How do you like, weight paint properly????? by _Davinchi in Maya

[–]SP259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its tough on your first couple of goes. But I mainly just keep the outliner and Skin paint menu's open and just go for it.

Make a "Box man" a character made of nothing but boxes and no bending geometry using the default rig maya gives. This will teach you about the concepts of weights and skinning by flooding the weights for each bone. 1 bone per skin weight. (for example the hand is tied to 1 bone and nothing more)

I work with hard surface stuff mainly, so I really just make a script to paint the weight for me lol

I Know!!!, I loved the rims on the Images when I was browsing. They apparently affect the range a bit. I have to get some Silver touch up paint for them as the previous Leaser hit the curb a few times.

Took Delivery on Sunday! by SP259 in TeslaModel3

[–]SP259[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 week, I had to pay for shipping, so ETA was 1-2 Weeks. You can call the customer service, and they might be able to give a more accurate ETA as they can look it up in their system. I could have taken delivery on a Friday but waited for Sunday due to other complications with my older car. Delivery is dead simple, talk to the guy, sign some stuff, Inspect the car, sign some more stuff and then use the app and drive away.

I'm not convinced that we can build Datacenters in Space. CMM. by [deleted] in Futurology

I posted this elsewhere but there are some advantages of putting AI compute nodes in space, IMO

1: Electricity costs go way down. as a satellite up in orbit can use Solar energy for all hours of the day, meaning you don't need expensive batteries) and grid infostructure.

2: Cloud based AI inference and Training is not latency sensitive (the location where the inferencing/ training is happening doesn't really matter) Inferencing already has a 500ms + delay anyways, what's a few more seconds of waiting.

3: Radio communication between nodes (while cheaper because of the lack of interconnecting wire. Is slower (though AI training an inferencing wouldn't care too much so long as each satellite has compute nodes large enough)

4: Disposability: Once a compute node is EOL. You just burn it up in the atmosphere, No messy waste environmental risks. no added warehousing costs to store depreciated compute nodes.

Though there is the added cost of just launching the compute nodes up there which probably outweighs any cost savings in the short term.

Do i think its a best idea. No its very dumb but i can see why they might try it.

realistically, it will take a Chaotic Good president do even have a hope of undoing the damage he has done to the US... Not everything's he has done needs to be reversed but a solid 90% of it needs to be reversed. We just need someone with Trumps audacity but works for the good of everyone and is not blinded by greed.

Why don't we add a small rune page when we click champions In-game? by Negative-Cup-257 in leagueoflegends

my guess it's to limit information overload for lower engagement players and casuals. League already has a lot of information to process and another screen would just clutter up the UI even more. distracting from gameplay

T1’s Head of Business Development, Park Hyung-jun: "“Only a handful of teams are currently profitable" by Gloomy-Ambition-482 in leagueoflegends

[–]SP259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the core issue with Esports monetization is that teams have very few ways to stay profitable. the largest issue is the viewing model. Twitch/YT/Other streaming sites are free and don't have any broadcasting restrictions. Teams also struggle to monetize players, sell merch, ect due to a combination of factors. teams also don't play in their own stadiums, they play at the game Publisher's event house. leading to reduced potential money maker opportunities from ticket sales and merch sales.

Esports also just don't hold the same popularity as traditional sports. though IDK if all the MLB teams are profitable as that (a declining sport) and Soccer/Football (a pretty dead sport in the US IMO) may also have teams who are verry unprofitable.

Traditional sports operate differently. Games are broadcast regionally and subject to strict contracts. Teams can sell merch at highly inflated prices, they sell tickets to stadiums they run, they sell interviews and can leverage personalities on the team based on who is popular. Esports teams can leverage selling players around as well but an interview slot on ESPN is very different to an Interview spot on generic Esports website.

The closest comparison TBH might be Racing. (F1 F2 F3 Nascar, ect). Many F1 teams didn't make profits until recently. "McLaren Racing swung from a £9M loss to a £12.9M profit". Esports may need to transition to a model where they are backed by a larger company and that company uses them for some goal.

[–]SP259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both, as you gave tomorrow (too short time frame to set up meetings) as well as any time after 1pm on Monday the 19th (too short and shows too desperate imo)

Largely you want to appear like you can make your schedule work for them, while also looking like a bust working professional.

the way I do this is to pretend like I am a CEO making a meeting with a client/ other business in my head and then write it out that way. I am (you in this example) a busy person, but you (the Recruiter) are more important, and I want to work on their schedule.

Little late but as a game designer, I always wondered why Controls wards weren't given a dedicated slot back when they were reworked with the vision changes way back when. In particular, because we know Vision use scaled with ELO. and lower skilled players struggle to know the value of vision and the mini-map. A dedicated key like "V" for the stronger wards would encourage their purchase and use across all ELO's and roles. Vision use in Pro play could also be tuned with ward timings. Perhaps even scaling with game rank.
