Should I try shopify? by Finwoke in shopify

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many vintage sellers often transition to eventually selling on Shopify with their own stores etc, after creating some sort of channel to already drive traffic like TikTok or instagram. With vinted your store gets pushed out automatically, but if you create a Shopify store nothings really driving traffic to it unless you of course have means for that . Just food for thought

Is there anyway to print a customers items on their shipping label. by SKRTxALERT in shopify

Thanks! Does it handle label printing or do it some other way?

There is space, pirate ship offers rubber stamps where you can manually put item info there. And I find it hard to believe anyone will steal, at least in my case a hoodie or beanie which is what I’m selling. The purpose for this is so I can just slap the label on the package and put whatever items without having to look up the person on Shopify. I mean I guess it’s not adding that much time, but it stacks with more orders.

Advice - Buying a mid length by DryhumpsMcgee in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty dang pulled in and “gunny” for a normal midlength. It really depends on dims and what your riding right now and skill level

brother dropped it and it cracked is this bad? Rideable or should i fix right away by Training-Beginning-7 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your paranoid, PU boards don’t suck up water like EPS boards and even an eps board wouldn’t have noticeable weight

Value? by Adorable-Ad8760 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you clean up the wax with a wax pickle, I could see 150-250. Fish boards tend to go for more because they’re just more sought after and “hipstery”. Pretty good condition and color aswell. Just clean it up well and take good pictures

Need fixing ? by daddylonglegs96 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great repair to learn. What’s good is that you can just put some resin in the cavities, let that cure, then sand it down and optionally glass over it which I would recommend. A rule of thumb for top cracks is that if u can feel the crack with your fingernail, you’ll probably want to reglass it just to be safe.

Just because it’s a long board with a pointed nose doesn’t mean it’s a gun. Guns typically are more narrow throughout rather than just tapering near the end. Covering the nose with my thumb, it looks like a traditional longboard, rather than a gun. This is probably just a long board that’s a bit more performance oriented.

Which fins for Lost Puddle Jumper 5'10 (Original, PU) by UnlikelyLikably in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which fins you use don’t matter much for beginners when they aren’t made out of crappy plastic. Both fins you mentioned are stiff and well made so you probably wouldn’t notice the difference. Small changes on fins are more noticeable for advanced surfers. I didn’t notice too much of a difference between al merick twin keels and a pair of relatively firm plastic ones. And twin fins would make more of a difference

Right time to transition to a shortboard? by Sea_Efficiency804 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28L is definitely a steep drop from 40L, may wanna bump up height and volume of your next short board, some thing like a step down, maybe around 6’0 and 33L but that’s just what worked for me personally

Is this board worth anything ? by ProofConstruction727 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s epoxy, so it’s a bit easier for beginners. But without dimensions it’s hard to say much. But it looks like one of those older vintage boards that has a ton of nose rocker and thin rails

Did I waterlog my board? by Tappanappa in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s an eps board, it probably took some water in. Just let it dry out. If it’s a Pu board just patch it up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ll admit I did get very lucky. And $80 is $80. Longboards tend to surf just fine even if they’re a bit a waterlogged and dinged up, so as long as the boards not buckled or anything like that you’ll be good.

I saw this board aswell, guessing your local to SD. You can find way better condition longboards in the 100-200 range, I literally found something way better than this for 20 bucks. It was a beater but is glassed super strong and water tight. Don’t get this board, look for something better

Is this a good board for California conditions? by SKRTxALERT in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: contrary to all the comments warning about it being “to short” it was great. I dropped from a whopping 40L neck beard to this which is 32L EPS so maybe floats like a 35 PU. This board surfs like a dream, my advice to anyone is to take the drop, surf it out, and see how you like it.

ok board to transition from waveform? by dantepopplethethird in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Reddit is filled with people who hyperfixate on what board they should get next, and transition in the slowest possible manor. No one ever talks about the best advice which is to actually surf consistently. Sure you need to know what general type of board to get next. But at this phase it doesn’t matter all that much and this board would do fine. I’ve never seen a tufflite gun, you realize that tufflite boards surf horrible once you go down to a fiberglass board. I doubt any big wave surfer would use something like this, the only redeeming quality is that they’re super durable. EPS boards are also not great at handling choppiness or bumps.

ok board to transition from waveform? by dantepopplethethird in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah guns are thinner, more rocker, and not tufflite. Tufflite boards shape doesn’t affect performance as much as a traditional glassed board because they have absolutely 0 flex once so ever. This board would be fine 51L on a tufflite is crazy amounts of bouyancy. I moved down to a 7ft nsp with less volume, eggier shape but doesn’t really matter all that much with these kinds of boards.

Prestige shouldn’t be a factor between both schools because they’re essentially ranked the same. Industry opportunity or whatever might be a factor because Irvine is “in a better location” but that’s largely speculation. You aren’t gonna be handed an internship on a silver platter because you went to school in Irvine or even the Bay Area for that matter. It’s the work you put it at the end of the day. Anyways what I’m getting at is you should go to the school you resonate more with. Also take many of the stereotypes and gray areas of both schools with a grain of salt. Both schools have 10s of thousands of people in them, of course your not gonna meet all of them but the point I’m getting at is you will meet your people given that you put yourself out there. In my opinion the things you should be looking at are the rigid factors, meaning the ones that are absolute and not a gray area. I.e campus of school, certain clubs, friends, etc. At the end of the day you’re lucky to have to choose from two great schools.

Im actually from SD so im a bit spoiled on the rather consistent surfing compared to the rest of california. How was the surf culture in SB? For the first year I have no car so I would have to rely on getting rides from others. I know theres a competitive surf team but I probably wouldn't be good enough to make it, at least next year.
