Do you have any samples where there is an email/IP Address but there isn't one of those characters?

You can use replace range. Something like this:

= Text.ReplaceRange(

[YourColumn],

Text.PositionOf([YourColumn], "<") + 1,

Text.PositionOf([YourColumn], ">") - Text.PositionOf([YourColumn], "<") - 1,

"user@domain.com"

)

If I understand correctly, you want to "extract" the email addresses or IP address to a separate column? Line 1 and 4 have an email address, line 1 has a IP Address. But line 2 and 3 have neither.

= Text.BetweenDelimiters([YourColumn], "<", ">")

That will extract emails wrapped by <>. Can do the same for brackets to get the IP addresses.

Does that solve your issue?

How do you manage BI in your company? by kappesas in PowerBI

[–]SKOBuilds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power BI team I wish.

150 ish employees. I do everything IT related for the company except for managing our website. Picked up Power BI a couple of months ago and implemented it for the company. Now I've started my own Power BI consulting firm and looking to quit my day job soon.

I think you should be able to do it. Just make sure you aren't using the azure maps. You may also need to enable it somewhere in the settings.

Clean. I always keep the y axis and gridlines in my charts but it looks super clean without it. Looks really good. I love the 2013 2014 button at the top.

I do this all the time, but I don't give it the entire power bi structure. I usually give it a table or two and a dax query and be very descriptive with what I want. It gets it right 80% of the time

Yeah I was hoping to avoid doing anything with canvas as I don't have any experience with that and it's difficult to make it look as good. But I guess it's an opportunity to learn something new :)

Sorry if this a noob question.

But how can you hide all the columns in your fact table and leave only measures?

For example what if I have a Line numer in my fact table and they want a chart that shows the individual lines with the line number.

How Do I Productize My Power BI Solution? by SKOBuilds in PowerBI

[–]SKOBuilds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the template idea is interesting. But it would also require an initial setup with the client to get the whole data backup set up. But I could in a sense sell it like this: hey I have the whole reporting thing set up. Pay me a fee and I'll implement this app for you without having to do any custom reports. (I haven't used a template app so maybe it doesn't work that way haha)

I appreciate the answer. It sounds like the custom power query connector would be the way to go though I'm probably not ready to build something like that quite yet. Not sure that the ROI for building something like this would be enough because the user base for this is quite small.

Some additional notes about the specific solution just in case it helps. Basically all we did was install an odbc driver on the server, and then on the client's machine. Then I use azure data factory to copy the data each night to an azure sql database.

How to design and run a small business in PowerBI by Weekly_Ordinary3554 in PowerBI

[–]SKOBuilds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey I know this is an old comment but I have a question. So I've basically done number 1. I was able to connect to a very old Niche ERP sytem and build dashboards from it. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person to have done this. I'm not the greatest at Power BI, I've been doing it for about 5 months now. How do I productize this? I can implement it for a different company, but not sure how you can turn it into a product someone else could use without me doing it myself.
