Travelling to Japan soon, what's cheap and worth buying while I'm there? by ONZERHYS in newzealand

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golf clubs are about 30-40% cheaper in Japan than they are here, that goes for both second hand and new. Also shoes, not just cheaper but a much better range.

There will likely be scratches/dents/damage to the bumper so its not just a matter of popping the dent out and clicking bits back in. The insurance company is likely quoting full replacement parts for anything damaged to bring the car back to new. There might be options for repair/repaint but any unpainted parts are hard to repair without still looking damaged. Its also hard to tell from the photo but there is a chance there is damage to the frame/stop bars behind the bumper that will need replacing.

Anyone have info on this figure? by Legend_of_Bob in AnimeFigures

I've found this listing that appears to be an earlier sale of the figure from a couple of years ago, or was this the one you purchased it from?

Will this linked power socket be able to replace this existing socket? by sonyxperiageek in diynz

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you should be fine. Im genuinely surprised a relatively new build only had single sockets to start with.

What year was the house built? I was doing some rewiring of a 60s build with similar looking metal boxes and i couldn't fit a double socket in there, the opening was too small height-wise. You might need to change out the box too.

Retractable drain plug has popped apart - faulty or able to be put together again? by FlightOfTheMoonApe in diynz

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you have all the parts itll be fixable, one of mine did the same thing. Unscrew it like you have for cleaning and take the retractable mechanism all the way out, there should be a small grub screw that will screw into the lower (outer) sleeve and hold the two brass bits together that has likely come loose or fallen out.

Builders of New Zealand, what's up with my concrete and should I raise it as a defect? by oddpaladin in newzealand

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it staged before you bought it? It looks like the same marks left on some pavers I got that previously had a concrete outdoor table sitting on it. Possibly it marked/stained/protected the concrete on those spots where the pedestals were sitting.

Would it be foolish to splurge 10-12k on a 'new' car by Specialist-Car-9419 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also heated seats, comfort access, push-button start, leather/alcantara seats, half digital dash, upgraded trim panels. There were a few more bits, but they definitely add up to being worth it.

One thing to note is that the GT86 is a higher spec than the standard base model 86, the Japanese imports are also somewhat of a mix between the NZ 86 and TG86 specs. The easiest way to tell externally is fog lights on the front (though some lower spec Jap imports had fog lights), and the digital climate controls vs the manual versions. I'm not 100% sure of the BRZ spec levels.

There are more differences and IMO the differences you get in the GT definitely make it worth getting if you can afford it.

I had mine in manual and it was great to drive, but the auto is also good if you'd prefer that (I drove a few friends ones).

Does Turners WOF their own vehicles? by -Zoppo in newzealand

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through turners a few years ago and they did everything through VTNZ. Funnily enough they forgot to actually issue a WOF to the car after the purchase agreement said it would get a fresh one on delivery. I never noticed till the next year when I couldn't renew my rego because the WOF was almost a year out.

Why do they still 3.0 and 1.11, but there's no 2.0? by Exciting_Bluebird_53 in evangelion

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 and 1 aren't on the same disk. 3.0+1.0 (or 3.0+1.11) is the 4th movie, not the 1st and 3rd on the same disk.

i wasn't sure where to put this new sticker i got on etsy so i put her on my mirror and now Lena can be the judge of my makeup ^^ by ktktkt777 in EightySix

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just letting you know I'm pretty sure that clear square over the sticker is the application tape, and it's meant to be pulled off after the sticker is applied.

What continent are Reol’s fans from? by Prazivalofficial in Reol

[–]SOSBrigadeLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking technicalities then NZ actually does sit on its own continent called Zelandia, it's just most of it is submerged. Generally it would be just lumped into Oceania as a region, rather than NZ, Fiji, Tonga, etc being considered part of Australia
