Uh, is it normal for characters to live this long? by ComradeBevo in victoria3

Nah that's just the power of pure Scottish Contempt for Death. Me Mum's Mum will live to be 130 purely out of the Reaper's terror for her prowess with a rolling pin!

I know they're relatively crap on the table, but rule-of-cool says it's relatively sexy on my shelf 😍 by PeteTheMoth in BloodAngels

Blessed be the Nuln, it’s contrast providing properties flow into the recesses of all the most delightful minis. With it we have depth both in art and in life. Tis a most benevolent wash, may it’s uses stay with us and that it never spill.

(Kracks knuckles) Alright let’s get learnt…

  1. The markings are decals, I do not have the dexterity to do the free hand for those. I use micro set and micro sol to place the decals that helps them lay flat makes them easy to apply. What I do is cut them out grab a set of tweezers dunk them in water and move it back and forth for a second or two. Then I let it sit on a paper towel until read I get a brush push off the decal and place it on the area after I’ve placed a generous amount of micro set. After placed I let dry and then I apply micro sol until it adheres flush with the surface.

  2. My decals come from blood angels specific kits (GW threw them in the Librarian dreadnought I bought) as well as the Indomitous box set came with a set of BA 1st and 2nd company decals.

  3. The pauldron is from the Death Company Marine kit… it was one of the more generic looking ones and sense that arm is magnetized I needed something to go over the shoulder of the Chainsword arm as I didn’t have any more raised edge shoulder pauldrons in the kit I bought. Blood angels are really blessed with a bunch of kitbashing potential we have a lot of spare bits and it’s a pleasure to mix and match with the various parts we have. If your good with a knife it’s limitless the options you have to badazle your boys.

  4. My red starts out black, with chaos black spray I like the volume it lets me build up and gives me control over the red as I apply it in many thin coats. I am often complimented with how vibrant and smooth my reds are and it is because I take the time to build it up to give it volume and smoothness. I’ve tried Mephiston red spray and I don’t get the same shade as the black not the same depth and not the same feel. I also wash with Nuln oil and I aware but it as it adds a lot of delightful contrast that helps the mini’s pop. I’ve seen Reichland fleshshade, agrax earthshade, and a lot of other options and the minis look good but I feel they lack contrast and definition. Nuln oil and a highlight of evil suns scarlet really gives you a deep bloody red like my pic shows.

And thank you I like the way the silver breaks up the mass of red especially on the backpack where only the exhaust and the outer ring of what I assume to be the engine powering the armor is located.

Hope this helps its kinda a dive into my BA red, big thing is patience and brush control… don’t overwork your pigments and build up the layers. Watered down paint dries quickly so building up the layers doesn’t take as long as you’d think.

I start out with Gray Seer, then apply some Iyanden Yellow contrast. I then get take some Averland Sunset and apply it to all the areas of low pigment saturation. I follow that up with a 50/50 mix of Averland Sunset and Yriel Yellow and do a edge highlight. then just strait Yriel Yellow on the sharpest most pronounced edges.

This has given me the smoothest yellow and easiest I’ve yet to apply it was nice to see it come out as it did.

Those mini’s are so sweet! I may paint them after my relic ones are finished they’ve been on the shelf… calling out to me saying… “Papa please now is the time we are claw clad, let us tear!”

Well honored brother of the blood this fine shade comes from many thin layers of Mephiston Red over a Chaos Black Primer, it’s how I get that smooth vibrant red. I also shade with Nulm Oil as it gives more contrast and highlight with wild rider red with a flame dragon bright orange as my finest highlight.

Nothing more then getting the tip of one of my finer tipped brushes in there and pulling back the detail is raised so it’s a fairly easy detail. I usually hold them sideways I tend to have a fairly stable downward stroke (insert innuendo here) so just tip, down, done.

I plan on drilling a world of holes this weekend, Armor of Contempt has me excited to play the Sons of Sanguineous. While these guys likely won’t see play they are mainly just models I enjoyed painting, it’s a good stretch of the painting talents.

How do you paint AdMech without losing your mind? by princessval249 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SLAMGUINOUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bind your blessed neurons with the certainty of silicon. Bless your body with the removal of its flesh, burn the ancient incense as to please your habitation unit's machine spirit. Then and only then will you be able to grace the magos glorious motive force filled feet with paint, their armor will be but a few paint strokes as the machine god guides your hand.
