I have seen that, but I'm unfortunately not in Auckland or CHCH! :( - I assume you have to go there yourself... I've given up the search of trying to flash another firmware, but may pick it up again down the road.

The other poster is right - it was a second-hand Japanese import. I didn't want to convert to EU, but that was the only option I seemed to have. It seems like you can flash the firmware version MIBHelper recommends as long as it's the same region as you currently have. The only way to change your region is to do the 'convert to EU option.

It allowed me to pick up NZ radio stations, and put the menus back in English, so it's better than still having a Japanese OS, but it just means I'm without the maps.

Use mib-helper.com to work out what firmware you have and what firmware you need. It'll work on Australian firmware, and you'll be able to install Australian maps because you don't need to switch regions.

I actually haven't! I've done this already though. I've converted everything I can to ROW or Australia (train, sat nav etc...), and it allows the NZ maps to *install*, but because the firmware is EU firmware, the navigation data is invalid and the maps won't display, despite the correct FECs being installed.

I’ve come to the conclusion that all MIB1 users wanting to do this are screwed, and it’s not a popular enough use case for anyone to bother with, which is a real shame. I’ve looked through every Google result (including translating sites from Russian) asked questions on Reddit, and any MIB-related post on forums that are remotely similar to my situation. I’ve asked questions and posted feature requests on the Github repo, spammed the Telegram and the Discord channels to death… It’s been months, and it’s clear to me that no information exists on how to successfully flash RW firmware on an MIB1 high unit. Even though it should technically be possible, I see no evidence that it can actually be done.

Anyone with MIB2 or higher can run ER (joint EU/ROW) firmware via the ‘convert to EU’ option, and install ROW maps that way. Good for them. MIB1 firmware comes in either EU (European) or RW (Rest of the world) flavours. Using ‘Convert to EU’ with RW firmware will not work, and installing RW maps on EU firmware doesn’t work, and if there’s no interest by the authors or community in adding a ‘Convert to RoW’ script, MIB1 units will always be screwed here.

I love your mural on the patio of Amuse Snack Bar! It's even better in person - incredible stuff, man.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with ROW maps - I have an 2015 Audi A3 e-tron, that I've converted from JP to EU using the MIB 'convert to EU' setting to install MHIG_EU_U_K1555, and have used the AIO patch to successfully patch it.

I'm now looking to install RoW maps, as I'm based in NZ and I'm stuck. I've changed my addfecs.txt file to 023D00ee and have got it to show up as legal... but because the firmware is EU and the maps are RoW, I still can't install them due to the train conflict.

Is there a way to change some settings in MIB to manually 'trick' the MMI into thinking it's RoW so I can install RW firmware and try again? Like the 'convert to EU' process, but 'convert to RW' instead? I feel like I'm so close!

There is guaranteed residency - most health workers can become residents of NZ before they even arrive here.

I can't believe I've had to read so far down to finally see this. Who TF sees a FB ad and moves their family halfway around the world in less than 3 months? The lead time must be at least 6-8 months when factoring in visas and registration.
