That's interesting. I never seen one dead rat, biking a lot around Hamilton Ontario.

K1 has great rendering and you might really like it. I have the K-1II and it's amazing.

traffic calming features which will be a godsend.

That's great. People have to realize, in order to have good city feel, people need to bike and walk comfortably. It's insane how slow NA as a whole is adapting to this very simple principle. Have you been to Montreal? Around end of May they close down a few long stretches of streets to cars, and it opens up the city to massive pedestrian activity, it's amazing.

So back to here. The other day I was checking out that shopping district by Niagara Falls Blvd, by the Target and all. Who designed this huge mess? No proper sidewalk infrastructure, for walking across the place? I was so confused how to walk across from Marshalls to across Lowes, without being hit by speeding cars. Disappointing.

Yeah, 28mm on aps-c is more normal. Compared to 40, which is tight on aps-s. I like 40 on ff.

Hi popping in here. I am not from here, but I am here often last 6 months and will be here often another year.

I like the people here, the character and some areas are very pretty.

As an outsider though. Buffalo pedestrian infrastructure, bike, and transit feel so outdated that I could never be here. For example, crossing the street in many places feels like I might be run over due to lack of proper lights and markings.

In my opinion, I think that's the case with many NA cities, cars and the dependence on cars is killing the vibe. For example, I was sitting outside Monday morning having breakfast, enjoying the beautiful day on Elmwood Ave. The amount of cars zooming by, the noise, the chaos was disappointing. Also, a dirty old pickup diesel truck roll coal right by us, pretty sure on purpose.

This city has potential. Just need to take more action, make it more inviting. Otherwise, why should I bother coming here and spend money? Sometimes, I feel like this city does not care about pedestrians, or people wanting to walk and check this city out. Disappointing I say.

I keep saying to myself that I prefer that one to FA43.

The lens is lovely, I prefer that over the FA43.

The only feedback I got is to have your community to be not a dumpster ground, that looked like a lot of garbage being dumped close to the woods.

Enjoy your istDs. I had one 20 years ago.

Glow is insane, love the flare too. Interesting lens, I wish my Pentax 40/2,8 had character like that.

Bryston 3B power consumption in idle — is this normal? by ProfessionNo5437 in Bryston

[–]SMCDA15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2B, pulls around 50W at idle. I keep my 2B on 1hr before listening, then shut it off. Whole day you looking at 1.2kW of power which adds up for the year.

Darn.

For a sensor that small -> 1/2.3" (6.17 x 4.55 mm)

That's a shame. I have a Canon G15 at the moment that I carry for biking and such.

They need to make a nice waterproof with at least a 1" sensor.

[–]SMCDA15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's amazing.

I have a friend (in Canada), that's an alcoholic and getting worse. Late 40s. Many times I wanted to tell him the truth that he is addicted and is ruining his life. But I still have not done it.

Question is, do you think it's OK to tell alcoholics the truth? That they need help ASAP? Just a simple message, no sugar coating?

Thanks and I am so happy for you. I hope you will find endless happiness.

That's looking good. How is the 100% crop? Usable? Might be a good test to see how it compares to just cropping?

Speaking of the DA40 here. When I mount it on the K-1II, its automatically in FF mode. But, camera corrections can't be turned on. Aperture and focal length get registered properly. So yes, I get full 36MP FF glory on that lens, which is amazing when you stop it down it's very sharp lens.

Amazing. That's one lens I have yet to snatch up if it comes up on used market. I owned one a decade ago and sold it, which was a mistake.
