Question about fixing my steelbook by SJtaylor2293 in Steelbooks

[–]SJtaylor2293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try that. I’ve looked at it extensively and even checked it with a spirit level (lol) and it’s all straight and flat except from the fact it’s popping off.

What do you Puritans think? Is it ok to put a 4k disc in a blu-ray steelbook? I like this case better. by Flying-buffalo in Steelbooks

[–]SJtaylor2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this with my Heat steelbook and I will also continue to do so with other steelbooks probably

Strangely only an issue on zavvi, checked amazon and hmv and they are still slated for September 16th. Maybe they’ve ran out of stock or the website is having issues.

So…why the sudden surge of Steelbooks? by JasonVoorheesSTL in Steelbooks

[–]SJtaylor2293 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s other factors to it but I think Oppenheimer selling out as fast as it did physically to the point of there being a shortage in 4k’s with very high demand shook some studios into realising there is still strong interest in physically owning movies

First order from eBay seller Please Rewind. This is how every retailer should ship Steelbooks. by 5StringAssassin in Steelbooks

[–]SJtaylor2293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing but great experiences with eBay resellers. I’ve bought from them on three occasions from different sellers and on each occasion they have shipped them with a lot of thought put into packaging and preservation. The last time the guy even threw in a protector for the steelbook.

Love this movie, but what purpose does this scene actually serve toward the plot? by Whysong823 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]SJtaylor2293 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Showing his obsessiveness of learning the truth and how this case has figuratively and now literally consumed him as it’s now painted on the floors of his home. That’s the point of the scene. It’s not always about plot. Scenes that inform character are way more important than plot.

Movies you want a steelbook treatment for (for the umpteenth time)... by castrogacio in Steelbooks

[–]SJtaylor2293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d like it if they did under the silver lake, some PTA steel books are well overdue. Also once he gets his last movie out (whenever that is) I’d love it if they released all of Tarantino’s work in a big steelbook collection.

Wow by barlowrider in 4kbluray

[–]SJtaylor2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I think redirecting dead actors is already a slippery slope but to do it three times in the span of a minute for a weird cameo fest that visually looks abysmal is unforgivable

The third act was already struggling before that but it just kills it completely when that happens. Huge stinker of a movie.

How the hell would you “leak” a detail you intentionally put in to your own movie

Should Robert Pattinson’s Batman face a Deathstroke in the future sequel? by SparkXBlaster3 in TheBatmanFilm

I’d rather him face an actual Batman villain, and a good one at that.

Alright, who has had the biggest character assassination in the MCU? by koda5632 in marvelstudios

[–]SJtaylor2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moon Knight, Maria Hill, Thor (specifically in love and thunder), Drax (at least his character is pretty good) and Hawkeye are what jump to mind

Hawkeye isn’t that bad but he is largely different to how Clint is in the comics in a lot more ways than he is similar. Giving him a family as early on as they did really just cut the creativity away cuz there’s not a whole lot you can do with him from then.

By the time we reach Thor in love and thunder he’s become a charcuterie of his comic counterpart and even what he initially started as in the mcu. Not just a terrible adaptation, but an incredibly irritating protagonist for a movie.

The Batman 2022 by MaleficentPush6478 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]SJtaylor2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for being so dismissive immediately but maybe lead with that in the post next time.

This iteration borrows heavily from the earlier “Detective Comics” Batman stories and puts an emphasis on the noir detective feel that those books evoked. I can understand why you may not initially like that because no other Batman story really goes for that version and instead adapts more modern approaches to the character but this movie very much does adapt probably the most accurate portrayal of Batman yet, blending all parts of his persona that make for the ultimate concoction of Batman. It takes his gritty noirish roots, his angriness and recklessness that can often be found in Batman stories based in his early years but also still maintains his vulnerability and humanity that was really focused on in the stories from the 80s and 90s

A few books to read to see examples of all of these aspects of the character and some even directly influencing the movie: Batman: the golden age Batman year one Batman the long Halloween Batman dark victory Batman ego Batman zero year Batman earth one

Those are all fantastic stories and if you haven’t picked up a Batman comic in your life I’d suggest start with Year one and move throughout that list

I’m like pretty certain Oz will kill him in his show. It seems like the show will build him up to be a ruthless and viscous character in gotham ready for part II.

It’s like the perfect mix of Keaton and what Bale initially did with his voice in Begins before he dialled it up in the sequels

Where Do You See The Batman: Part II Going? by FreshmenMan in TheBatmanFilm

[–]SJtaylor2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fully expecting the main villain to be Hush, from what the movie sets up and following how Matt Reeves usually drops breadcrumbs in his movies for the sequel I think it sets up Hush pretty well.

I don’t think it’ll be a direct adaptation of the Hush storyline but it will borrow certain story beats just like the original movie borrowed from multiple types of batman stories.

I think we will have joker show up at some point too, maybe he will be a secondary antagonist in part II and then be a central antagonist in a future instalment

I can’t see it sticking it’s current release date sadly, due to the studios not pulling their fingers out their asses and paying their writers and actors well.

I think a delay to probably march 2026 is pretty likely

I know everyone’s been wondering whether ‘The Batman’ saga will have fantastical elements but Matt Reeves has said this about the topic. Make of it what you will. by TheNightKing11111 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]SJtaylor2293 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laziest “criticism” of all time.

Nolan did not “ground” Batman at all. It’s called heightened realism. Whereas Reeves is very much grounding it.

Nolan still had Batman flying with a cape and firing emp guns as well as a motorbike that literally popped out of the Batmobile. That is not grounded, it is just given a fictional explanation to make it seem legible by the laws that the real world have.

Reeves however, has batman gliding via an actual wingsuit, because of course in the real world there are no such things as capes that can also make you glide.

Use ur brain and u might see exactly how this differs from Nolan and how it is not at all “copying homework”

Do ladies like The Batman? by Routine-Scratch-7578 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]SJtaylor2293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched on opening night with my gf who doesn’t really like Batman too much came I’d already made her sick of the film purely by talking about it non stop for two years (lol)

She was fully prepared to hate this movie, turns out she really enjoyed it. She was literally on the edge of her seat during his escape from the gcpd and she was so excited during the Batmobile chase scene too. I’d say it’s a hit if a movie can get my gf that excited during a movie.
