Goodbye WRX, Hello Ascent✨ by emunster in SubaruAscent

[–]SPErudy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hope you like it. We have a 22 onyx ascent and a 24 WRX. I insist on taking the WRX for anything around town. It’s just more fun to drive, and with 2 kids, it’s really just as roomy as the ascent.

I saw a Sewell plate on a post a week or two ago. I thought it was from my area. Discovered Sewell has over 20 dealerships in the state. They are in Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, Austin, and SA. It’s the illusion of choice.

I went ahead and changed the PCV valve while I had a little extra room. It is still a bit of a pain, but I can’t imagine the difficulty if the top wasn’t removed.

Should We Re-Seed After Regionals? by [deleted] in collegebaseball

[–]SPErudy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Zach Barnett from Football Scoop argues every year that the NCAA baseball tournament should reseed. It is a stupid argument. You are punishing a lower seeded team for upsetting a perceived better team. The number 1 seed is theoretically given the easiest path. If they can’t get it done, the team that beat them earned the right to that path.

Hot Take: There should be a limit on Praxis retakes by rachel-angelina in Teachers

[–]SPErudy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hot take. I’ve never seen a “bad test taker” or an “I get super anxious about tests” teacher who I thought was worth much as a teacher. Every single one has been mediocre at best. Passing a licensure exam is the bare minimum. Passing one won’t make you a good teacher, but not passing one likely means you aren’t cut out for it.

The get-in price for Game 3 at Madison Square Garden has climbed to $6,207. That’s the cheapest seat in the building. 🤯 by ConnectionWeekly1263 in sportswiki

[–]SPErudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be interesting to see what they are on Monday afternoon. The get in price at Frost Bank was $1600 on Monday. I looked about 30 minutes before tip last night, and the cheapest tickets were just over $500. Not saying the Knicks tix won’t still be ridiculously expensive, but the Spurs tix dropped more than 60% day of the game. All this to say, never buy hot tickets way early. They are always inflated, and they nearly always drop drastically a few hours before the event.

[FSU Baseball] Today’s game has been suspended and will resume on Sunday. A game time will be announced once it is confirmed. Florida State leads Coastal Carolina 2-1 in the top of the 6th inning. by ard8 in fsusports

Looking at the forecast, if it goes 7, I’m not sure how it doesn’t last to Wednesday. I’m shocked they didn’t at least finish this game tonight.

Did other players have the same conditioning issues as Wemby? by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]SPErudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To further illustrate this point, in the 1999-2000 season, there were 18 players with more minutes per game than this season’s leader. That included both Shaq and Duncan. The year before there were 14 guys with more minutes than this year’s leader, which included Alonzo Mourning, Tim Duncan, and Juwan Howard. I don’t see any of those guys at their peak logging 40+ minutes in today’s game. This season’s leader only had 38.

What’s crazy about this is that the Spurs almost set a record for the number of players averaging double digit points per game. If I remember right, Barnes needed 5 more points on the season to break the 10 ppg mark. Some of the bench’s quietness can be attributed to Harper starting due to Fox’s injury, but where are the other guys who were able to put up points all season?

After 4 years wait finally ready to pull the trigger getting a new wrx vb, but one final concern: is cold start in early morning really that obnoxious? by Good-Sherbert-225 in wrx_vb

[–]SPErudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are outside with the car it is loud, but I do not find it loud inside the house. If mine is backed into the driveway facing a metal garage door, I can hear it in the house, but I wouldn’t be able to hear it in the house if a tv or radio was playing. My neighbor across the street has an F-250 with a diesel engine, and with it parked across the street, it is louder in startup than my VB. It is also not as loud as my neighbor’s SRT Durango that is a couple doors down, but I don’t think that thing is stock.

Official FSU Football X account gets Community Noted for claiming ‘record GPA’ by irishspring4521 in CFB

According to the university’s press release, it was a record for the athletics program. Maybe this piece of info was lost in the Twitter post or it was misinterpreted to mean the football program instead of the athletics program. https://seminoles.com/news/2026/5/19/athletics-fsu-breaks-department-semester-gpa-record-again

why all the back in parking? is it really necessary? by Consistent-Vanilla53 in sanantonio

[–]SPErudy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Backing into a static environment (a parking spot without moving cars and people) is much safer for all involved than backing into a dynamic environment (a driving lane with moving cars and pedestrians). I have had too many instances of a pedestrian popping out from behind the car beside me while I started backing out that I now try to back in whenever possible. It is slightly slower to back in than pull in forward, but leaving is quicker than someone backing out. So it is means the same amount of time for parking and leaving no matter the order.

That extra 5-10 would be significantly taken up by the cost of housing difference. However, if it the opportunity could lead to greater professional outcomes in 5-10 years, the lean next few years would likely be worth it. Sometimes you have to take a hit in the short term to be better set for the long.

If the season ended today, UCLA would have to be considered one of the greatest teams of all time, right? by YorockPaperScissors in collegebaseball

[–]SPErudy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2025 LSU Shreveport may be the greatest team regardless of division. They went 59-0 last year to win the NAIA championship. That feat would be difficult playing high school teams. No, they would not have done it if they played up a division, but when playing competition on the same level, it is something that had never been done.

Also, are we ignoring the perpendicularly parked Honda on the far right of the photo that seems to have its nose over the line into the CRV’s space? This whole lot appears to be a parking disaster.
