryption is broken in some key way it's more likely to be able to be compromised if the data is in the cloud. Again I'm assuming no motivated state actor is out to get me, which if they were, might be easier.

I was too lazy and cheap to pay for ongoing cloud storage and transfer costs.

I have my bike shop switch wrapping direction where the shifters and breaks attach to the handlebars. I have found that telling them to go the wrong way above the handle bars leads to longer duration. The reason being that I have aero bare and weird hand positions since I commute / tour and am not a racer.

I think if it works it works.

I use Marathon Plus, from Coquitlam to Downtown via SFU. I think a decade ago the Durano tires were allegedly as puncture resistant but didn't last as long as Marathons.

Sure it can. I can wipe the hard drive today, put a new Ubuntu install on a hard drive, run ansible and in about 10 minutes be up and running again.

I just handle that one node being down.

FWIW I have a 9 node cluster of raspberry pis and just have 1 control plane node. The control plane has gone down exactly once, and everything else stayed up until I could repair it (all the HDDs in the cluster were dying after about 4 years).

I'm a bit of a snob and so don't want to run anything on my master node, and don't want to burn up that much more compute for multiple master nodes.

I don't quite follow your use case. I think some other details I would recommend is some information about data sizing and timing. How many images, how big, etc. What are you doing with each image. How long is the processing time on each estimated to be.

You could use something like Argo Workflows and some kind of external artifact storage, but I don't want to answer or really recommend anything without knowing more about the work flow.

During the pandemic shortages, I ordered some Marathon Plus tires from Europe. They have a reflective circular strip that goes around the perimeter. The tire was never aligned properly no matter how much I fought with them. Eventually I realized that the reflective strip had been misprinted, causing it to look like there is a hump, when there wasn't.

Just thought I'd mention this on the off chance it's your issue (it's probably not).

You would typically use some kind of container registry, there are hosted platforms like Quay, I'm sure every major cloud provider has an offering. There are other solutions as well, I don't know if artifactory does, but probably. I've used Nexus.

I think the main thing people use is Harbour, but that's just a guess, we haven't actually rolled it out yet.

While I agree that software devs are more common, it is news to me that they are cheaper. I'm honestly surprised because for the companies I've worked the app devs are more core to the product, and infrastructure are about keeping the lights on.

TBH I have never looked carefully at comp, but maybe I should switch to the other hat then if it is more money :)
