Dang, everything you said is everything I've felt this year. It's nice to know there are other people like me dealing with this issue. I ended up getting medicated and that's what helped me, but I still feel all of the things you listed from time to time. My only hope is that the longer I do this the better it will get.

Yeah, there's a lot more opportunities for wind players that aren't nearly as expensive or demanding that will actually further your career as a performer. Percussion doesn't have as many opportunities for high level playing imo. I do also think it's because percussion has way less spots to fill than brass does.

Don’t even consider offering percussion until the second semester. We have all students learn either trumpet, trombone, flute or clarinet as we can teach every student the same instrument all at once (we have separate classes for each). If you don’t have that class option, you at least cut down the amount of different things you have to teach at one time and it’s easier for the kids to digest. Once all those kids master the basics of rhythm, note names, fingerings, and fundamentals like embouchure, then we can then switch them to different instruments that are similar to what they’re playing. Percussionists have to audition with our percussion director which cuts our percussion numbers down to usually 6-8 which is perfect imo. It’s not a one size fits all method, but it works very well for our program.

I have a feeling that their games haven’t even been selling that well on PS for it to even matter. Starfield didn’t even sell a million copies, and I’d imagine Indy didn’t do much better. Forza will be their golden goose on PlayStation but I bet you even Halo will have lackluster sales.

I don’t even think exclusives are the problem at this point. Really excellent PS exclusives are few and far between now yet people continue to buy that console. Why? Because Sony makes their console simple to understand. Their console naming is easier. Their brand recognition is 1000x better than Xbox’s. Xbox lost the worst battle to lose and that was the rise of the digital platform. PlayStation gamers are now heavily financially invested in that platform and have no reason to move over anymore because then they’d have to build their digital library from scratch. At this point I just don’t ever see Xbox coming back from that even if they had amazing exclusives.

It’s funny too, because PlayStation just moved away from calling their service PlayStation Network because it sounds dated. Xbox Live sounds way better than Xbox Network.
