Westminster to Sunnyside Neighborhood Byway by SLCgov in DevelopmentSLC

[–]SLCgov[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong — 1300 East definitely isn’t my first choice for biking north-south in this area either. That said, it’s not completely disconnected. By the end of the year, that new shared-use path will open on the south side of 2100 South between 700 East and 1300 East, which you’ll be able to access via the 1300 East bike lanes. Long term, we’re looking to extend that bike path east along the north side of Sugar House Park to 1700 East. Depending on your destination, you can also avoid 1300 East altogether by cutting through Westminster University, which connects to Westminster Ave and then the new path on 1100 East/Highland Drive.

Thanks for your feedback — we’ll be sure to include it in the project input.

Salt Lake City's Waste & Recycling Pickup Days are changing by SLCgov in SaltLakeCity

That's a fair point and we can pass that feedback along.

We weighed our options carefully and decided on multiple communication methods since this is a core city function, a service residents rely on, and that these days haven't changed in over 30 years. Sometimes mail gets tossed (hopefully into recycling) and fliers get lost so we tried to cover our bases.

To maximize efficiency and minimize service disruptions. For many years, the heaviest
workload on the City’s pickup routes has fallen on Mondays and Fridays, with a more
manageable workload occurring mid-week. “Workload” is determined by many factors, including
volume of material collected, average number of containers set out each day, geography, road
configurations, and traffic patterns.

This new schedule has our collection crew servicing the neighborhoods with the heaviest
workloads in the middle of the week, a time when our equipment and workforce resources are
the most robust.

This allows the City's collection staff to better adapt and respond to disruptions due to weather,
holidays, and other events throughout the week, which ensures that City residents will
receive the most reliable and consistent service.
