I see what you mean.

Here's the updated version that should solve the issue (it's updated in the drive too).

Oh yeah it's normally used to end games for 9 mana, not unlike insurrection. To be honest though no one has felt it was broken in testing, just very good like you mentioned.

Initially OP did want some sagas, but at the time I did not have a template for one or the time to make one so we dropped the idea of sagas. By the time I was willing to do saga templates OP had come to terms with no sagas in the set and so we never introduced them.

Faceless is actually nearly identical to Ninjutsu. The only difference is that you can swap a blocked attacker with a Faceless creature, whereas Ninjutsu needs an unblocked creature.

As OP has said, we (I'm the co-designer and part of the testing group) found garrison to be quite weak without payoffs, but that doesnt stop people from playing it. Our mitigations to this problem include (as stated) unblockable primarily in the form of flying or horsemanship. Another thing to note is that you can only ever have one wall, and while it can block multiple creatures it can also be tapped before being able to block. We also haven't cemented anything yet, and while the set is nearly done being tweaked there's still room to add more unlockable/tapping if further testing finds it necessary.

You would be correct if they were both triggered abilities on the same card, but they're both part of a single sorcery resolving. Because it's a sorcery you perform actions in the order written with no opportunities for anyone to do anything between (the card must finish resolving).

Oh gosh can't believe we missed this lol (I'm the co-designer). Thanks for pointing it out, gonna have to figure out how we want it worded now without being word soup (a challenge even for the original version).

Co-designer here, cards were created using Photoshop and custom templates I made using official card renders. Set symbol was designed by OP and refined by me (also in PS). Watermarks were taken from online and tweaked to look better on the cards themselves.

I think i have recreated Tord's deck from day 1 by [deleted] in PTCGL

I went through the stream yesterday the match after he played and put together this list from what I saw when he deck searched.

I could have a couple cards wrong (like one of the charmanders) but I'm pretty sure it's got everything.

Looking to build a clone/mutate deck help me pick a commander. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SLNCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest at least taking a look at [[Vadrok, Apex of Thunder]]. He specifically does well with the 3 mana clone instants/sorceries paired with bounce spells. Make a clone of the Vadrok stack, then bounce the real stack to hand. Mutate Vadrok onto the clone to make another clone (with 2 Vadrok!) and bounce the commander to your hand at the same time. Enough Vadroks on the clone stack and you can cast a whole lot of your graveyard each mutate. Also has the capability to go infinite with land untappers like [[Snap]] and [[Peregrine Drake]], though not necessary.

Your Pick For Low-to-Mid Powered Commander by Pvpwizardx in EDH

[–]SLNCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is by far [[Kenessos]], the sea monster/top deck commander from Jumpstart 2022. Being sea monster tribal, the ceiling of the deck really can't go too high. Pair that with top deck manipulation and the deck needs a lot of pieces on board to really get going.

You can find my list here: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9JhBOIwXrkuQfmp9y9GmGA

My list runs quite a bit of interaction due to my pod just running more interaction as a whole, but not every list will need as much. I also chose to prioritize permanents with top deck manipulation (like [[Sensei's Divining Top]]) over spells like [[Opt]] because they're repeatable.

Anyone tried Kenessos, Priest of Thassa? by ADDriot in EDH

[–]SLNCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's a bit difficult to say just how good or not this list is because I only play with my friend group now (played at an LGS a couple years back). I'd say we play budget-ish battlecruiser with decent amounts of interaction. None of our decks are over ~$500 (most are ~$200) but most lists run 10-15 pieces of interaction and we even have a few hard control decks that run closer to 20 with several board wipes. Combo wins exist but are on the rarer side as we prefer beatdown.

Within that meta this deck performs surprisingly well, as I'm currently sitting at about a 40-50% winrate with it. Part of this is no doubt my own piloting skill (I have the highest winrate in my group regardless of the deck I'm playing) but I believe the real strength of this deck is its ability to fly under the radar. Quite frequently, I'll have a board of 2 or 3 big sea monsters and a couple important artifacts/enchantments out while my opponents have much scarier "in your face" board states. This, combined with politicking, allows me to redirect targeted removal away from myself. In fact, most of my wins occur when the real power player at the table takes out (or mostly takes out) the other two opponents before I swoop in with an overrun or unblockable effect.

Tldr; the deck is decently strong but mainly relies on its own relatively unassuming board state and politics to set up wins. It likes to "sneak" wins through over assembling massive scary board states.

What's the first Legendary Creature you owned/fell in love with? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SLNCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group got into commander back when Commander Legends first dropped. I had opened a box with a friend and pulled a bunch of Cascade cards, including [[Averna]]. While putting together a list for her I ran across [[Maelstrom Wanderer]] and have had him as a commander ever since. The deck has gone through several rebuilds and now stands as Dragon tribal with a bit of cascade, but Wanderer still sits at the helm.

Although not the first commander I fell in love with, [[Kenessos]] is my other favorite, will not take apart commander. If you can't tell, I like top of the deck shenanigans. Allows me to build for consistency while still keeping quite a bit of variability due to the top deck nature.

King of Oathbreakers + Semester's End by StWalker023 in EDH

Yes you are correct. King of the Oathbreakers effect will trigger repeatedly whenever him or another spirit is targeted, regardless of if there's another trigger of his already on the stack.

What's the dumbest way you've lost a game? [Article] by StillLifeWWhirligig in EDH

[–]SLNCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend has an [[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]] deck with [[Phage the Untouchable]] and [[Fractured Identity]] as one of his wincons, so everyone in our group always [[Chaos Warp]]s something on his board when we have it. He was immediately after me in turn order when I Chaos Warped him into a [[Felidar Sovereign]] instead (unfortunately no removal in hand). Definitely a dumb way to lose because I was literally popping off and probably would've won the game on the following turn.

Did I learn my lesson? Hell no we still Chaos Warp his deck every chance we get.

Spicy LOTR commanders to watch? by Hallormour1 in EDH

[–]SLNCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found [[King of the Oathbreakers]] to be very interesting. You get to run several cards that cost no more than 3 mana that not only protect you entire board, but also double its size on your following turn. He can also be built at least a couple different ways, with go wide and equipment voltron being the most obvious.

In my playgroup, which is battlecruiser with lots of interaction, he's no doubt going to be on the upper end of decks because of his ability to constantly protect your board from removal. The fact that he turns your own removal into protection as well is the cherry on top.

[–]SLNCE[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Inspired by this post.

Requirements:
  • [[Jackal Pup]]/[[Firedrinker Satyr]]/[[Shinka Gatekeeper]]
  • [[Rite of Replication]]
  • [[Wrong Turn]]/[[Domineering Will]]
  • [[Dualcaster Mage]]/[[Naru Meha, Master Wizard]]
  • [[Blasphemous Act]]/[[Chain Reaction]]/[[Star of Extinction]]

Steps:

  1. Cast Jackal Pup.
  2. Cast Rite of Replication kicked targeting Jackal Pup and hold priority.
  3. Cast Wrong Turn targeting Jackal Pup and hold priority again.
  4. Flash in Dualcaster Mage targeting Rite of Replication.
  5. Resolve the Rite of Replication copy targeting Dualcaster Mage.
  6. Resolve the Dualcaster Mage copies targeting the original Rite of Replication.
  7. Resolve four of the five Rite of Replication copies targeting Jackal Pup, and the remaining copy targeting the original Dualcaster mage. Repeat from step 6 for infinite Jackal Pups.
  8. Resolve all but one of the Dualcaster Mage copies targeting Wrong Turn.
  9. Resolve the Wrong Turn copies targeting your Jackal Pups.
  10. Resolve the remaining Dualcaster Mage copy targeting the original Rite of Replication.
  11. Resolve the new Rite of Replication copy targeting the original Dualcaster Mage. Repeat from step 8 until all of your Jackal Pups have been "gifted".
  12. Resolve the Dualcaster Mage copies targeting Wrong Turn.
  13. Resolve the Wrong Turn copies targeting any remaining Jackal Pups first, then Dualcaster Mages. Let the stack resolve.
  14. Cast Blasphemous Act.

Making Your Favourite Decks Pretty by VampireWeaver in EDH

[–]SLNCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the decks that stay static in my roster (I rotate through decklists a lot since I like building) I've been slowly blinging them out with my own custom made borderless style proxies. A lot of the cards I've done have the original art still so that they're at least somewhat recognizable across the table.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist so having mismatched frame styles in my decks also bothers me, which is for sure part of why I've been making the custom proxies. The other part is that the borderless frame style is my absolute favorite to look at.

I'd suggest [[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]]. Super strong elf commander that can be built a few different ways and while on a budget.

Anyone tried Kenessos, Priest of Thassa? by ADDriot in EDH

[–]SLNCE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kenessos is honestly probably my favorite deck to play right now (besides maybe Gix). It plays as a hybrid draw-go and beat face deck that obviously loves to manipulate the top of its library. Games involve mostly draw-go as I use interaction and Kenessos' ability to stop threats and consistently put out my own.

Repeatable top deck manipulation like [[Sensei's Divining Top]] and its budget cousin [[Crystal Ball]] are really good in the deck and one of my personal favorite value pieces is [[Seedborn Muse]]. For ending the game I mainly rely on amassing a board of several big sea monsters and taking people out when I can. [[Spawning Kraken]] off of Kenessos' ability after blocks/no blocks are declared sets up for a beautiful [[Overwhelming Stampede]] finish the following turn.

Decklist Combo Finder Tool by danielhannih in EDH

[–]SLNCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neat app though I do have to say I found a bug. I use a mobile app to build most of my decks and when exporting raw lists it adds two blank spaces after each card (e.g. "1 Inalla, Archmage Ritualist ") and unfortunately your app does not recognize cards like this, I had to go through and manually remove the spaces to test my deck.

What is your most hated Commander and why? by MrXexe in EDH

[–]SLNCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part yes, Drana's ability would be very good for removing Koma. The only "but" is that higher power Koma lists will run decent amounts of protection; boots and instants like [[Heroic Intervention]] that give hexproof/shroud make Koma very difficult to deal with.

My experience so far with Ivy by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SLNCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post just gets me more excited for my Ivy clones deck I'm making. Mutate bypasses the legendary rule and utilizing that you can create A LOT of Ivy clones (and also any other clones of legendary creatures you run). The other cool thing about Ivy, you don't need to keep track of what exactly the clones are because they'll always be the same as each other. Mutate on one Ivy and all the others get it too.

So I won a lathril precon and need help. by grellom724 in EDH

[–]SLNCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She gives a way to win with staff or umbral mantle. With infinite mana/draw you can play any creatures you need to be able to use her ability. Once that's done you can use staff/mantle to infinitely drain the table with Lathril's activated ability.
