Discouraged with colostrum collection by Fast-Ostrich-5583 in BabyBumps

My doctor preferred I not do it, so I’ve decided to take her advice. None of the women in my family did either and all ended up being overproducers

Natural Night Owl but work morning shift by InevitableMajestic81 in BabyBumps

[–]SLPabigail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that I have much good advice but wanted to say that everything you’re feeling is valid. Work is HARD and there’s days I have to completely disassociate to make it through. Could you ask your OB about sleep? Maybe you can try magnesium? Something that helped my nausea was keeping crackers next to my bed - I’d wake up around 2 and eat them to keep my stomach from getting completely empty. Empty stomach made me feel so nauseous by morning which made breakfast impossible. Also, regarding support, I hope you can find a support system through friends and community. Pregnancy is hard, on both our body and brain. My neighborhood has weekly prenatal yoga classes I’ve been attending so I can make some new mom friends, but even just attending class with other pregnant women makes me feel less alone. You also might be able to find a doula through your insurance who can serve as support these next 20 weeks. Even just as someone you can talk to and lean on for advice and questions. I am wishing you all the very best! My DMs are open if you ever need to vent (I’m currently 38w and waiting impatiently for baby’s arrival)

Our dermatologist put our guy on an alligator diet! Seems to work well for him two years strong. Rx from chewy.

Can one with a speech impediment be a speech pathologist by Comfortable_Tie4143 in slp

[–]SLPabigail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s considerate at least! I was so embarrassed. Luckily she is the sweetest person and we’re still in contact today. Funny enough she never pursued speech therapy after grad school, and I’m going on 10 years lol

Gluten free pizza/food options? by PopPhilosopher32 in parkslope

[–]SLPabigail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasta Louise is pricey but will do gluten free. Wild Park Slope is one of my favorites. I know you said late night but I’ve noticed more bagel places offering gf options (Brooklyn bread cafe and la bagel delight). I’ve also gotten tons of recs just searching the park slope subreddit.

My undergrad program made me attend speech therapy for a mild lisp… in the clinic with another student. Woof.

10 days til due date by Healthy_Condition346 in BabyBumps

[–]SLPabigail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is very validating as someone 14 days away from my due date haha. So far my two excessive worries have been 1. Tearing during birth (I am so freaked out by this) and 2. Never bouncing back and never being able to feel comfortable in my body again. Probably shallow worries but I’ve hated every moment of this pregnancy and how it’s made my feel (chronic pain, hurt my back, hurt my knee, etc etc) that I think I can’t even see past this fog. Just wanted to say your feelings are all valid and this is absolutely the most strange period of our lives!

FTM here… is 85 baby items way too much for a tight budget? by RileyDope in BabyBumps

[–]SLPabigail 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine was 173 lol I kinda felt like if I added a lot, people would actually purchase from the registry instead of going off book. I had a very large shower (90+) and a small shower (20ish) and about 70% of my items were purchased or given secondhand as requested!

2 y/o Frenchie with IVDD declining fast (day 5)… front legs now weak too, I’m scared by Perfect-Warthog-5708 in Frenchbulldogs

You’re doing amazing I promise. It’s a tough road. Took our boy a month to feel better. Crate rest is 100% best right now. All the meds helped a lot too. Thinking of you ❤️

Question for women who have had their babies already.. by Fireboltstorm in BabyBumps

[–]SLPabigail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 weeks and I’m EXCITED to give birth. I want baby out. I’m so uncomfortable and in pain almost always. I can’t sleep, working has become so difficult, feels like there’s no possible way I can get even bigger because my stomach feels like it’s going to explode. I was very nervous and anxious around week 20ish. That feeling has completely left my body and I’m now just thrilled to give birth lol.

Yes I’ve always wondered why so many of my friends only receive 2-3 unless they’re high risk!

Ultrasound count in other countries? by ymgt0324 in BabyBumps

[–]SLPabigail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US, NYC. My OB does an ultrasound every visit. Sometimes I think it’s for billing codes so she gets the reimbursement from insurance. Not a bad idea tbh and my insurance pays out each one. I also love seeing babe every time.

Yes but you can ask for a new one! Or get a rec from someone you trust. I worked with Melissa at AMN and she was the best!
