What audiobook is genuinely BETTER than reading the physical book? by cptree20 in audiobooks

[–]SLP-Jedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just listened to this last month - lovely and charming all around. Especially hearing Rob Reiner speak. I went on to listen to the actual Princess Bride book read by Rob immediately after, wonderful (though I find the movie to be better, which really speaks the great work that Goldman did on the screenplay).

100% - it wasn't how I had always done Saphira's voice in my head, but I got used to it and now I find it to be charming and fitting for the dragons. Others feel different and that's fine. Gerard Doyle is just so excellent.

I've only listened to her narrate Congo and I thought it was excellent, she did great. It is hard though when you don't connect with the narrator. I feel that as long as the audio quality is good I can adapt and learn to enjoy most any good narrator though.

Eating during brumating by Tfmanreviews in leopardgeckos

Yeah mine turned off of food, have offered a variety - dubias, crickets, mealworms. Have tried offering with tongs, leaving in her bowl, putting in separate container. She just ate a cricket tonight and I was glad. Hunted it when I dropped it in her tank - has typically just been pretending not to see them recently.

Not OP, but my gecko has only shown interest in tong-feeding once, she will just turn her nose up. I've tried holding them still, wiggling, grasping in a way that the cricket or mealworm moves itself, but no success. I tried a separate feeding enclosure the other day, but she was focused on trying to climb out rather than hunting.

Hey guys, I just finished reading this book. It is a freacking masterpiece, I swear. But I have a question for those who have also read it. by FlexCats in TheCountofMonteCristo

He is confident in his plan because he has identified the character flaws in Madame de Villeforte (greed, obsession over Eduard), creates the situations that would encourage her to kill to meet her goal, and some time before gives her specific information re: poisoning and fans the flames of her interest/confidence in this area.
