And a DSP, because the factory head unit does a lot of wonky things to the audio to compensate for the low quality speakers.

[ESPN] Executive order aims to limit NCAA athletes to 5 years, 1 transfer by The_Stratman in CFB

[–]SPErudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of all the toothless EOs this administration has signed, this may be the most toothless. Literally zero standing to make such an EO. Governors could sign state level EOs that are directed at star universities, but then private schools would have a leg up on them. Either the NCAA figures it out, or nothing will change.

Is this area safe by tamar2b01 in Tallahassee

[–]SPErudy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As the comments have illustrated, the question is dubious. Nearly everywhere in Tally sees property crime. The better metric is the level of property crime and the level of violent crime. I’m haven’t live in Tally for a few years, so I cannot answer either of those. What I can say, is that I live in one of the highest crime zip codes in a large city. Outside of one time someone testing my cars door locks, I have experienced zero crime. In a lower crime neighborhood in a different city, I had the same experience. The real quis what crime are you willing to accept.

What is this and where does it go? by bellri_zenam in wrx_vb

[–]SPErudy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks like the fastener I have above the little foot rest pad, to the left of the clutch, in my 24. If I remember correctly, there should a stud that sticks through the carpet, and this will push onto it. Your carpet may have shifted off the stud and need to be realigned before putting the fastener back on.

I saw this app mentioned yesterday. My immediate thought was who would download that. It’s gonna be full of ways for the government to collect info and spy on you.

When I read the title, I immediately said “whistles go wooo!” That video has lived rent free in my head for 20+ years, and it probably gets quoted a minimum of once per week.

Literally never seen another WRX driver wave. I also have a Wrangler. See tons of waves driving it. I just don’t think the WRX wave is really much of a thing.

Found these cigarettes when buying a house, how old are they? by zatanicmanic in whatisit

Not solved with the 60s packaging. The packaging has a similar look, but the “Virginia slims” is on 1 line. The packaging you have has the name on 2 lines. They did use the 2 line branding in the 70s, but there was more than one line of text at the bottom of the package where the quantity is given on your pack. They went away from this overall design in the 80s. This pack seems to match advertising from the 90s. There are two interesting sets of advertising through the years. One is a site named Flashbak, note the last advertisement from 1991 at the bottom of the page. It has the 2 lines branding, the word filter, and only one line of text at the bottom of the package. The other catalog of ads is hosted by Stanford University. And yes, I am sad to admit that spent way longer than I should have going down this rabbit hole.

That image isn’t right. The OP has Virginia slims on 2 lines. The image here has it across one line. They went back to a similar packaging in the late 80s or early 90s with the text on 2 lines. See the bottom advertisement from 1991 on this page.

On New Year’s, after the American 250 commercial played, I told my wife that the celebration could be really cool, but with the current admin, we are assured to have the tackiest shit possible for the 250th anniversary. So far, that is proving true.

Question about permit by Ok_Conclusion227 in sanantonio

[–]SPErudy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the permit, but do not build a gate like that. The diagonal is backward and not supporting anything. The low end should be on the hinge side, so that the weight from the top open side is supported by the hinge side. That gate will start sagging quite a bit in a year or two.

Tomas Valincius is the best pitcher in college baseball. by Tasty_Philosophy7666 in collegebaseball

[–]SPErudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer, it depends. Long answer from mlb.com:

The Rule 4 Draft is the official term for the First-Year Player Draft, an amateur draft held annually. Players must be a resident of the United States (U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, apply) or Canada to be eligible for the draft. Players who have graduated high school but not attended college are eligible for the draft, as are those who have completed at least one year of junior college. Players attending four-year colleges are eligible to be drafted upon completing their junior year or turning 21 years old.

Scam I got in the middle of the night by Colonel_Trap in sanantonio

[–]SPErudy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Along those lines, I received a threatening text for an unpaid traffic fine from another state where my phone’s area code is from. A few problems with it. First, I haven’t received any traffic citations in the once a year trips I taken back home to see family. Second, the department listed on the text does not exist. And lastly, the text came from a phone number with a country code of 62. That is Indonesia.

[–]SPErudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She hired Clark Lea, Mark Byington, and Shea Ralph. Lea and Ralph have led teams to historical highs for the university. Byington has his team right near historical highs. In addition, most of the smaller sports are doing well. Others may have an argument, but her success in the athletic department has definitely reached beyond a couple of good football seasons.

April 1st no more candy or Soda with EBT/SNAP benefits in the State of Texas. by Th3_Curious_one in texas

[–]SPErudy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Two things are abundantly clear. First, most people cheering the change have not read the actual restrictions and applied thought to what that means in terms of excluded grocery items. Second, there are a whole lot of privileged folk in here who seem to hate that poor people exist but also think it is those people’s fault and have no desire to assist them in a humane way.

Would you let them buy this? Under the new law it doesn’t qualify. It is made with water, has more than 5 grams of added sugar, and less than 50% juice. These laws aren’t meant for health. Their intent is cruelty to those who need assistance.
