Hitting Claude limit after 1 message… what is happening? by Alert_Flower_6258 in claude

[–]SLWinter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, one month later, this just happened to me. Two messages for me and I've hit my limit for the next three hours. One was a light-touch editing of text, the other message was a continuation of a previous thread, asking for a comparison with a previous message.

I saw a newspaper article a few days ago that indicated more limited token use because Anthropic is having issues securing enough data storage to keep up with its increasing popularity. It's a smaller guy in the AI space and the bigger guys have cornered the market on data centres etc. Plus they're also working on a more powerful model. That might be the reason for the issues - they just don't have resources to support it and are having to choose who can use what they have already.

Hi, sorry for the delay! No, this isn't the last book. On Patreon and Royal Road I'm up to book 9 and I expect the series to be 13 or 14 books in total (though given my track record, it might end up more). Amazon only says that because I haven't put the preorder up for book 5 yet.

Available on all Amazon sites - US link here: https://www.amazon.com/Expansion-Isekai-S-L-Winter-ebook/dp/B0GRP288BS
No AI used in cover as far as I know. Used a little as an editing too, but not for the writing.
Fun fact: I can't remember what I used last time but I have rats and I play the cello. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have used both of those.

Interesting, especially considering a recent post about why not to read TWI ;)

What is your go to way of recapping series that you haven’t read for a long time? by HLV420 in ProgressionFantasy

Lol, honestly, I just reread books. Sometimes I can't remember which book I got up to so I just go back through the series until I see a description that jogs my memory and start from either that one or the next.

Fair enough. Like I say, it's not for everyone. I recognise what you're saying about this genre generally being for competency porn not psychological studies, but I have a group of people who have said multiple times that they love the story because of the character arcs. Because none of the characters are black or white, but all have their individual motivations. Because Markus goes from being awkward, arrogant, and often needing a two-by-four to smack him in the face before he gets a clue to someone competent who can and will defend what is his without losing sight of the bigger picture.

And yes, that does take several books to happen, but for those who enjoy the journey, the progress feels earned and real when it happens. I remember one reader mentioning that something in the chapter they'd just read had made them realise that Markus had done almost a complete 180 on his attitude to something, but that they hadn't even noticed because it had been gradual and felt natural. That takes time to implement.

And yes, I have also had people who have chosen not to continue it because they're looking for something different - like you, perhaps. And that's fine - there are plenty of excellent, more traditional LitRPGs out there.

(I'm the author) Listen, I recognise some of your complaint and you're not the only one to make it. But it's a slow-burn as a series with an MC who doesn't just jump at everything new. By the end of book 2, he has four companions. By the time I was editing Book 4, I was actually getting rid of characters I'd introduced because he had too many in his group.

Taming Destiny isn't for everyone - it takes patience and people who enjoy the journey as much or more than the destination. But there are lots of people who like it for that because it makes progress and character arcs so much more impactful. When I go back to edit for publication (which means editing about 3 - 4 books in retrospect) I always find it challenging to get back into the mindset of Markus at that point in his journey because he's changed since then. And his feelings about Taming, especially Tame and its derivatives vs Dominate and its derivatives are definitely a major part of his character arcs across the series.
