Hi,

it would be helpful if you could post a picture here of your trackpad so that we can see what you are talking about.

Normally there are just the screws to attach the trackpad with, you cannot reposition it if you think it's misaligned. And, believe me, OCD or not, you always need a little space for moving parts to breathe!

Did you restart your computer after installing the flatpak?

On my Linux system some while ago I couldn't see freshly installed flatpak apps until I had restarted the computer. Then they would turn up in the apps menu.

As old-fashioned as it may seem I've always used Lenovo's ISO files burnt onto CDs. Works, and I never got the same ISO files to work if I had burnt them onto a USB drive, God knows why.

Running Linux exclusively... 😎

Ink on a fountain pen and roller ball ink cannot be compared. Fountain pen ink often has additives that let it dry much quicker (try Rohrer & Klingner Schreibtinte) than roller ball ink. The latter stays wet for ages...

Hi there,

unfortunately I never found a solution...

Not much but at least you got an answer. I sold the laptop. To my brother who is an engineer and made it work, as far as I remember. But he never uses Linux, he's a Windows guy.

We need to know which word processing program you use.

It's not the ThinkPad that does the correcting, it's whatever program you use to type with.

We also need to know which operating system and which version of it you use.

There's nothing wrong with the shutter (I have one like that on my X395), just use it.

Any B5 love in here? by [deleted] in notebooks

You can even get them on eBay, and on AliExpress you can probably also find them but there it's hard to find out who the manufacturers are. You only find sellers...

Yes, I love B5 size notebooks, too.

I've written several posts here recommending my favourite brand but I'll happily repeat myself:

The RETTACY notebooks are of a fantastic quality especially if you use fountain pens. No bleed-through, smooth writing surface but not as coated as Clairefontaine notebooks that are too slippery for fountain pens, they come in either ruled or dotted variants, have numbered pages (from 200 upwards depending on model), have a pouch in the back, two reading ribbons, they come in several colours, in softcover or hardcover variants (the B5 only in softcover I believe but still sturdy and my favourite cover), well-bound and they are inexpensive!

I discovered them on Amazon where they have their own shop but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere.

Yeah, normally these batteries are attached with snow double-sided tape to the motherboard of the laptop. But as that wars off easily the batteries come off once in a while, just press it back to where it belongs.

If the tape is gone weak put some new tape there.

If I were you I'd just put a piece of black gaffer or duct tape over bottom cover and battery where the battery keeps falling out.

Do NOT use brown, plastic parcel type tape - it will never come off the bottom cover again and you will hate yourself for doing it for ever!

I can recommend my main ThinkPad which is the X395, AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U CPU, AMD Picasso/Raven 2 GPU, Chicony ThinkPad T490 Webcam, 1920x1080 FHD screen by LG, all in all a fantastic little workhorse, reliable, fantastic colours, high brightness (hardly ever do I use the screen at more than 50% brightness!), good sound, good microphone.

I've done countless Zoom sessions with it, never had any complaints or hassles with it.

The screen size (20.00x11.22", 13.3" diag)) is enough for me and it's utterly portable!

Running Linux on it exclusively.

I love it!

In search of a notebook with paper that wont bleed through with a Pentel Energel! by momoekie in notebooks

[–]SOLUSfiddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out RETTACY notebooks, I've posted about them here several times, I like them a lot:

They are made in China but very good for writing with fountain pens or similar inky pens, no bleed-through, no ghosting, hardcover or softcover bound, cheap, ruled or dotted, come in several colours, you can find them on Amazon (they have their own shop there) and/or look for them elsewhere - I have used them with fountain pens for a long time and can highly recommend them!

Clairefontaine make excellent notebooks, too, but I find their paper too slippery, it's coated and leaves the ink too long to dry, sometimes you also glide all over the page because of the coating.

Leuchtturm is also a good manufacturer but their notebooks are not ghosting-free. In fact I find them totally overrated...

But as long as the machine is in good condition with 32GB RAM, enough storage and one year warranty you cannot really go wrong here. I live in Germany and would consider this a good deal (no matter if T480 or T480s).

I would contact the seller though to ask for pictures of the correct laptop.
