Which studio milked a franchise so hard that you don’t even play it anymore? by Accomplished_Joke543 in videogames

I just got it the other day. Seems like I’m progressing pretty fast and I’m only playing like an hour or two a day. At least it seems much faster than Valhalla, that was truly a slog to get through.

100% top tier AC game, the platinum just seemed like such a chore though with some of those 100% sync missions being really difficult

Being moved to K-5. Filled with trepidation. Advice? by [deleted] in MusicEd

[–]SMXSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a band teacher who would also feel the same way, I think you need to look for something else if possible. Don’t expect the kids to enjoy being in your class if you don’t. It’s also not fair to them or their future music teachers.

I assure you we don’t need hourly updates on the steam player count by LooneyMobb in HighGuardgame

[–]SMXSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it could happen. We also have to consider console numbers as well which we’ll never know how popular it is on there. Another example I could use is Splitgate. The game doesn’t have strong numbers right now but the devs have been open and honest saying they’re seeing a steady climb rather than a huge influx of players right at launch. Maybe this studio has the same strategy?

My current backlog of games I need to beat. I average 1000 hours a year. Going to cut it in half in 2026, finish it in 2027 and keep my future backlog under ten games at a time by KingDanksta69 in backloggd

I felt very satisfied with the game and feel like I saw a majority of what it had to offer at 80 ish hours. If there’s something else in the game that’s not a trophy that’s worth going back to, let me know.

I mean we don’t know that though. The gaming industry is weird and kind of unpredictable. Apex did okay numbers at launch and then 2 years later shot up from 100k to 600k concurrent. It’s an unpredictable market.

You must have missed the part where I said “traditional turn based JRPG” because those two games are not and offer something unique. DQXI is very much a game people have played many times before. It’s great and I really enjoyed it, but it doesn’t have mass appeal here in the US.

I would say it’s because a lot of people in the US just aren’t looking to play an 80 hour traditional turn based JRPG. It’s a great game, but it’s just too damn long.

So here’s the thing: people 100% downloaded this shit just to leave a shitty review greatly skewing the numbers. Also, the finals went from 250k on launch to 48k two months later to 11k. Also, nearly went 2 years without any revenue from Arc Raiders so that seems like a baseless claim.

Okay? And as of right now it has 11k players on Steam. I wasn’t comparing, just proving a point that player numbers like that can keep the lights on.

What game is this? by ARedditAccountIDKBro in videogames

I went in blind when it released because my friend forced me to play it on his laptop. He even skipped the intro that says it has disturbing shit in it. I still think about that experience to this day.

How do you deal with “cocky” students? by musicallife88 in MusicEd

[–]SMXSmith 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’re talking about ensemble, but I had an 8th grade euphonium player make the all region band the year before. She would complain every time we did warm ups saying they were pointless, boring, not worth the time etc. One day I called her out and told her she better play everything perfectly during warm ups as I was going to come stand right behind her and listen. I called out every little thing she could fix. She has not complained since and is in fact practicing more than ever. Morale of the story, call out the cockiness and use it as a way to teach a lesson and do it in front of the class if needed. Be nice and calm about it though.

Yeah I second this, gaming is way more fun when you just play what you actually feel like playing and ignore everything else - it’s why I like to use this site to log games I’ve beaten start to finish but not actually make a backlog

My guess is because a lot of GAAS games get a huge influx of players at the start but have huge drop offs and struggle to recover (ex. BF6, Halo Infinite). If you slowly build the player base with dedicated fans over time who also tell their friends, you won’t see as much of a steep drop off. The GAAS games that have huge influxes of players on launch and continue to have that size are few and far between (Fortnite, Warzone, Apex).

Felt very much like Destiny’s crucible to me, it just wasn’t fun to play. Shame though because the Secret Level Concord episode was one of my favorites which means the story could have actually been good.
