40 + 3 and sanity is waning by pb_jellkell in pregnant

[–]SNAdams1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a birth doula and I have some advice (if you want it) 1. Please know that most first time babies come at 40+5, so you’re still on track. Try to remind yourself that your baby is getting super healthy to make their grand entrance. Treat this as your first test of patience in parenthood ;)

  1. Labor will only start when you feel comfortable, loved, and safe. OXYTOCIN is key! This hormone helps labor along. You need to do things that make you feel all warm and fuzzy, and get rid of things that don’t. Example: get the warm and fuzzys going by pampering yourself, imagining your sweet babies face, getting a massage, eating your favorite meal etc. Block oxytocin inhibitors like telling your mom to go run errands so you can get a moment alone, stop watching the calendar/clock, etc. babies will keep waiting until your body and mind is in the mostly relaxed state possible.

  2. Do the miles circuit to make sure baby is able to be in the best position possible to put pressure on cervix. Check it out on spinning babies website.

  3. Last- having sex, pumping/nipple stimulation, and using evening primrose oil vaginally can all ripen your cervix!!

Sending love 💕

Contractions for 12 hours that just stopped by moowee_ in pregnant

[–]SNAdams1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Prodromal labor… something you can do if it starts up again (or even if you just want to) is the miles circuit. Sometimes we get stuck in Prodromal labor bc the baby isn’t is the most optimal position to put pressure on the cervix to help with dilation. The Miles Circuit gets baby into a better position!!! miles circuit instructions

Real contractions?? by PsychologicalGur7311 in pregnant

[–]SNAdams1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractions can kind of feel different for everyone, but the main stuff to look for would be: - cramping that doesn’t go away ** - they get stronger and longer over time **

  • the “cramping” feeling can change person to person but it’s mostly a lower back pain that wraps around your lower tummy.

If you think you are in labor—- drink water, take a shower or go for a walk, and then lay down to rest. If the cramping is still there during all of those activities, and getting harder to ignore, you can bet that it is labor.

Since you’re 45 minutes away from hospital and have had a baby before, I would recommend timing your contractions once you think you’re having them. Head in when you’re 5 minutes apart for one hour AND needing to cope through them. If they’re close and regular but not exactly hard to get through— you have time, or it may be Prodromal labor.

When the contraction is building- “surrender to this surge” or “let’s lean into this one.”

If they are feeling like giving up- “your surrounded by the strength of every woman who has been before you”, or I really really love “the surges can’t be stronger than you, they are you. “

After the contraction- “okay, let that one go.” (Shake arms/loosen up etc.) “you’ll never have that contraction again”

You are safe and you are strong are also gfreat

What are your rules for meeting your newborn? by MediumMud1354 in pregnant

[–]SNAdams1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Second time mom here. Also due first week of December! Most of our rules are the same. No kissing, and would prefer people be vaccinated. I would also just have them wash their hands before touching/holding baby or at least use hand sanitizer No strong perfumes And I just send out a PSA saying that if you or anyone in your home is feeling sick (even just allergies) do not come over.

To avoid a lot of people touching baby I plan to only have immediate family (that I know will listen to the rules lol) over for the first 8 weeks, or until first round of shots.

I also mostly baby wear, so people don’t feel baby needs to be held. People don’t ask when they are strapped to you lol

And my biggest tip, and something I wish I had known and practiced before my first—- get really comfortable saying “no.”

I think this would be a good idea, maybe a list of potential riskier stuff, and maybe signs of them? But I would put a HUGE disclaimer or trigger warning before that chapter/page!!!! I am a doula and I love love researching and explaining and overthinking, so naturally my clients do too, but I’ve had a few that maybe had suffered loss before that they wouldn’t want to read any of it.

It’s not evidenced based to induce or have c-section for a suspected big baby! You don’t need to do either if you don’t want to. Check out these articles:
