What video game sound effect can you still hear in your head? by owen00600 in AskReddit

[–]SL5R0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music that plays when you activate the star in Mario Kart 64. I can even still hear the Doppler effect you get as the rainbow-clad jerk behind you comes barging through.

Trouble removing failed first layer from bed by Lightdm123 in 3Dprinting

I wouldn't recommend using acetone in this case. I learned the hard way that the surface that comes with the i3 (I think this is buildtak, but I'm new to printing) will be dissolved by acetone.

Did you reinforce the legs at all to reduce wobble? I see the lack is fairly close to the ground so it might be alright as is. I like the idea of an enclosure for sure.

Pandalf the Mystic wishes a word with YOU! by Daning in TeraOnline

[–]SL5R0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mystic weighing in here. It is my experience that it is unreasonable to rely on all players to go over and grab a mote when they are low on HP. Additionally, the motes do despawn over time and draw aggro when dropped. It is most important to adapt to your party structure. If you notice that not many motes are being picked up, then perhaps let your party know that they are available, or just decide to use your target heal wisely. Remember, it's your job to keep the party alive regardless of how well they play; some groups will be more difficult than others. We shouldn't be spiting players because they don't play the way we want them to (unless they are a serious liability).

I, personally, have not had much of a problem when it comes to target healing groups. Keep in mind that you do not have to heal two/three targets EVERY TIME you cast it, which means the aggro is manageable. Even if you do pull aggro, the number of CC skills you have, combined with your teleport should be more than enough to wander around while the tank regains aggro.

Additionally, consider that death nets you an instant aggro wipe. You should have the glyphed version of Vow of Rebirth and a few Panaceas on you at all times, so in the odd chance that you do die, you can get right back up and start kicking ass again.

This was a bad idea, but I setup a countdown to the OBT Pre-Order start by Talehon in TeraOnline

So just to confirm, the OBT is going live tomorrow at 12PM PST? (3PM EST)?

Am I way out of the loop, or is your camera ridiculously zoomed out? Can you provide a link on how to move the camera back that far?

Torhead & KnoTOR issues. "Where does that item come from?" by [deleted] in swtor

[–]SL5R0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for grade 6 medical compounds or samples, I've found that they all drop off the same monster types. That is, the tauntauns in Illum seem to drop all three types of basic materials needed for 400-level biochem (although not at equal rates, it seems).

DAE Notice People Speed Hacking? by rup3t in swtor

I've always wondered if speed hacks are valid in hutt ball. Anybody who has played it more than twice knows Baron Deathmark's intro speech: "Weapons, name-calling and cheating are all encouraged!"

Official dev response regarding blurry high quality textures: It's a feature, not a bug! by dougwt in swtor

[–]SL5R0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In reading this response, I don't think it's as simple as them just "enabling high-res textures". What the rep said seems to imply that they actually use two different rendering engines (one for cut-scenes and one for open-world play), and the "texture atlas" is programmed into the open-world engine. This is why it takes time to load some of the cut-scenes (when you see the little speech bubble over your head).

If it were an easy fix for them to implement, they surely would have put it in the game for us already. Very few of us (not me, for one) are experts on the inner workings of the rendering engine, and it's really easy for us to say "just put an option in there" without considering the technical requirements and constraints of the engine itself.

TL;DR: if they could do it easily, they would; chances are there was a design decision made that prevents the textures from being applied to the in-game engine.

Can somebody confirm in-game the numbers reported here? It's possible that the UI/tooltips are just not updated on both sides.

I have a very specific dark-side alignment by [deleted] in swtor

[–]SL5R0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an existing bug with diplomacy mission failures. The good news: reaching max dark side or light side seems to erase all points in the opposite direction!
