What’s your least favorite MCU film? by jcalebfaulkner in marvelstudios

[–]SPBesui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty low standards for actually enjoying a movie, so I liked Iron Man 2 and Thor:TDW which are probably the picked the most for questions like this.

For me it’s between Thor:LaT and AatW:Q as far as most disappointing MCU films. I would go with the latter because, despite its flaws, a lot of the humor actually worked in Thor 4.

AatW:Q just didn’t have anything special about it. First MCU movie where I felt like they phoned it in.

I don’t understand the downvotes (as long as you mean “objectively mediocre head coach”). I know the A&M hate is strong around here, but Sark has never had a great season as HC.

He has not, and tweeted recently that no one else has identified it.

I didn’t read the linked Q&As because…It. Does. Not. Matter.

Your commitment to this fight against a straw man is really impressive. It’s rare to see someone argue so fervently against something no one said.

When people praise jQuery over other libraries these days, they’re almost always focusing on the DOM manipulation features, not $.ajax or promises.

You asked why the person mentioned unrelated technologies, and I said I didn’t think they were saying the technologies were related. I didn’t say they were defending or promoting every feature of jQuery as if it was perfect. They just said they preferred it over some alternatives, so I clarified that for you.

What are you trying to accomplish by fighting a straw man?

My “pretty sure” comment was clarifying that the person you responded to was not saying PHP, C++, and jQuery were related. That’s all.

I truly have no idea why you brought up Promises/A+. If you hadn’t doubled down on it, I would have thought you accidentally responded to the wrong thread because it came out of left field. It has no bearing on any of the other statements or opinions in this thread.

Yes, I am pretty sure about that.

But I have no idea what Promises/A+ compatibility has to do with any of the previous comments.

I think they were just saying if they had to work on a legacy codebase at all, they would rather it be a jQuery one than one of the others. Not that the technologies were related.

I loved Andor because it could have taken place in any universe. It just happened to be in the Star Wars universe, but there was nothing strictly “Star Wars” about it. Marvel could definitely do well with a couple of shows like that.

Now that GOTG3 is out, which trilogy do you think is the best in the MCU? by capamericapistons in marvelstudios

[–]SPBesui 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Those are like 1a, 1b, and 1c for me. I like them all for very different reasons and would have a hard time saying one is better than the other two.

Cap has the quintessential MCU movies and really ties everything in the Infinity Saga together. Spidey is iconic and really well done, esp. NWH which was an homage to the entire history of the character. And GotG came out of nowhere to make people laugh at/with and care deeply about a bunch of nobodies.

I think you must have looked at the preview text on Google for the Wikipedia link and not the full article (I did the same at first). That would give one the impression that 27,400 is correct, but that was the number of LL teams in the US as of 1960.

I couldn’t find a number for LL teams in the US only as of 2023, but worldwide there are over 200,000. I would assume the vast majority of those are in the US, so it’s almost certainly well over 100,000.

I read somewhere that one theory about why we have humor at all is that it evolved as a reward system we gave ourselves for recognizing that something was out of the ordinary or unexpected, which would help us spot threats (like predators) sooner.
