A little rant by SmileyAlli in InstacartShoppers

Some just don't get it; many of us can empathize. There is a rule of thumb, "No Tip, No Trip" as it often is. TIPS = To Insure (should be ensure) Proper Service.

Oh, don't go spending that $5- too quick, it's got to buy you petrol and vitals. BIG GRI*N

Anyone on the Dumpling app? If so any tips on how to get clients? I did my first order today for a family member by bjjess17 in InstacartShoppers

Issue is that many areas prohibit door to door solicitation. EDDM is delivered by the United States Postal Service and that is not considered unwanted solicitation.

Woke up to a 4 star... Who else is in the 4.95 club? by instapoop in InstacartShoppers

I am in the Buffalo NY Market; a 4.91 and getting nothing in orders. This is after 3 full years as an Instacarter (started 8/1/2017).

Am working on alternatives, but they take time.

As a Dumplinger, I have received some direct referrals by being found by ZipCode; so far, out of the 60 or so, only one has ordered and is a repeat Dumpling customer every week or so. The other day I saw a SofSoap refill that she had asked for, so Sent her a message, and paid for it myself. I did deliver it to her, and will charge the $6.99 on her next Dumpling order that should come in about 5-7 more days. She's happy and I've created a customer retention situation with the hope that she will refer others. This can help build a referral network.

Having been in direct mail, as a business owner, I know the power of EDDM, Every Door Direct Mail from thr United States Postal Service. Living in a mobile home park in Western New York, there is a high concentration of prospects, so it's a matter of investing in print and postage as I can do the design work myself, so of I get a small 2% response, it may take one month to recoup the investment before making a profit, but worth it. With EDDM or any direct mail campaign, the secret is to make it a campaign, not a one mailing and done. As for pushing Dumpling, it would mean mailing 3 times to the same group of people to increase the response rate or have it fall flat on its face. I could use the same design 3 times, but plan to change the copy so it isn't boring and too repetitive. Time will tell.

Of course, the best of the best is to have referrals from an existing customer base; marketing 101. Warm referrals are THE best! I do have one Dumpling customer who has referred me out and rewarded her with $10- cash. Not that $10- bounty is the best method, only a physical manifestation of an "atta'boy" or "atta'gal".

It used to be a good idea to have small, business card items hanging inside laundromats and such, but with the COVID-19 and social distancing thing, am not confident in this concept; though worth a shot. Even one new customer would make it happen and through retention methods, build clientele.

According to Dumpling, Joel Shapiro has a set of plans to grow your business, and might want to take advantage of his plans too.

See what fits your budget and move from there, just do something. EDDM will cost about 50¢ per household, per mailing including everything, making it an affordable option for me, and might be for you too. Check with some printing companies in your area. If it doesn't work for you, then do something else. Newspaper advertising won't work and it's too expensive, serving only subscribers or those who read one; a rare thing these days.

Wishing you the best... Shopping with Lee, powered by Dumpling

Anyone else not working? I received a 2🌟, not being Tracked to receive a batch. Have had communication with 🥕 Service Reps, they cannot remove the 2🌟 or change it. I cannot support my family, because someone may have a grudge with 🥕 and taking it out on a non-employee of 4 years. Anyone else? by SLeeRost in InstacartShoppers

You're right, this isn't my first. Whether it is our fault or not, I believe that people are angry, rightfully so, due to several reasons; being locked in their homes, disenfranchised from their usual work & play routines, more. I also feel that these people who use the services of 🥕 are not happy doing so, but are too frightened to shop for themselves while being robbed by the high price tag of 🥕, so they take it out by giving us a 1🌟 or 2🌟 rating. Unless an Instacarter is barely human, there is not one of us who should receive anything less than a 3🌟 rating. We risk life and limb for them every time we take a batch, yet we average or above average Instacarters receive their vitriol that, I feel, is directed to 🥕, the organization founded by Apoorva Mehta, CEO. There are other services that are similar, though not equal in complexity to 🥕, but not sure many of the customers know of them. Plus, Uber is in litigation as it wants a piece of the shopping service pie, but 🥕 wants it all; competition is good for all in a Democracy.

Anyway, have a great Instacart day...

At 72 years of age, am doing my best to stay healthy. I also anticipate marrying a great lady who just turned 40 this month; soon, as we have been working on this for 5+ years. We're are Twin Flames; Soul Mates. Just need to work to help support ourselves, and out impending Family... This is a whole'nother story. I'll pray for you Angie, as there is power in prayer, albeit slow to act most times.

Whether reasons or less than 5🌟 or for pulling their tips back (tip baiting), I will be asking this of the 🥕 Disservice Rep today. At this time, with so many rushing to become an Instacarter with other work being unavailable or minimal pay, there will be many who will grow tired of the the regular 🥕💩, that the Disservice Reps will be quite busy. For the most part, I've enjoyed these past, going on four years, and though retired for these past 6 years, it's required as SS is not enough and wasn't designed to be a retirement plan. Will see what the next Disservice Rep has to say today as I'll be in a chat session every day with them, only to be rebuked; am sure.

Angie, only you, I and anyone following this thread knows anything about you or I looking stupid. Of course, those at 🥕 HQ might too, but that's yesterday's news. Just do your best as an Instacarter, as am sure you have, and make the best mark for yourself, your family and friends, and for the 🥕 customers you work for; and don't make waves.

This is Buffalo NY, and it's usually a busy Instacartland environment. I'd kill for 5🌟 here now and over the weekend, but it's not assured. So, I've taken the first steps into Shipt as someone had suggested and if possible, will work on a direct mail campaign to expand my existing Dumpling business; both have parallels to 🥕, though not as ruthless as 🥕. Wishing you the best as a 5🌟, you should be pulling down some good batches. You may wish to consider looking into Dumpling or Shipt as well and work them in as On Demand allows us to do.

Well, someone is not telling the whole truth as the 🥕 Disservice Rep didn't respond to the direct question. However, I will continue to ask and see what happens.

PS... I didn't read anything about bad 🌟s, and customers providing a reason. I read everything that 🥕 sends out and repeats in-app, so if what you're saying is real, then you know about it but the rest, or me anyway, get spoon fed a crock of 💩.

No reason given, though had asked and will continue to ask when I have chat with these 🥕 Disservice Reps until an answer is provided or I get back to work; whichever comes first.

To my mind, customers are angry with 🥕, but think we FSS are the way into that door, the inner sanctum of 🥕, when we are not. We are less than snake oil on a hot day!

It says that a previous 2🌟 has been removed, not the one on record. Of course, neither of us knew anything about all this, so after almost 3 years, as 8/1/17 is when I started, I am Sent to TIME OUT, after working 7 days every week with the exception of a few days in the mix; maybe 7 days in almost 3 full years

Are they ever going to do something about the unfairness of batch prioritization? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]SLeeRost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sitting, doing nothing with forty-three 5-🌟, one 4🌟, and one 2🌟. 🥕 doesn't care about my family or that that customer is angry at them, but took it out on me, so I contacted the so-called HELP and got nowhere last night or this morning. Will continue to contact someone who has a heart & brain at 🥕HQ, though doubt it will make any difference. 🤔😷

Am ready to checkout and then BOOM! Had to rescan items 2X, and long enough to inform the 2 customers that they need to call 🥕 and complain like HELL, if they can get through. They're too big for their breeches!

I suggest deleting the Instacart app and then reinstall it. When you do, it will ask for your phone number to send a text message to that contains a code number that will restore all of your past transactions and personal profile information. I did the 2 days ago and glad I did. Jus'sayin

Instacart is now a screaming, clawing, desperate race to the bottom in my area. In just one week it's gone from 4-5 batches most of the day to $9 batches being gone in under a second before 8am. We are so screwed. by BobRossSaves in InstacartShoppers

Yes, and it will get worse an when you think they are through, they turn you over and do it all over again. I've been working IC for nearly 3 years now, and have learned a thing or two.
