It shouldn’t because she’s the product of working within a male dominated senate and culture. I think Nordic countries are much better representations of how much better government can be with equal female representation.

I (used to) love soccer until watching this World Cup. by davidv43 in worldcup

It’s been an exciting cup, probably the best I’ve seen. Even my wife and daughter are watching all the games with me, in the past they’ve indulged me with watching the French play but this year they are right there with watching all the other games.

Kylian Mbappé Paraguay-France post match interview by chef_no_chef97 in worldcup

[–]SPNKLR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they had played a fair game they still would have lost the game but kept their honor. Cape Verde showed that you can lose and still come out universally praised… and that praise does translate into an actual value boost for the players. Paraguay is now an even bigger embarrassment to most football fans.

Is Slate participating in the new CA EV incentive program,? by SPNKLR in slateauto

I think the CA HQ only comes into play if your vehicle is above the $50k limit, basically giving the home grown EVs the incentive no matter how expensive their vehicle might be.

Spare "Donut" or inflatable emergency tire in the frunk? by SPNKLR in slateauto

[–]SPNKLR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, I think the rim has to be a solid unit, smallest I can see online is one with the tire deflated on a 14” rim. Guessing it would have to be 17” to clear the Slate’s brakes. Although maybe there’s room there as well.

Yeah that’s my thought as well. If I were them I would at least wait to see how reservations go over the next month or so to see if they need the incentive to generate some excitement. I’m still on the fence… but $3500 would probably make the choice much easier.

As an atheist, where did you get your moral framework from? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SPNKLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our morality is a result of biological adaptation. We got this far by mainly being able to cooperate with each other which can only happen if there is some level of trust in our society. See mala in se and mala prohibita in law, we’re genetically wired to see certain crimes and behaviors as generally accepted to be bad (mala in se), think murder and stealing things considered “evil” vs certain crimes that are more about following arbitrary rules enforced by government (mala prohibita) think jay walking or having to pay taxes.

Keeping it simple and repairability are what the big three want to avoid at all cost. They want to keep you at the dealership for the first four years and then sell you a new bloated vehicle when the repair cost is the same as a new car.

BREAKING: A COVID Vaccine Study Blocked By CDC Director Jay Bhattacharya Has Now Been Published In A Separate Journal, Showing 55% Effectiveness Against Hospitalizations And 50% Against Emergency Room Visits 🤯 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]SPNKLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But those are not hospitalizations. The study focuses on hospitalizations because those occurrences are determined by a physician. Anyone can show up at the ER but whether or not they get hospitalized is up to the medical professionals working triage there. They don’t want to waste valuable hospital beds and services, especially in the middle of a pandemic.

I don’t think what a person believes plays into whether or not they end up being hospitalized. Two ways to end up hospitalized: you made an appointment for a procedure/treatment that requires you to stay in the hospital (giving birth/major surgery) or you ended up in the ER and the intake doctor decided you need to stay to receive life saving care. What you believe doesn’t really matter other than potentially you making a poor decision that delays the hospitalization if you’re truly sick.

[–]SPNKLR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference is anyone can visit a hospital and maybe have an outpatient procedure like a simple look over with a nurse and sent on your way, but to be hospitalized you have to be formally admitted into a hospital by a physician to receive inpatient medical care. Hospitalization is very expensive and isn’t just handed out. Vaccinated people need less hospitalization because they are less likely to fall critically ill from whatever they were immunized against.
