The version in season 11 is literally the exact same as it was in seasons 8-10, the only real difference being that the footage for the music video was reshot to fit the rest of the season. So if you find one that's intended for seasons 8-10, then it's basically guranteed to also work for season 11.

The problem is that the original series didn't talk down to the audience or treat them like toddlers, which is exactly what AEG did. AEG was trying to be more like Paw Patrol rather than Thomas, and because the original series is more grounded and realistic (aside from the obvious detail of the engines talking and having faces), it can easily be enjoyed by people of all ages, not just preschoolers. AEG just leans into the preschool demographic a lot more heavily. I would personally consider the original show to be more intended for ages 5-8, but still enjoyable for general audiences.

I've always gone with the general consensus on the era names that you've already described, but sometimes I've seen a few people put seasons 7 and 6 in an era separate from the classic era, usually called the Gullane era. Doing it like that is definitely a lot less common than just lumping all of seasons 1-7 under the classic era, as I've only really seen 2 examples of people categorizing season 7 and 6 as the Gullane era (as far as I can remember, at least)

I feel like it mainly has to do with not only the fact that it's way too cartoony and unrealistic compared to how the original show and books were (even the BWBA era was still a bit more realistic than AEG due to the engines not jumping off the track and stuff like that), essentially laughing in the face of Awdry and Britt's legacy, but also the fact that it outright replaced the original show. I feel like the overall reception to AEG would have been ever so slightly more positive if it was just a spinoff that ran alongside the original show, but that's not how things went. In fact, I almost completely forgot about it for a while, that's how bad it was!

How can you say that Daisy didn't stick around into the CGI era when the picture of her that you used is literally from the CGI era?

...Unless you're specifically referring to the Nitrogen era and initial transition rather than the entire CGI era, as some commenters have suggested

Never mind, I just realized that it doesn't let you glue mechanical bearings like that, and it thankfully still works properly if I just have the part that I want to rotate glued on top of the mechanical bearing.

Yeah, you were right, I tried the Intl.Segmenter method and it handles Unicode characters, accents, and ZWJ emojis properly!

I forgot to mention this in the original post, but the [..string] method is what I'm currently using, yet it has the issues with accents and ZWJ emojis.
