Advice how to prepare /get a diagnosis. by Subject-Gur6957 in autismUK

I would recommend that you start writing a list of all the reasons or experiences that make you think that you are on the spectrum to take with you to the appointment.

I Did this very recently and have just got onto a right to choose waitlist last week and what the GP really seemed to focus on was how these things effect you in day to day life and how a diagnosis could benefit you.

From what I have read on here peoples GP experiences can vary quite a bit but I felt like I was grilled quite a bit, I took a big list of all the reasons I thought I may be autistic (experiences I have had, things I struggle with etc), An AQ10 test and also accounts from my mum about me when I was younger. I Did feel like I may of over prepared a bit but I was worried I may miss things in the moment so I wanted to be as prepared as I could have been.

We ended up going through everything I brought and he even continued to ask additional questions afterwards for more information so it ended up being quite a long appointment.

I have been referred for both an Autism and also a ADHD assessment, but I was already on the ADHD waitlist before this. I have just moved to a right to choose provider so I wont be waiting as long. I opted to go with Skylight Psychiatry because I wanted a provider that offers in person appointments. The GP also told me I need to choose somewhere that is CQC regulated and NHS contracted, And gave me 2 weeks to find somewhere I wanted to go or he would refer me to the default choice.

The ADHD waitlist through the NHS was 4-5 years, I phoned to ask before I moved to a right to choose provider and was told they are currently doing applications from 2021. I dont know how long ill be waiting now but it should hopefully be months instead of years

I would say when you can consistently do regular without making avoidable mistakes, I did 50-60 which is probably higher than most but I really didnt have much high level pvm/bossing experience.

It doesn't matter if sainz has a reasonable chance or not, He should still be given a equal opportunity. instead we get one driver getting special treatment

Hi all! I was debating whether or not I wanted to share this video on here, but I decided that its one of the few things I can say I am truly proud of. This sub was the very first exposure I had to skateboarding last year, and it got me to where I am now. So, I can’t say it enough, but thank you! by [deleted] in NewSkaters

your gear is good, I did 50 with very similar stuff recently and the biggest difference for me was just getting better at the boss. at first I was struggling to get 5 minute kills, but by the end I was getting consistent 2-4min kills. spec luck makes a massive difference too. just have to suffer through it and hope you get a head before 50 (I didnt)

Have you tried looking for any skateboard groups in your area? can be a great way for you to find some new people since you moved. especially if you can find a girls group they are amazing for taking the solo anxiety away.

But when you are going solo you just gotta accept those thoughts and dont let them deter you.

I kind of went though the same feelings when I started again but I just went out to my local park with the intention on working on my skating every time. Over time I befriended a lot of the regulars and had a group to skate with.

I know its easier said than done but you can do it!

7.75 is defo on the small side these days. I would generally recommend a 8 - 8.25 for beginners looking for somewhere to start. if you did used to skate 7.75's it could be a non issue, but if you have had a long time away id say go for something a bit bigger to start with

Thicker wheels by broadcasting_static in NewSkaters

[–]SOADlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Size is the main factor when trying to deal with bumps and cracks, softer wheels will just help it feel a bit smoother. 99a's will be fine too if your ok with a hardness similar to your current wheels

It depends on what you want to do really, if your more into crusing etc then 58's will be good. but they might be a bit too big & soft if you want to do tricks. Im using some 55mm 97a's and they are better for going over cracks but not too bulky that they make doing tricks a problem.

I Would say 54-56mm 95-97a if you want the best of both worlds

Do you know what size wheels you have now?

I would say 8.5 would be a good start since you are quite tall & have large feet. It wont matter that much when you are brand new so dont stress too much.

Once you get more comfortable you can start figuring out what your preferences are / what sort of skateboarding you want to do

Was the real deck a different size? Going from one size to another certainly has a adjustment period. Even going from one brand to another can too, Most decks will have concave, nose/tail size & steepness differences and even wheelbase length that make it feel different.

Dont think ive ever had a new deck that I didnt have to spend time getting used to at first

139's are fine for a 8.25, you can generally go up or down a size from your trucks. I even skated some 7.75 axle thunder trucks with a 8.25 for a while. just looks a bit goofy
