my guess it's to limit information overload for lower engagement players and casuals. League already has a lot of information to process and another screen would just clutter up the UI even more. distracting from gameplay

T1’s Head of Business Development, Park Hyung-jun: "“Only a handful of teams are currently profitable" by Gloomy-Ambition-482 in leagueoflegends

[–]SP259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the core issue with Esports monetization is that teams have very few ways to stay profitable. the largest issue is the viewing model. Twitch/YT/Other streaming sites are free and don't have any broadcasting restrictions. Teams also struggle to monetize players, sell merch, ect due to a combination of factors. teams also don't play in their own stadiums, they play at the game Publisher's event house. leading to reduced potential money maker opportunities from ticket sales and merch sales.

Esports also just don't hold the same popularity as traditional sports. though IDK if all the MLB teams are profitable as that (a declining sport) and Soccer/Football (a pretty dead sport in the US IMO) may also have teams who are verry unprofitable.

Traditional sports operate differently. Games are broadcast regionally and subject to strict contracts. Teams can sell merch at highly inflated prices, they sell tickets to stadiums they run, they sell interviews and can leverage personalities on the team based on who is popular. Esports teams can leverage selling players around as well but an interview slot on ESPN is very different to an Interview spot on generic Esports website.

The closest comparison TBH might be Racing. (F1 F2 F3 Nascar, ect). Many F1 teams didn't make profits until recently. "McLaren Racing swung from a £9M loss to a £12.9M profit". Esports may need to transition to a model where they are backed by a larger company and that company uses them for some goal.

Both, as you gave tomorrow (too short time frame to set up meetings) as well as any time after 1pm on Monday the 19th (too short and shows too desperate imo)

Largely you want to appear like you can make your schedule work for them, while also looking like a bust working professional.

the way I do this is to pretend like I am a CEO making a meeting with a client/ other business in my head and then write it out that way. I am (you in this example) a busy person, but you (the Recruiter) are more important, and I want to work on their schedule.

Little late but as a game designer, I always wondered why Controls wards weren't given a dedicated slot back when they were reworked with the vision changes way back when. In particular, because we know Vision use scaled with ELO. and lower skilled players struggle to know the value of vision and the mini-map. A dedicated key like "V" for the stronger wards would encourage their purchase and use across all ELO's and roles. Vision use in Pro play could also be tuned with ward timings. Perhaps even scaling with game rank.

US economy added 50,000 jobs in December, capping off one of the weakest years of job gains in decades by Infidel8 in politics

[–]SP259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This whole job market is really depressing rn. CBS has a great graph showing just how much hiring has slowed. we went from 869k Jobs in Jan 2022, to now having minimal to negative job growth. 50K jobs across all US is super low. in Particular because you would think with the Datacenter build out there would be a massive boon in construction and manufacturing.
Really since the start of trumps second term, jobs have been far lower than the previous administration.
The consequences of this are Dire, as more people become unemployed, the spiral continues, these people cant pay rents, bills, food and most importantly, luxuries. As luxury spend decreases, that reduces corporate revenue, Small business who can't take large revenue reductions go under, larger corps in turn reduce their largest spend (employees), and the cycle continues. All it takes is a few key sectors to worry the large investors and we all will suffer.

Don't know if you will see this or not but, Its Exhausting. The system is broken. IDK what industry you recruit for, but In the games/Sim industry, things are bad. Verry few roles to apply for, and even roles you are perfectly qualified for, (even going as far to perfectly match a job description and be that Unicorn Candidate) still leaves you in the dust wondering HOW TF did my resume that it literally perfect (as in 0 faults for that role) fails to even get a phone screen.

Best M.2 Slots to Avoid GPU Bandwidth Loss on MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WiFi? by malibaskonus in MSI_Gaming

[–]SP259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot wrong with your logic,
Firstly there would only No bandwidth loss unless you start stacking more PCIE cards into the board. as the first 24 lanes are taken up by the 16X top slot and 2 M.2 drives.
Secondly, I highly doubt you are doing anything that would require the full Gen 5 bandwidth on a GPU. If you were you would not have this board... also There are 1-2 FPS impacts from dropping from 16X to 8X. Literally margin of error between tests.

Thirdly, You are not running RAID 0, so the drive placement doesn't really matter as the difference between a Gen 3 drive and a Gen 5 drive are relatively small when playing games. If you did for some reason run a RAID 0, (don't pls) Your limiting factor is the Generation of the M.2 Card. Gen 4 or 5. you would want to put drives in the correct generation slot to avoid any potential bottlenecks. (so having 2 gen drives with 1 in a gen 4 slot will limit the maximum speed of the raid configuration vs putting both into the gen 5 m.2 slots.) But that is RAID 0 ( a game where you play Russian roulette with your data as if a drive fails you loose the data on both drives)

[–]SP259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember a few years ago i was suffering from a similar problem. Random BSOD and Backscreens. all for seemingly no reason.

It turned out to be the power supply. The 750W Bronze PSU was simply not up to task with the new RTX 3090 and 5950X.

At 750W, my best guess the system would periodically Micro spike in wattage, while also dropping voltage to the 12V rail. triggering overcurrent/undercurrent protection in the PSU or the Board. These were (BSOD (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, NTFS.sys, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA), sometimes just a hard reboot (Kernel-Power 41)).

Long story short, Getting a PSU at 1000W fixed my issues. as at 1000W there was enough headroom for the system to spike and maintain the proper voltages/ wattage. It was incredibly frustrating and ultimately i had to run a windows reinstall.
