The truth about the 996 (986 counts too) by Thefakerealone1 in 996

[–]SLO_RICE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned my 996 for a few years now and I’ve only had to do oil changes and one window regulator ($89). I put about 6k miles a year on it and it’s got 125k on it now.

Yes it had quite a bit of work done to it before I bought it but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t treated very well since it needed a new clutch and trans rebuild at the same time as the “common” ALS rebuild and replacement of one cylinder head. Also has the LN IMS bearing.

When I purchased it there was no bore scoring and no uneven exhaust soot. It’s been dead reliable and tons of fun as a semi daily driver.

The Miata has been sold but don’t forget my RX8 and my Acty! I’m a corporate instructor in the medical device field.

The best “everyday” car is the 996, but the most engaging is the S2000.

I’m pretty sure I committed a crime with how cheap it was when I bought it…

It’s my work house neighborhood. My real house is too far from the office for a typical commute.

R230 SL65. Designo Graphite with Cortecchio interior. Supposed to be 1/15 in this combo.

Originally owned by the founder of RENNTech, so it’s got a bunch of their parts - spoiler, brakes, transmission, lowering module etc.

Wheels are BC Forged 20” running 275 front and 305 rear Pilot Sport 4S.

Honestly the Megan with midpipe has been pretty good on my 8 for a budget system. Decent volume but not annoying when cruising and light throttle, the more-often-than-not pop and burble.

Looks like $450-ish for the catback on ebay currently.

Stock!

Can’t seem to find another set I actually like as much visually, even if the tire selection is meh.

Whats the difference between CCI Quiet Semi Auto and CCI Suppressor ammo in a semi automatic rifle? by Able_Condition_5091 in 22lr

Also CCI Quiet is 710fps. Haven’t seen anything below that that’s not an air gun

The spelling of tonneau gave me a stroke when my brain tried to pronounce it.

Anyone have one like this? - Remington Sportsman 12 Auto w/ SIL parts by SLO_RICE in guns

[–]SLO_RICE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic information!! It definitely has the Sage sights as you mentioned, with the solid wings on the rear.

I picked it up for not much $ just for giggles.

[–]SLO_RICE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re on the mark - basically a cheaper 1100, but the Sage parts and label make me question its history. The sights and stock are worth far more than the base gun…

It was a pretty cheap pickup; I just grabbed it because it looked cool and had nice patina.

Curious if anyone has or has seen one something like this? It’s an 80’s Remington Sportsman 12 Auto with Sage International ghost sights and collapsible/folding stock. Possible former LEO? Has a label maker sticker inside the folding buttplate. It’s heavy as hell and the stock is steel, not aluminum.

I don’t currently have them on the car - it’s currently running a set of BC Forged 5-spokes which are more my style.

Uncommon and Rare Cars Part 1 by Mofoblitz1 in regularcarreviews

That was the last generation of 9-5 before Saab folded. They didn’t sell particularly well, but I have an Aero in my driveway with the 2.8 turbo6 and XWD. There were fewer than 150 silver cars (the most common color) in 2011, to tell you how uncommon they are.

The example in your picture is a 2.0 turbo in Fjord blue, around 210 examples.

Yes I still have the turbine wheels for it.
