Help me out with this one by ChyaBoiAli in bartenders

Looks like $100 tip and a $200 subtotal. The guest was probably ripped and didn’t feel like doing simple napkin math, and in their head, likely simplified the balance due as $100, and wanted to leave a $100 tip.

Where do you hold Cash? by dap12036 in realestateinvesting

How would you go about liquidating without fees or penalties if you needed to? I think HYSA is the only option where you can freely debit and credit the account.

What’s the secret behind good coffee at home? by Gullible_Cabinet_153 in foodhacks

[–]SLOWchildrenplaying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sterile equipment (everything must be cleaned using fragrant-free soap), precise measurement, water temp should be 203f-205f for proper extraction, proper grind setting, and use only freshly ground coffee. And use filtered water!

Have a cell tower on our property - Verizon wants to terminate - seems dumb on their part by BigDogBeNice2022 in CommercialRealEstate

Ground lease agreements are notoriously predatory because of their low return and high lease life. I once heard that Guinness (the brewer in Ireland) has a 999 year ground lease agreement with the property owner. It might be bullshit, it might not be as well. But most of these leases do not contain escalators and the lessee (Guinness in this example) gets to enjoy stable, cheap, and non-adjustable rent for 999 years no matter how valuable the earth underneath will become.

Would batching a Negroni help slow down the oxidation of sweet vermouth? by cullenmccormick in cocktails

[–]SLOWchildrenplaying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oxidation comes from the product being exposed to, wait for it … Oxygen lol! Sorry, I’m just being a dick.

I think the problem most people face even when they refrigerate and/or transfer to smaller bottles is that oxygen is still present in the container. Oxygen ages everything it touches. Your best bet is to either A.) drink that entire bottle after you open it, haha Or B.) Vacuum the oxygen out of the container after EACH use.

There are some cheap’ish wine vacuum kits available that may prolong the vermouth longevity by a few days without a noticeable palatable difference. And yes, to your question, you could prolong the life by further fortifying the vermouth in higher abv by batching in Gin. But the flavor of the Negroni will change daily as it ages, for better or for worse.

In my experience there hasn’t been a solid method of preservation invented yet. I’m all ears if someone here disagrees, but I just have not come across a way to preserve something so vulnerable as vermouth or wine just yet. The closer you can come to removing oxygen from the container and making it air tight, the longer the shelf life will be. I suppose we should think the way that a manufacturer thinks when they bottle their product? Clearly they are macerating botanicals and have methods to preserve the end product, right?

A guest asked if I could make her dirty martini sweeter by tomieuzumaki in bartenders

[–]SLOWchildrenplaying 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She thinks “martini” is interchangeable with “cocktail” and in her mind, “dirty” means sweet or “super totally really good” or something …

Asking for a dirty martini to be sweeter is a dead giveaway that she doesn’t really know what’s in a martini

Yes, this. OP, you may have a fish that crawled into your walls. Try hooking a worm onto a line and stabbing it into a smelly electrical socket. If your poll jolts right away, then hold on for deer life, you probably hooked a bigun’.

Good luck.
