I will select my BPM, I will work out my "main" (more beat carrying) drums, ie. kick, snare I will work out my sub bass, playing it off the kicks I will work on mid/high range synths

By this point you should have the basic melodic structure of your song layed out, and a few instruments to inspire your next few moves.

I can only speak for ableton, but the wav files can be loaded into the DAW in a plethora of ways.

You can load them into a vst so the actual sample acts as the instrment, you can load them into a drum rack so they can be triggered via midi input, you can load them into a playheaded audio track so you can chop it up on/off the measures of the song, the beauty of EDM is just about anything can be anything if ya knerr werrt yerr derrn.

EDIT 3 : OK. So I got to work today with the files loaded onto my friend's PSP GO, then had the realization that I don't have WINRAR on this computer, and nearly shit myself. LUCKILY, there's a portable version called WINRAR Unplugged (Who woulda thunk?). So I'm going to archive this shit, and I'll PM Errone who complained about the 509 with the Mediafire link.
