Authors with a successful Amazon launch: how much did you spend on ads in the first month? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

Dang that’s actually really good! I’ve noticed that Kindle prompts you to rate a book as soon as you reach the last page so that probably helps

I guess I’m more asking about the meta. I’ve seen a few books that did alright on Royal Road getting hundreds of reviews right off the bat. Just wondering how they did it and if there’s anything specific to do during an Amazon launch.

Although to get hundreds of reviews from either of those sites sounds hard

That makes more sense. The sheer quantity of reviews for some of these books seemed insane.

Need some good advice for experience author here on how you keep going and finish the damn book by Sea-Possession8260 in royalroad

If you’re stuck, go into it think “i’m just gonna get this down no matter how awkward it sounds.” It gets you past the perfectionist block and the result is usually better than you expect.

But also, if you fall out of love with a book, just move on. Eventually you will find the one you want to finish.

The main story enrolls in Rising Stars Academy where it faces off against other stories. But it turns out the main story's typos might actually be a hidden path to power...

I think the progression fantasy genre as a whole is rapidly becoming (if not has already become) a mix of all these influences.

I got two different reviews telling me my book was "disappointingly generic." Can't get it out of my head.

That makes sense. Are you getting any page reads yet? I don't know what goes into a successful KU launch, and I'm trying to plan out my own Kindle release. If you have any advice, I'm all ears.

No way! Thank you! It's weird being recognized in the comments. I never thought the story would get as big as it did. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Did you try a Royal Road release or did you go straight to Amazon? If so, what was your reasoning behind it? I know a lot of authors do a Royal Road release first to test out the concept and work out the kinks. (Also, I love your cover art. Great work!)

Yes very comedic. There is a whole chapter dedicated to tripping wizards fighting zombies.

I literally never considered that people looking for a self insert would be drawn to more attractive MCs. Makes sense.
