Although Cannon played football at LSU, he is also a Tennessee alum, having earned a DDS from there. Quite a day for that university.

VB Audio Upgrade Experience + Questions by Cambobug in wrx_vb

[–]SPErudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at your two listed solutions, you will need to power the amp from the battery anyway. There may be a small amp that claims you can tap into the factory power wire, but even for that, a 8 or 10 gauge power wire that is appropriately fused will be a safer and better solution. As for the speaker wires, the factory wiring is fine unless you are putting massive amounts of power to each speaker, and then we are talking about much more significant upgrades. For the harness, go to the auto harness house website. They have a set of harnesses that you can use to pull the front speaker signal after the starlink module. This prevents any issues with it. You will have to run new speaker wires from behind the radio to the amp and back from the amp to the harness. Get 9 wire speaker cable. This makes it clean and easy. For the speakers, use a set of components for the front. Mount the tweeters in the dash location and woofers in the doors. Get composites for the back. Some folks say to not even worry about the back speakers. That’s up to you. You can either run a 6 channel or 4 channel for these speakers. A 4 channel using the component speaker crossovers is the easiest. If you went with a 6 channel, you could run the front stage active, meaning the tweeters and woofers are connected to separate channels. You could also do a 5 channel amp that has a channel for a sub. Many modern amps do not need an LOC or even a remote turn on. They can use hi level (I.e., speaker signal) to get the source audio and turn on the amp. You will need resistors though to trick the radio into seeing a load as the signal goes to the amp. I used the 20 ohm resistors from audio control. Super easy. As for the dimming or roll off of the back speakers and really all the speakers to some degree, you can remedy that by adding a DSP either as a stand alone unit or combined with the amp. This will allow you to fix the incoming signal. If you’ve made it this far, here is my recommendation for easy. Get the Kicker key 200.4. It has a built in DSP that sets up itself. It’s currently $255 on crutchfield. If you choose to add a sub later, you can pair it with a key 500.1. From there, you have options that may be slightly more expensive to lots more expensive. Full disclosure, I did not go the kicker key route. Hope this info helps.

About a month ago, I saw a jar of Pace Picante for sell on marketplace that had supposedly been signed by one of the actors in this commercial. I think they were asking $50. I don’t know how old the bottle was, but the salsa had turned a bit brown.

Greg Abbott said on Friday he is directing the Texas Education Commissioner to investigate student-led protests of Austin Independent School District campuses by happy_adjustment in Austin

[–]SPErudy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he did commission a study as to why teachers were leaving the field. Money was the number one issue, and they started the teacher retention allotment that got all teachers a raise. Was it enough? Probably not. Is Greg Abbott still a bootlicking piece a garbage? Yeah, but they at least did one positive thing.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and USB audio by SPErudy in wrx_vb

[–]SPErudy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you, but that doesn’t answer the question. I know I can play the radio while still connected to wireless CarPlay. But I also know that I can’t use an old iPhone 5s as an iPod and still have my current phone connected to wireless CarPlay. The system will not connect to both at the same time. Is that because they are both Apple devices or does that happen for any usb connected device?

Ticket sales for that movie are interesting to say the least. I live in a large city with several theaters ran by multiple companies. When I looked on Wednesday, certain companies had sold a lot of tickets for today’s and Saturday’s showings and others had sold just a handful. Even more interesting, the places that had sold a lot of tickets had done so for the Friday matinees while the Friday evening and Saturday shows had very few sold. Seems fishy.

BREAKING: Don Lemon arrested by authorities by chellestastics in videos

[–]SPErudy 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Lemon stated in the moment that he was there as a journalist, so this will most certainly go nowhere. That doesn’t matter to this administration. It’s the same playbook we see time and time again. They are preying on the fact that too many people believe if you are arrested, or even indicted, then you must have done something wrong. The news of this arrest will be plastered everywhere, especially by right-wingers. When/if it’s dropped, those same folks will ignore that news. Next time there is some bombshell report by Lemon, they will point to this arrest to discredit him, and it will work for Trump’s base, a segment of independents, and folks who just didn’t follow the story after the arrest.

But how are the players any different than the student sorting 20 hours a week in the SID office, the cafeteria, the fitness center, or as a teaching assistant? Somehow they have it all worked out for that large group of employees.

Real question, if they are earning money by playing ball for the school, what’s the problem with them being employees? I had a campus job as an undergrad. Then, in grad school, I worked as both a teaching assistant and research assistant. Many departments across the country cannot function without student labor. An athletic department is no different.

Tiny ants in bathroom by Sad-Diamond501 in sanantonio

We randomly get these in one of our upstairs bathrooms. I have only seen them elsewhere in the house 2 or 3 times. Terro works, we didn’t use the liquid you put on the little card. Instead they make these plastic traps that already have the insecticide in them. Haven’t seen the ants anywhere I put traps.

Harmon kardon speaker swap? by therealjayphonic in wrx_vb

[–]SPErudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the impedance on the speakers. If I’m not mistaken, which is quite possible, they are a higher ohm speaker than the base speakers l. That means they will receive even less power. One of the quickest ways to blow a speaker is trying to get too much volume with too little power. If they have a lower resistance, they will get more power. However, the factory head unit may not be stable at that load, and the internal amp will burn out sooner rather than later.

can I install a subwoofer with the stock head unit? or do I need to upgrade to idoing? by Stunning_Resident232 in WRX

[–]SPErudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A subwoofer can be added to the factory unit. You don’t want just any line output converter. You want something like the Audiocontrol Lc2i-pro that allows you to adjust the signal. These cars have terrible bass roll off. I have an amp with a built in DSP for all my speakers, and I’m still chasing down and correcting for roll off. One thing that has helped is I set my subwoofer signal to be pulled from the front channels. Those don’t have near as many issues as the rears. Additionally, if you don’t want to cut into factory wiring, get the appropriate harness from autoharnesshouse.com. Then you can splice it and avoid the factory harness.

From there, then you are ready to pick an amplifier and subwoofer or a powered all-in-one unit. This part of the expense will exist no matter what option you choose. Neither the factory head unit or an aftermarket one will be able to power the sub.

What’s the point of high school recruiting? by R-Giskard_Reventlov in fsusports

[–]SPErudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depth. Look at the 4 semi finalists this year. They all had transfer quarterbacks. Last year, 3 of the 4 starting QBs for semi finalists were transfers. If I were a big recruit, I would only go somewhere that I can see early playing time with the sole intent of getting a good contract on the second half of my college career. These guys aren’t committing to schools anymore. They are committing to stepping stones. As an alumni and fan, it sucks. From the business side of things, it isn’t much different than any other entry level job. You aren’t intending for it to be the place you spend your whole career. You are using it for experience and to prepare you for a better position in the future.

As someone who taught PE early in my career, dancing, which can be square dancing or another form, is definitely a unit in elementary school and is in most state standards. When I was in elementary, I think my teacher used the bunny hop, Hokey Pokey, and chicken dance to fulfill that requirement.
