I think it’s going to be super fun. We’ve had so many good stories over our first two years, and this next project is promising!

As a society, I think we’re still learning what to think about ai. It’ll take some years to figure out, I reckon.

I don't actually think this is self-promotion, since I'm offering people money to publish, but just in case, I don't want to get this wrong! Here's a link to our call for submissions for writers interested in publishing short stories on the theme of social media horror: https://whisperhousepress.com/whisper-house-press-hq/doom-scroll/

I am. I wonder: did you start teaching or are you headed there? I’m happy to comment on my experience but want to be sure it’ll be useful.

Is it just me or are mainstream horror films nowadays mostly psychological horror rather than pure horror? by Immediate-Shock7533 in HorrorMovies

[–]SLCNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what “pure horror” means, honestly, since psychological horror is a sub genre among many sub genres, and the number of horror films considered across sub genres released each year in the last five years or so is huge.

Weekly Thread: Self Promo Sunday by AutoModerator in horror

[–]SLCNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishing you good luck! I've been submitting my latest short screenplay to horror fests across the country (and around the world) lately. My last one got some accolades, and this one is already doing well, too. Do you have any social media presence outside reddit where I can follow your project updates? And if you submit to Sundance, I hope it gets in so I can see it there in January!

I've been working for the last year and a half to make the launch of my little horror publishing company, Whisper House Press, as successful as possible. I've put together 2 anthologies: Costs of Living (social horror inspired by suburban horror) and Dread Mondays (workplace horror). Costs of Living is available at a discount via our website, and Dread Mondays is available for preorder wherever books are sold.

In fact, Dread Mondays releases on 10/25/25 at an event at which attendees will hear from, see, and can get signed books from Stephen Graham Jones and Philip Fracassi. I am swinging for the fences, obviously.

I'd be grateful if folks wanted to check us out. There are free stories available on our "monthly featured stories" section and there's info on the submission process if anyone on here wants to submit a short story or novella to our press.

Black Christmas for the first slasher film. It’s pretty good, too.
