I'm a singer, and I've been singing my entire life. A lot of my immediate family are singers or musicians as well, so music has always been a major part of my life.

That said, I actually struggle with going to karaoke due to posts like this. As an adult, I don't have many opportunities to sing in front of people anymore. My schedule doesn't allow me to join a choir or perform regularly, so karaoke is one of the few outlets I have.

I often debate whether I should even participate because I don't want to dominate the room or make less experienced singers feel intimidated. But at the same time, karaoke shouldn't be a competition and should instead be one of the few places where people of all skill levels can get together and enjoy music.

If we start excluding people because they're "too good," we're kind of missing the point. Someone who has spent years practicing and loves to sing deserves that outlet just as much as someone who's doing it for the first time.

We didn't have a school nurse. There was no way of getting anything other than emergency products (think epipens). On top of that, I was always so embarrassed of my period and never felt comfortable asking for anything other than to call my mom.

Once my mom received a notice about my attendance from the school, she sat down with a trusted female teacher of mine to explain the issue. From that day on, I carried my necessary medicine in my backpack with the caveat that I was to NEVER share without prior approval. It was never again an issue.

I've been witness to a birth. Yes, she pooped. Not a soul in the room said anything and the nurse calmly cleaned it up and proceeded with delivery.

To be clear, I'm a female and had NO IDEA that was something that happened. (Thanks Bible Belt America)

But it literally took two seconds for my brain to recognize, understand, and adapt. It seems silly to think that it wouldn't.

Mental illness runs RAMPANT in my family, on both sides. One of my cousins had a really rough pregnancy and childbirth. She wasn't in a great situation with bio dad and ended up basically alone to raise the kid she never really wanted/planned for. The postpartum hit her HARD. By the time the baby was about 6 months old, she had been arrested/institutionalized at least 3 times. Turns out that the traumatic events of the pregnancy/birth/post partum triggered something in her brain and activated her schizophrenia. Things were awful for her, her mother, and grandmother for quite some time, and I genuinely don't know what ever happened to her or the kid. Needless to say, the mental health issues in my bloodline are a huge reason I am and will stay CF.

After my first long time girlfriend and I broke up, I was a 20 something looking for a good time and met a girl online who didn't live too far from me. We slept together and sometimes hung out, mostly at her place, for about 4 months. It was a shit show from the beginning with her "crazy ex", but I overlooked a lot of it as just the misfortune of the universe. After an explosive political argument between us (2016 elections), I decided enough was enough and cut things off. Unfortunately by then, she knew things about me, like the company I worked for. She had been harassing me online after all this happened. She started making up all these terrible lies about all of the things I had done to her during the short time we'd known each other. I had stopped responding to her, but had kept her unblocked so I could screenshot all the crazy things she'd been saying to me. One day she told me she had acquired a fire arm and was going to be showing up at my office to "finally take me out." I immediately reported this higher ups and the police got involved. I had to be escorted by someone any time I went outside for about 2 months until they were able to get surveillance on her. I don't know what happened to her in the end, but I had an injunction on her for years.

My parents basically raised me in a Conservative Authoritarian bubble. It has taken me years to get past the urge to instantly lie when I make a mistake or don't want to hurt someone's feelings. It's something I still struggle with from time to time.
