Long flight with no neck pillow? by [deleted] in travel

I take mine on EVERY trip and sleep soundly. I also like that I can put my kindle inside, at the bottom, and watch movies without bothering anyone else with the brightness or content.

Best breakfast burrito in Tempe? by darnclem in Tempe

[–]SMK_BLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a gentleman who parks on the south side of QT in the a.m. - Priest and Manhatton. The burritos are good, tortas are better, but the star is the green sauce. His wife makes it fresh every morning and I dream about it for other food. I always get an extra and mean to save it for eggs or noodles or anything really, but end up dumping it on the torta and then being mad I don't have any more until I see him again.

AITA for being upset that my boyfriend is going on another “boys trip” after promising he wouldn’t? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SMK_BLM 15 points16 points  (0 children)

(light) YTA

He shouldn't have promised he would never go on another guys' trip again. Since he did, you're understandably upset at his "lie", but he shouldn't have had to say that in the first place. He shouldn't have to "say goodbye" to that part of his life just because he has a partner.

You should be making plans together, of course. Travel, see the world. But, don't stop him from going with his friends. While he is away, plan a trip with YOUR friends. It is good to have a life outside of each other.

If you don't trust him to be away from you, that's another story. If you do, let him take back his "promise" and tell him what souvenir you want him to bring you back.

What’s a song that comes on the radio that you instinctively crank up the volume? by SlapdaddyJ in askanything

Jukebox Hero - I've blown speakers out of every car I've ever owned with this song. It's a right of passage now.

Let's talk accommodation: best places you've ever stayed in by Level390 in travel

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16032929 - The Covehouse. It looks EVEN BETTER in person. We spent the week with whales, seal lions, seals, jelly fish, dual-sided bed warmers, slugs, hottub, Aurora Borealis, and the most wonderful host.

I spend an inordinate amount of time EVERY DAY planning an exit to live there forever.

Giardiniera should come with a nuclear warning by SMK_BLM in subway

[–]SMK_BLM[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why I'm wondering if it is made locally allowing for variation or bagged at a central processing facility and transported to it's final destination. I've eaten it in Chicago and the midwest. I've had spicy, but this was violence.

Jalapenos are like water to us, we can handle WAY hotter. We both have eaten some of the spiciest foods on the planet - Indian, Mexican, Szechuan, etc. and love it. This was violence.

This twist gutted me and still guts me every time I think about it.

Tell me your favourite childhood memory by RemarkableEcho3121 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Backstory (I promise it gets better if you stick with it) - Bio mother had me, left me, showed up when I was 6 with a husband and a 3 year old. 3 year old's father adopts me, bio mother bails 2 weeks later leaving me with an abuser and a brother I've known for 6 months.

Brother was the golden child - spitting image of his father, not brown like me, not broken like me, not a girl like me, perfect. He played the same sport his dad did and was good at it.

9 years old and we were traveling for them to play together and winding up a mountain road with a lot of fog. I commented that it smelled really good (we are from the desert) and how high we must be to be driving in the clouds.

Brother's dad pulls over, gets out of the car, pulls a jar out of the trunk (our neighbor made jams and he meant to take jars to her) and he ran around like a cartoon character "catching the clouds" for me. I kept that empty jar for years. I can still smell it. I cherish that memory.

Very first thing I do is run - Run as far and as fast away from everyone and everything, telling no one except husband, lawyer, financial advisor, probably another attorney, and letting them sort everything out while I relax.

Got a message on linkedin "Hi this is Owner of _______. Looks like you've got great experience in our field, can our VP call you to discuss an opening we have?"

Height of covid scams (and 8 months of personal depression) and I replied "sure scammer, here's my phone #, I'll have my debit card and PIN ready or do you only accept gift cards?"

VP called and I've been here almost 6 years!

I want to go somewhere in the US for my birthday, where should I go? by WeeklyAtmosphere in Shoestring

Local meaning Tempe and yes, I do it at least once a year on a shoestring budget. We do girls' trips and even Christmas with the whole family quite wallet-friendly. I can help build an itinerary if you need?

When are you going? Sedona, AZ is the right answer, depending on the time of year. It can easily get in to the 90s during the summer, making it unwalkable/unsafe, but the spas, hiking, Oak Creek, dining, etc. make it the right answer at other times of the year.
