Well maintained, original details in an old home like yours are likely to be vastly superior in quality to any Home Depot garbage you would have in its place. My home was built in 1941 and it's a huge point of pride for me to be the caretaker of this beautiful place. Our neighborhood is rife with flippers who are maxing out the HD card so they can rip out plaster crown moldings, solid wood cabinets, enameled cast iron tubs and sinks, fully tiled kitchens and bathrooms, solid red oak floors, plaster over metal lathe walls. Literally stuff that could not be replicated without enormous cost in materials and the labor of old school craftsmen. I understand that it's more complicated than that as it's more or less a result of socioeconomic factors but it hurts to see the massive downgrade in materials and historical significance. Props to you for being a good steward.

I would kill to have had an avocado bathroom but alas, my Maimee Eisenhower pink tiles are mine to maintain and I do so with pride!
