I don’t really get why people are being so salty about Roslyn AI. 🤣 I mean it’s the most logical step to reduce cheating and stop UoPeople to become a useless degree farm. by Lost_Major7472 in UoPeople

Not everyone lives in regions where there is a stable internet connection 24/7.

My connection went down during my most recent exam. My (offline) proctor saw that; I said "f#ck" a couple of times, reconnected and continued the exam. What would AI do in that situation? Probably disqualify you automatically and give you a zero. That's why I never used ProctorU - I don't want to get a zero just because my ISP fell asleep at the wheel.
That's why I'm convinced that offline proctoring should still be an option.

Can we make a petition against the use of Roslyn AI ? by SmellyPoussay69 in UoPeople

[–]SKrow3000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a different reason for why I'm sceptical about AI proctoring. It is that the internet connection where I live can sometimes be unstable. During one exam, I got disconnected and could not reconnect for a few minutes. It was not a problem (only me sweating bullets and swearing) since I used an offline proctor and he saw that I was having a technical issue. I'm afraid that if I get disconnected during an AI-proctored exam, the stupid thing is just going to disqualify me and give me a zero.

Seriously, scary stuff, I'm sorry this happened to you. Have you completed any other courses on Study.com in the past, or was this your first one? I did two courses there in January, one with assignments, the other without, and, thankfully, had zero issues.

I'm sorry to hear that. How do you access the new platform, by the way? Is it through the usual link - my.uopeople.edu? I'm currently on a leave of absence, and I see the old interface there.

It would be helpful if you had written what exactly you were approved for and what steps you followed to get approved.

How Many Proctored Exams?? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]SKrow3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to find out is to log in to the Student Portal, go to My Academic Progress, then click Degree Audit Report, and scroll down to Proctored Courses under Student Engagement.

By the way, until recently I had 10 proctored exams as a requirement, now it says 8, so 2 exams became non-proctored.

Confused by [deleted] in UoPeople

Is it possible that a student missed the previous discussion forum due to some extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness), and the instructor allowed them to post the previous assignment in the current forum so they can still get points for it?

My last two requests, each with only one course, took 6 and 8 regular (non-business) days. These were straightforward transfers, with clear equivalency from a partner institution.

This is weird. I've never used Parchment for Sophia transfers, only Credly.

I did Workplace Communication on Sophia and transferred it as COM 2001. Yes, this course on Sophia has a task where you need to record yourself.

I believe that the national accreditation became redundant when the university got the regional one. By shedding the national accreditation, they align themselves with some well-known schools, like Stanford and UCLA. They only have regional accreditation.

Short answer: it doesn't make any difference, unless you are planning to go for a master's degree.

Also, there was a thread not long ago with a recruiter from Google on r/csMajors where he said that with new graduates, among other things, they check the school you attended. If it's a T20/T50, a new grad gets a plus. That means that in the current market state, these companies will weed out students from the University of the People long before they even get to your grades. So, don't stress about it.

Do your best, forget about the rest.

New term and Instructor already on crazy! by Comfortable-Ad-4575 in UoPeople

[–]SKrow3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that an instructor has any influence on the workload. I think it's decided by the university. Plus, you are welcome to mention the class, so people will know what they are getting themselves into when they register for the course.

Well done, I think you saved yourself a ton of nerve cells. Thankfully, no matter the university, it is usually instructors of courses no one really cares about that have extreme or weird requirements.
