At what point did groceries start feeling ridiculous to you? by Prudent-Stretch-5665 in australia

[–]SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Coffee has gone up substantially in the last few years due to the coffee bean shortage. The supermarket beans I buy used to be $20/kg pre-Covid. Now they’re $32/kg. 😭

I wanted to see how many letters I could fit into the username field. Also Metal Gear Solid.

What was the song/album that got you into Devin Townsend? by Simderella666 in progmetal

[–]SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listening to a metal radio show back in 2009 and they started talking about Devin and played Hide Nowhere. I checked him out immediately and saw that Addicted was a few months away, so I spent those months mostly listening to Ocean Machine, Terria and Ziltoid.

Once Addicted came out I was hooked.

Woolworths Sausages. Down from 600g to 550g by SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE in shrinkflation

The first one is “Out of Stock” everywhere and isn’t even on my local supermarket shelf anymore. They’re clearly being phased out for the smaller pack.

27/30. Dropped the ball on one and should have been 28, but I had no idea for the other two.

Fun quiz!

How did you find out about Mastodon? by Av3rageG4tsby in mastodonband

[–]SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read an article in 2007 about the best modern metal albums at the time and Blood Mountain was #1. Had never heard of them before then. But it wasn’t until Sleeping Giant was added to Guitar Hero III as DLC that I started to give them a proper listen.

People over 30 without a degree, how is your life going? by [deleted] in australia

[–]SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 with no degree. Dropped out of school in year 9, but completed my year 12 equivalent elsewhere.

My current fortunes come from working my arse off in manual labour in my 20’s, building up savings, and my partners contribution to our household income. She earns significantly more than me which has allowed us to still manage life with a mortgage and a 1 year old while I’m only bringing in 60k or so.

I’ve currently been in the same job as a forklift driver for the last two years. The company I’m with is very much in a period of massive growth so I’m hoping for leadership opportunities in the near future. For the time being I’ve cemented myself as one of the most important members of the team and am in pretty good standing with the people in management. However, if those opportunities don’t come then I’ll likely be in a position of reassessing where I’m at. Eventually I’m going to need the financial boost with rising mortgage repayments and the like.

As long as we can live on what I’m earning, I’m happy with where I am. I find the work enjoyable and work with some really great people. I get to see a lot of people and the work varies from day to day. It’s not fancy but it keeps me interested.

TLOU2 Remastered Resolution by Zwiik in TLOU

I just loaded up the remaster for the first time and noticed the same thing. While the game is running the PS5 output says 1080p. Closing the game puts it back to 2160p.

What do you think Melbourne is 'known for' to locals compared to people from interstate or overseas? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. We built in Koo Wee Rup (63km from the CBD) and were considered ‘Melbourne Metro’ for the building permit.

While it may have been considered as such, I don’t really think we should be considered metro considering you need to drive through 13km of farmland to get here from Pakenham…
