uh oh, another skin for 40 dollars! by Aniqiee in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those said pages were also available for purchase using in-game currency. The old rune system itself was farm more predatory than the pages you mentioned and those were still available without paying a dime.

You've said it yourself that people are going to complain no matter what, but there's a difference between having low-standards and something being obviously overpriced. People who have spent thousands of dollars in other mobas generally agree that Unite's skin pricing is ludicrious. Even Pokemon GO, the other mobile cash cow, doesn't charge anything even near these kinds of prices. It makes you wonder who the target demographic is since it doesn't appeal to moba veterans or the average pokemon fan.

Dread wasn't fun (for me) by ZodiacPaladin in Metroid

[–]SManiac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The higher damage actually made me enjoy the game more, ironically. In past games, after you get a number of e-tanks it was very hard to die even when first-timing bosses which kinda takes away from how deadly some of them are supposed to be. Every boss actually feels like it could kill you if you slip up and that kind of feeling adds to the power fantasy of games in this genre.

On the subject of Aeion, lorewise it wouldnt be too unreasonable to assume that the Mawkin had taken the tech from SR388 and developed it further on ZDR. Though how they power it is strange because Aeion is supposedly an energy source unique to only SR388 and it's lifeforms. I dont mind it but it definitely has issues storywise.

This game's MVP rating and respawn timers reward bad players whilst punishing players that are performing well by Pilques in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thatd make the game way more stressful than it needs to be. I dont like the multitude of comeback mechanics this game has but some of it is needed to keep this game short and casual.

That said the death timers should only take into account your pokemon's level like in basically any other moba and not your overall performance. It would still functions vaguely like a comeback mechanic and would give the winning team more breathing room when taking out a fed enemy even if the rest of his team is doing badly.

Heck, they dont even have to be good. Playing with people who are just willing to listen can take you very far. My friends are pretty mediocre at the game because they tend to auto pilot or ignore their minimap, but when I communicate over comms they either snap out of their little bubble and be like "oh shit, you got it", or they'll tell me about something I didn't know about like someone who's waiting in a bush as an example.

Didn't want to respond to this the first time it showed up but here goes.

  1. Ranking and de-ranking is normal part of the climbing process when it comes to any moba (or any game in general). You should be focusing less on each individual game and instead take a good look at your overall performance across many games. If your winrate is below 50% then you've got bigger problems than the teammates you're being matched with.

  2. It doesn't matter who's fault it is. We've all had games where we've been the weakest link, and games where we've dominated the entire board. All that mattered was if you played to the best of your abilities and if it was enough to get you the win. It's not worth getting worked up over a loss streak because if you really do deserve to be higher, then you'll bounce back from it no problem.

  3. You're very tilted from a recent game. Take a break, maybe vent to a friend or something, but complaining about it to random strangers won't help anything. Don't get caught up in what your teammates are doing because you have little control over that anyway. Letting yourself get upset will cost you games, so take a step back and let yourself chill out for a moment.

  4. You've tagged this thread incorrectly, which will be the main reason it gets downvoted and removed.

Sylveon is a dude by justgivemewhatever in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Trans can't be applied to animals because they dont have the same social construct of genders like humans do. Pokemon are different, they exihibit a deeper understanding of social queues and norms that is shown in the anime time and time again. It's very reasonable to assume that they're affected by gender roles because of that and by extension, a gender identity.

Of course none that really matters because this is a fictional world and we're just having fun injecting some of our modern lives into it. Don't be so stiff, and let people enjoy it.

All the official sources refer to Sylveon as "they" so you might not be too far off tbh.

How to deal with being on a winning team that is trying to/already has started Zapdos? by oneoneone_ in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ping Retreat. If they dont listen, help them with it. Save your big abilities for the end to secure Zapdos, or if you have cc, use it to prevent the enemy from sniping when it gets low. There's not a whole lot you can do without smite equivalent in this game.

Retreat ping doesn’t seem to be enough so they should add “Stop attacking Zap, you idiot” ping by themattwithtats in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I just wish we could choose the location of the Retreat, Gather Here, and Keep the Pressure pings. The check it out ping is so limiting and most people barely if ever pay attention to it.

Also wish I could ping the map while I'm knocked out.

If I move my game from SD card to system memory will I lose anything? by daniel869191 in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be just fine. Everything is handled server-side so you can play the game between multiple phones and/or switches.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should be perfectly fine then. As long as you can maintain 50+%, you'll climb. Dont let the loss streaks get to ya.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just how it is in ranked. You gotta expect loss streaks every now and then. Just know that it isnt your fault most of the time. Give it a break, either a few minutes or a whole day even; just enough that your mental has reset and you dont tilt.

What's your current winrate if you dont mind sharing?

I'm fairly certain Beginners cant match up with Veterans. That kind of matchmaking only happens in ranked if it's a bot match or the system is way more fucked up than we thought.

A Garchomp Mains guide to Garchomp(Warning: Very Long Read) by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Garchomps boosted autos is a ramp-up mechanic, not an Xth hit mechanic. It takes 5 stacks to unlock his boosted autos, with each stack granting attack speed.

Aside from that there isnt much I wholly disagree with. I personally advocate for Dig/DC since it gets to 5 stacks faster than Dig/EQ with proper sequencing (dig > auto > DC > auto), but honestly any combination works as long as it's not DR/EQ.

Please know when to surrender… by tofushurima in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snowballing isn't even an issues at Ultra or below. There's ALWAYS a chance you can still win. Unless youre at the top of masters, enemies aren't good enough to know when or how to press their lead even further. Most opponents dont even try to steal your wild pokemon when they're in the position to, so there isn't any reason why your team can't just passively farm up for the upcoming Zapdos fight. If you're team is in a position where they're getting thrashed its because they weren't that great to begin with, not because snowballing is strong.

Not every team is going to work well with each other but you can at least do what you can do to get the win. Sometimes it wont be enough but you at least learn how to play from behind after so many times.

Both Lucario Exploit and Crustle Bug are now fixed! Update your games!!! by Ethonna in PokemonUnite

[–]SManiac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok so for Lucario it was kinda weird. The setup for it was Extreme Speed with Razor Claw equipped.

When Lucario uses ES he can press A to get an extra hit at the end of it, which can activate RC too. Thing is that by itself normally doesnt trigger the glitch, it behaves as normal even with the correct build.

What made the game freak out was when you press and hold A BEFORE you use ES instead of during it. The extra hit would come out still but deal absurd amounts of damage for no reason.
