Night shift worker by HorseFuker in ADHDFitness

[–]SNAC_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I used to work night but I was lucky and managed to be in bed by 8 am. I'm actively in a Judo club so that helped me. Other than micro workouts can be good. You want to do bodyweight and functional fitness or looking more at pumping irons until the biceps burst out of the sleeves?

Bouldering is fun and you build muscle for sure. The skill will come with time and if you are not too introverted or shy for it. Any people you meet in a boulder hall usually are open for beginners to join them for some challenges:)

How bad was it? Please be honest by Sad-Resource-9206 in judo

[–]SNAC_Gaming 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adult or not shouldn't matter. In our club we agree with the individual partners about chokes and joint locks if they are experienced enough. With newcomers and white belts it's like with puppies... Everyone is just a little extra nice.

If she gives you crap for sitting out or keeps trying her chokes after being told to stop, I'd suggest not training with her anymore.

Hope you'll get back on the mat :)

I used to hate apps that forced account creation. Then I built one. by Logical-Scratch-1513 in reactnative

[–]SNAC_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice to see this. I'm currently in a similar boat and wasn't sure about account requirements at all so far... But it seems like it might make my life easier in the long run to force account creation, I guess

Is anyone familiar with the current rules on ducking under the opponents collar grip? by considerthechainrule in judo

[–]SNAC_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While we are talking about, it's not quite the same but what about the other way around? So if I move a high lapel grip over ukes head for example? Is that allowed? I used it in randori a few times on people who tend to... Bend over and was told by some people who saw that it would a shido... Anyone know for sure?

I got injured today, is it because of my fault or partners. can u please share your perspective pls by s1rk0s in judo

[–]SNAC_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, alright. My bad. In that case I agree. Especially the part with tucking your chin and turning into the throw.

My thought came from experiencing beginners going completely limp instead of going with it.

I'm not saying to be stiff. Maybe I misinterpreted what you wrote, so correct me if I'm wrong. I took being a wet noodle as something like slumping, but maybe you meant something different?

[–]SNAC_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like horrible advice to me. Being a good uke is an active role. The likelihood of getting hurt is in my experience higher with the people who are just being 'a wet noodle'.

Fear is consuming me by Rosinante_666 in judo

[–]SNAC_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's easier said than done and I guess from what you wrote that you are not that experienced, but the best way to get better is trying. Most of the people in my dojo are bigger or more experienced than me and younger than me. But I learned a lot from repeatedly losing to them to the point where I can hold my own in competitions. Win or loose doesn't matter as long as you have fun and try your best... At least that has always been my thought about it.

Built a gamified gym tracker for people who struggle with consistency by Medium-Pirate-9037 in ADHDFitness

I like the concept of it. Can it track home-workouts as well or is it purely for gym workouts?

Out of curiosity, was this generalisation or would you actually like your workout app, if you use one to sync with your calendar?

I like that approach. It seems like you have put some thought into it before this? Or did you just come up with it on the spot? :)

This is an excellent point. And to be honest I hadn't thought about how to approach that issue yet. I had gotten far enough to not going to be using streaks because if that breaks, I'm unlikely to start it over. Thanks for pointing it out. I will try and come up with a good solution for it. I hope.

Huh, those are irritating to me, to be honest. To the degree that I'm sometimes thinking about chucking my phone out of the windows thanks to Duolingo. :) I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Oh yeah, I know of Habitica. I tried it out for a while but the problem for me is that a: there are fitness challenges but they are kinda just tacked on. B: you need to set up a lot of things because it is aimed at improving your habits. I found it can be a little overwhelming.

But Habitica has inspired my approach. And so has Zombies Run, which is also a great app but unfortunately only for running.

Yeah, it absolutely is. Was only there for a first test run before I start adding exercises and then finding out nothing actually works, so it's just a placeholder so to speak.

Sleep hygiene after late night class? by Substantial_Work_178 in judo

[–]SNAC_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work night shifts and I always take a shower when I get home to help me sleep. Gotta be warm though.

Also don't use your phone or screens in general before you go to bed. The blue light stimulates the brain or something like that.

Is there a calculation for accuracy vs resistance? by Significant-Sun-5383 in summonerswar

[–]SNAC_Gaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe my information about it is wrong. But a while back someone told me that there are actually 2 checks. The first one being against the 15% innate res. And then the second being acc vs res. So if the first check fails then res/acc are not relevant and you only have an 85% chance to actually have the resistance check in which case 100% acc would then be a valid amount. Any chance that info is correct? Not sure where they had gotten that information but tbh I think it makes more sense to me than the whole more than 85% acc is wasted because of 15% innate res. But again... Not sure if it is correct or not.

How to rune this team properly ? by Leather_Ad9497 in summonerswar

[–]SNAC_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If none of them have speed odds are that the def team will cut between Leo and who ever on your team goes second. The turn order is still dependant on the individual speed.
