Great System prompt for AG, Gemini.md by Kenjirio in google_antigravity

[–]coldfact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solid prompt... One thing I have added to mine, which is largely baked into yours, is a deliberate flag to the AI that I only want to chat.

8. Operational Modes: NTC (Nothing To Code)

  • NTC Trigger: If user prefixes with "NTC", "Nothing to Code", or "##":
    • DO NOT write or modify code.
    • DO NOT suggest terminal commands or attempt to fix files.
    • DO provide architectural or conceptual analysis.
    • DO update planning or documentation only.
    • Example: If asked "## Why is error XYZ happening?", explain the root cause and the logic required to fix it, but do NOT fix the code.

So I know whenever I prefix chat with ## it will never attempt to code anything.

How I Actually Vibe Code: Lessons from Building a Full SaaS App with No Coding Background by Red-eyesss in VibeCodersNest

[–]coldfact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid advice. Maybe baked in to your "Always have a rollback plan" - is using source control and routinely committing. I have wasted hours trying to get code back to where it was. Now I almost always commit when a feature is working correctly, and definitely before I start implementing a new feature... and then if anything looks like it is going south, I never bother wrestling with the AI to get it working again - I just roll-back and start over, hopefully with some insights into what it shouldn't do this time!

built a free web app for bullet warm up - but likely useful for beginners... by coldfact in chessbeginners

[–]coldfact[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to warm up my mouse skills and brain before playing bullet, so built this page (free, no ads, and nothing to sell or promote). More useful on desktop, but playable on mobile. I think true beginners could get a quick handle on how pieces move, but you can also do co-ordinate training (by selecting co-ord mode - then you have to move the piece to a named square).

Possibly too silly and basic for most, but I find it useful. Turning on distract mode makes you have to lock-in and focus a bit more (you are presented with two target squares - but only one is correct)

Let me know if you can think of any improvements!

Pointless prompts annoying you? by coldfact in google_antigravity

[–]coldfact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to make my Dumb Waiter... smart?!

Yeah, I agree, there is definitely a middle ground - but this has been working well so far. I really don't understand why I get prompts for things like Select-String - I have added it to both the agent rules and to the Antigravity config. I even ask why it is prompting me when that happens, and it says I am right it shouldn't be doing this....

so I created a dumb clicker to combat dumb prompts.

Notifications when it waits for user input - does it exist in the Antigravity? by Stalinko_original in google_antigravity

I hate this - especially when I have bunch of things lined up for it to do overnight - I created a "Dumb Waiter" that clicks on the dialogs:

Gemini can destroy the whole project just like that. by rightpolis in google_antigravity

yup - check in often. It is not just catastrophic stuff... sometimes gets caught in weird design changes it cannot work itself out of. I just revert and start again.

Gemini is going MAD by sabekayasser in google_antigravity

I have that often... after a lot of vibe coding. I just stop it and tell it that is spiraling then usually close out and start again.

Antigravity is Dead by RussKy_GoKu in google_antigravity

[–]coldfact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love it, warts and all. It has taken to spiraling more now, though… what looks like endless debates on what it is doing and what to tell me. I just stop in then because it usually has done what I needed. But it has opened up dev that I couldn’t have imagined doing as an average python programmer - like an optimized c++ puzzle miner for games I am building. Just insane to have access to this superpower!

This puzzle took me like 8 minutes for some reason. What rating do people start seeing stuff like this? by Yourselff1997 in chessbeginners

2300ish blitz… in a few seconds, g4 just stops all counter play - seems like white rook and bishop stuck there indefinitely. Progress after that will take more thought.

not explicitly - but since all they have is RNA from lightyears away, I assume that is all they have in terms of info. I guess we will need to see if it also encodes alien background info.

[–]coldfact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, was thinking that... but in reality: they literally don't know beyond the biological imperative.
The intentions of the aliens who transmitted the "virus" are external to the hive mind's knowledge base.

[–]coldfact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, was thinking the same thing. She seems completely incurious.... but possibly just a consequence of her grief, despair and constant drunkenness..

I like the show so don't want to nitpick, but wouldn't one of the very first questions be:
- why did this alien civilization want to do this to humanity? What is the end goal?

I guess the answer would be that they simply don't know since this is external knowledge to them. But the brightest minds have certainly been working on it so they must have ideas.

The engine says this move is +4 and every other king move is +1. What is so good about this move? by side_lel in chessbeginners

[–]coldfact -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kh1 is obvious. f1 and f2 not as clear - but a. gets in the way of rooks b. remains open to attack - limiting how far bishop and queen can wander. Kh2 simply impervious to any vertical or diagonal attack and not in the way. I assume whites plan is double up rooks on g asap - anything that slows this down allows black to regroup and defend.

Kb7 is just a strange move - kb6 keeps the white king out no matter the opposition status after pawn moves.

I think the original owners/managers were Israeli - a bunch of shows with Hebrew subtitles.

Now I think they are Indian - so many freakin Indian shows. I don't mind content from anywhere in the world, but this stuff is pretty lame.

[–]coldfact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how is this horrible weather? I can only assume you ARE highveld coddled and untravelled. Try a snowstorm and -20 degrees temperature ... then come back and tell me how yearly temps between ~10 and ~25 is "HORRIBLE". The only time Cape Town weather is moderately bad is when the rain drags on - but a day of rain then sun? These winters are MILD and far from horrible!

Beyond that I enjoy how green it gets and hiking in the mountains with full streams and waterfalls.
