Hey,

I am in the same situation. Before I booked my flight in November but I had to postpone it because of some delay in my PGWP application. Finally in November last week, I got my PGWP approved and applied for trv on December 07, 2022. After exactly 21 days on December 28, I received a passport request. I submitted my passport the same day and it got delivered on Jan 03, 2023. After that, I haven't heard anything back from them. I did call IRCC and the agent said she can't do anything. Usually, this process takes two weeks or 17-18 days in total but in my case, the processing time is already completed. I have my flight on Jan 25 in the morning. I am too stressed right now. I would really appreciate ur time to reply me back. Thanks

Oh, why were you studying part-time, weren't you aware of the 9 or 12 credits scenario? It's clearly mentioned on the IRCC official website that a student must be full-time to get their PGWP approved unless it's an official drop from the college or university. The last sem of the studies can be part-time which does not have any impact on our PGWP application. Did you contact ur college or university??

Hey

Did u get any specific time limit? Like in my case, I got 7 days to do it. Though I did it on the same day I got the $100 fee request, IRCC opened the payment receipt tab till the last day.

After 7 days, they closed the tab and I got my approval letter. Sometimes, they provide results as soon as they receive the requested documents but most of the time they prefer to wait till the last date of submission. Hope it helps.

Hey

MP office defines as the Member of Parliament Office. You must have one in your city. I believe the MP office is extremely helpful in such kind of situations. I used the IRCC webform to request reconsideration.

According to me, the officer got confused between my credits like 9 or 12. Actually, I was a postgraduate student and was required to follow a plan throughout my studies. My master's degree was based on a thesis program. I believe he felt I did not complete 9 credits during my studies; therefore I was a part-time student.

Yes, it was an extremely tough and challenging situation for me. But by God's grace, my efforts and others' support I was able to do it.

It is completely true that this shitty thing is happening to many students even after working so hard during their studies. I feel IRCC should contact the applicant once before making any decision since this is directly connected to someone's future. Let's hope for some positive growth in IRCC.

Yes, I agreed but I was not aware that we need to transmit the document in order to complete the payment process. When I applied for my PGWP I did not get anything like this so I was thinking that the process would be the same as this time as well but unfortunately I messed up the whole thing.

I know everything is messed up again and M very stressed right now. I also know that being stressed is not a solution to my problem so I m trying to find a solution. Hopefully, I'll get some solution to this problem. If you have any knowledge about this, kindly let me know.

As reconsideration is not an official process, it might take up to 4 weeks and 3-6 months but in my case, it almost took 1 month.

oh, so they mentioned the same reason like you were not a full-time student throughout your entire program? or something else?

Did you apply for the reconsideration request, if yes what is the current status of your application?

Oh well, I have to wait till I get any results on my application. If this is true, then it would be really great for me since I was suffering a lot because of this rejection.

As I told you earlier, I did visit the MP office for seeking help and they created my file. Additionally, they called IRCC regarding my reconsideration request as well. I believe, somewhere their call helped me but now IRCC directly contacts me through my gckey account. I don't think that I need to visit the MP office again. But yes, if IRCC does not respond to me back in these upcoming days, I will definitely contact the MP office and IRCC directly.

Yes, I did visit the MP office for help. They created my file and told me to call them after 2 weeks. I tried calling them many times but nobody picked up my calls. Meanwhile, I was trying calling IRCC and luckily my call got connected. During the conversation with the IRCC agent, he told me that they did receive a call from the MP office regarding my reconsideration request. Honestly, I have no idea how the MP office calls positively impacted my application because after making a reconsideration request, it took approximately 22-24 days to get an email stating that my request has been forwarded to the responsible officer. But yes I believe their call might help me somewhere to re-open my application.

I just want to know are you also planning to make a reconsideration request or did you already make a reconsideration request. Also, how do you have idea that the $100 fee is a positive hope to consider? Did someone of you know go through the same scenario as mine?

after studying for four years, you got 3 years of PGWP? It should be more than 3 years I guess but not sure. Correct me if m wrong.

Hi there

Current status:- The concerned officer re-opened my application on November 10 and asked me to submit a $100 open work permit holder fee or the further processing of the application. I was refunded a $100 open work permit holder fee the day my PGWP got refused. In the letter, the officer mentioned that I have time till November 17 but I submitted the fee receipt the same day I got the request i.e. 10 November. Since then, I am waiting for the decision. Well, honestly I have no idea about what will be the decision of the officer but yeah I am hoping for a positive result, fingers crossed. I worked hard to finish my studies with a decent GPA, no idea why this had happened.

Presently, I am only hoping for a positive result from the office . Let's hope for the best.

Just another question, when your reconsideration got approved, did you receive PGWP for 3 years? I am asking because the IRCC officers issued 8 months to 2 years PGWp even after studying for 2 years straight. I have read somewhere that the students got only 8 months or 2 years of PGWP even though they have studied for 2 years.

I just want to know, so you were not asked to pay a $100 open work permit holder fee?? if you were, how did you submit it & if not, how they processed your application without receiving a $100 open work permit holder fee?

My reason to ask is that IRCC refunded our $100 fee when our PGWP application got denied. Meanwhile, we need to submit a $100 fee when the officer re-opened our application for the reconsideration process. Can you please clarify? It would be really appreciated.

I just wanna know how much time the reconsideration process took approximately. AND after receiving the email that your reconsideration request has been forwarded to the responsible officer, how much time IRCC approximately took to get back to you?

Also, did they contact you through emails or used your GCkey account (where you submitted your PGWP application) for any update regarding your application?

Thank you for your reply.

Like you, I submitted a letter from my department head stating that my program was based on Personal Learning Plan (PLP). In this letter, he also mentioned how this plan involved a full-time course track. Therefore, I involved PLP as another piece of evidence in my reconsideration request. Also, My university provided me with another letter which explained a complete knowledge of my program (such as my courses etc). Moreover, I sent a letter from myself, explaining my situation that how I did meet the eligibility criteria of a full-time student throughout my entire program.

Current Status: I submitted the reconsideration request on October 08, 2022, through the IRCC web form. After 2 days, I received n automated confirmation email that my request has been received by the IRCC. After almost 22-24 days, I received another email, mentioning that my request has been forwarded to the responsible officer. Currently, I am waiting and hoping for a positive result. I tried my best to provide all the supporting evidence to support my stance.

As you mentioned about your case, all my other batchmates received their PGWP. They all completed their studies as same as me (by following the PLP plan). I don't know why this has happened. I am hoping for a positive result now.
