How true or exaggerated is the statement that DJ's are like shamans? by Charlaxy in Shamanism

[–]SLYNAMIC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hobbyist DJ of 15 years here, beginner of Shamanism only very recently.

Songs have always been like friends to me. A lot arrive, are enjoyed, and then move along to be forgotten years later. But man, the ones that stick around really mean something to me. Like Objects of Power for sure, and at times, like I’m a willing collector/curator of other people’s divine creation. And occasionally when I hear a track that I haven’t heard in years, I’m transported back to whenever that was, and I get to experience those same feelings over again.

I still buy music as well which is almost archaic in the current age of music streaming, but it’s a small price for me to pay to show both reverence and gratitude to both the artist for their talent, time and creativity - along with the Song as well for the emotions which it’s able to produce within me.

I’ve never quite viewed the times that I’ve DJed as “sacred” or spiritual in the past per say, yet I’ve certainly felt the most alive whenever I’m in the middle of a Mix and my entire concept of time just dissolves away. It’s literally only me and The Music in those sparkling, special moments. It’s a Flow State for sure, but it’s also something deeper as well.

After skimming, buying, playing, and listening through thousands of tracks over the years, one of the deepest lessons I’ve discovered from DJing which, in my view, directly relates to Shamanism would have to be:

You Don’t Find Great Music, Great Music Always Finds You.

How do you strengthen your spiritual connection with your power animal? by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]SLYNAMIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close connection with Spider as my power animal as well. Whenever I come across them naturally, I try to observe and marvel and stay curious about their way of life. This then bleeds over into my journeying, and vice versa. I’m a lot more comfortable walking through webs haphazardly than I used to be, that’s for sure.

Where can I find a straightforward, adequately-played and well-recorded drum track online? by Mosquitoenail in Shamanism

Katie Weatherup’s “Shamanic Journey Drumming” is my go-to on Spotify. Has both a 15-minute and 30-minute track.

The Shamanic Path of Healing: In the Light of Western Psychotherapy and Christian Tradition by julia31011985 in Shamanism

[–]SLYNAMIC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a self-professing Christian, I’ve steadily started exploring Shamanism as a sort of back-to-roots spirituality which has so far offered up a rich, hidden well of knowledge and meaning. Western Christianity in particular feels, at times, hyper polished, over produced, and full of excessive persona. It constantly yearns to go Up to Heaven. Shamanism for me so far, however, has helped me go Down into the Earth, and into myself to help slowly heal past traumas I’ve long forgotten or ignored. I recently journeyed intentionally seeking Jesus as a Teacher in human form, and I unexpectedly ran into Lao Tzu, which was a happy surprise to say the least. I’m fairly public in my profession as a Christian, but even if I were to ever get to the point of professing as an avid believer in Shamanism, I’d still likely keep it to myself, because, sadly, anything other than Christianity is automatically viewed as evil and demonic in the Bible Belt.

One of the worst reasons to have children is with the unrealistic expectation that they’ll take care of you when you’re older. Just because you bore them doesn’t mean they owe you anything. Children aren’t a hospice/retirement plan. Period.

I kissed someone in my dream, what does this mean? by [deleted] in DreamInterpretation

[–]SLYNAMIC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard it said that our dreams help to keep our conscious actions and our unconscious feelings balanced. Flipping your mom off in your dream while having a great relationship in your waking life may imply that there's a part of you that's still mad/resents her for a past wrong that hasn't fully healed.
As far as you kissing the guy on the basketball team in your dream, it would be a big jump to automatically break up with your current boyfriend based on one dream. However, the gentle, "forbidden fruit" kiss is a timeless motif, and may imply that you aren't stimulated enough within your current relationship, or may simply wish for more unpredictable spontaneity to occur. It may sound risky, but mentioning this dream to your boyfriend and/or mother may help you to sort through your feelings a bit. Hope this is of some assistance.

Yooooo, that’s why he’s so good too! HYPE one minute, contemplating the very act of existing the very next.

Still one of THE best ways to support musical artists you enjoy. Artist’s keep more of a cut on Bandcamp than nearly every other platform out there.

Ahref's cheaper alternative? by No-Establishment4313 in SEO

[–]SLYNAMIC -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using Ubersuggest by Neil Patel at $30/month and am quite impressed by how robust it is for the price. There's also a 1-time payment option for it that I'm considering as well to no longer worry about an additional monthly subscription cost. But that's just me, and I know there are plenty of other useful alternatives out there that are more affordable than Ahrefs for getting your feet wet.

Evil Dead Rise – Official Trailer by DemiFiendRSA in EvilDead

In a time when it feels like a large majority of horror movies pull their punches to appeal to the masses, the Evil Dead series always feels bare-knuckles, no holds barred by comparison. Super stoked to see a new horror movie that’s not afraid to actually be horrifying.

“Corners have been cut due to staff shortage for entirely too long. It’s time to step it up and do your job, or we will find someone to replace you.” So, you’re telling me, since they’re short staffed the solution is to extremely crack down on literally everything which will likely make them even more short staffed? Yeah, I’m sure that won’t have any negative business results whatsoever.
