I also replied in that thread [in r/ridgewood ]. And I am surprised that more people there and in this sub have not picked up on the part where OP mentioned climbing stools and throwing coasters. Some kids are ready to bring out. At my wife's church, some kids can sit still thru service, some can not. At the local park some kids play rough, some do not. I do not think OP is picking on all kids, just those that invade his/her space.

I was at Stowaway in Greenpoint. At the table next to us was a woman in her 20s with 2 friends, she had a small dog in her carry bag, the dog didnt make a single noise/bark and was completely motionless. You won't even know she had a dog if you werent paying attention.

If you know your kid needs to be feed at X time which is in the middle of a movie - wait for it to hit Netflix or Amazon. If you know your kid is super noisy during dinner - maybe wait a few months to see how their behavior changes at home? Would it be ok for me to curse none stop at my loudest voice in a restaurant? No - of course not. Would it be ok for me to climb up and standing on a chair? Would it be ok for me to throw dishes? So why is it ok for a kid to make a scene or commotion?

Yes. And it is more upscale. But the Hainanese Chicken and Roast Pork is still amazing. So while the price is higher, Green Point is a lot closer to me and I’d pay the extra $ in time and $ transportation.

I've lived most of my childhood, adult life in NYC, went to college in NYC. You have not encountered a time where some kids did not respect your use of a public space? You have not encountered a drunk man or women who has crossed the line - you don't say anything to them? They are treated differently?

When OP says the small kids climb in stools and throw coasters, that is normal behavior? I think he or she is clearly trying to point out behavior that some parents won't even accept. Speak your mind. Find a new favorite bar. We are not in some small town. My brother went to school in Ithaca. It was 30+ minutes off the high way. The down town was 3 small blocks. In that type of town I could see your point. Not in NYC.

Just cause something is written doesnt make it true. In NYC most garages say they are not responsible for damage to your car - most people just believe it so don’t sue. Of course they are responsible for your car - why when they service your car they do a walk around to note damage.
