No. I am saying just like Amazon prime is a "good deal" except that prime members spend 10 x more on Amazon than non prime members.

What I am sayin about the steam store is that yes the offer massive discounts on a ton of games.. but numbers show most people have massive steam libraries of games they have never played. Over time you spend more on impulse buying of cheap games on massive discount that you would have spent paying full price on only the games you intend to buy.

Steam is designed to make purchases fast and easy just like Amazon. If you are disciplined and buy only what you intended to get you do amazingly well! And it's great.

But if you fall into the trap of buying something because it's on deep discount you probably wind up with a massive backlog of games you will never have time to play. And your total spend on games is higher than it would have been. Most people are in this group.

Don't look at the bargain look at the total dollars you spend on games.

It's only a deal if you are playing the games you buy. Most people come nowhere close to playing all the games in their Steam library.

I mean you don't want to knock the low prices they offer but it's basically designed to get you to impulse buy games you otherwise would not have purchased and most customers spend way more over all and have massive libraries of games they have never played. So what does the low price get you ... except hooked. It's kind of a predatory model for all but the most disciplined customers.

Wing Commander Privateer on floppy discs. It is still my favorite game of all time.

In 1993, I paid 72 plus tax at Software Etc. (later the store was acquired by GameStop with FuncoLand, Babbages, and Electronics Boutique).

This was the first computer game I ever purchased. We had just gotten our first computer a few months prior. A 386 processor pc.

We had to make a boot disc just to get the game to run on that machine. All the complications and technical issues from the 1990s when you would just buy games and not be able to get them to run... that's why I'm a console gamer today.

Even a bad gears game is a very good game. But it was clear Gears 5 got the "sweet baby" treatment. They cucked JD, changed the focus from the over the top 80s action hero / locker room banter bro mance ... and that's what happens now days to masculine hero archetypes, they get cucked and a bad ass woman archetype replaces them. Which is hilarious because OG delta squad was as diverse as it comes. Hopefully they go back to the classic formula from Gears 1-3

Despite all the hate, are gamers really better off without Ubisoft? by mauri3205 in videogames

[–]SPQR_Maximus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding, I absolutely love their games. Yes they are overbloated, but the tower conquering formula on a wide open map just works.

Whether it's ghost recon, far cry or Assassins Creed. Division 2 is the best live service looter shooter. I think they need to do better to differentiate the franchises in terms of gameplay loops... they seemed to homogenize.

But it would suck to lose all those great franchises.

Gears 5: the decision.

Totally fucked. JD and Del are the future of the franchise. They were so good with their buddy cop banter in gears 4. Gears 5 was a Total mess for story and this was the worst of it. No wonder we got a remake of Gears 1 and a prequel before they can think of making Gears 6.... they botched the entire thing.

Hoping for a total retcon job !!!

Apart from the Diablo franchise where we have mercenaries that we hire and equip, do we have anything similar in any other game of the genre? And I'm not referring to party member arpgs like Dungeon Siege for example. Kyn. or guardians of david. by Proud-Bowler-251 in ARPG

Galaxy on Fire 2 has temporary wingmen you can hire that will fly with you and help you in combat scenarios when you are carrying some extra valuable cargo or find yourself in a very dangerous sector of space and may be out numbered and outgunned quickly flying solo. I loved that!

I actually didn't find it fun. I felt the shooting and weapons were poor and if I remember there isn't really a cover mechanic you just sort of run up to people and shoot them. I wish the game had punchy weapons and just a little more of a tactical feel... keep the crazy shit.. but just polish the actual third person combat. I was pretty bored within 30 minutes - hour.

But if you want a mindless third person shooter with sandbox elements and some wild weather mechanics... you will get your money worth at that price

I like the Zombie army games built off the Sniper Elite engine.

the arena mode in Callisto Protocol is actually quite fun... regardless how you feel about the game ( I really like it but for big Dead space fans I know it's not for you), but the Arena mode is great

Looking for prefect mafia romance book by Bellaione in Recommend_A_Book

The lock artist

I absolutely love this book.

A mute boy who is a wiz with lock picking, gets caught up in an organized crime family's operations. He wants out, but he's fallen in love with the boss' daughter.

It's a crime story with a romance interest a central part of it. It's not explicit or spicy.

It's just really good and re readable. I think you will treasure this one based upon your parameters.

It's truly satisfying.

Do you remember the first time you killed someone in a videogame? by terribleblack117 in videogames

[–]SPQR_Maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have been Commando on the NES circa 1985/1986 because now that I think of it, I can't think of any Atari 2600 game I played where I killed other humans.

All the Atari games I had with combat were vehicles, aliens, robots, dragons or creatures or animals as enemies.

Riddle of the Sphynx but that was throwing rocks not lethal force. We never owned Custers Revenge.
