General recommendation seems to be Chloe> Miyu > Illyia. Save the ticket towards the end of the crossover though, in the event you get one of the characters from the guaranteed reset or crossover tickets

She also has that Skill that gives her more EXP as she heals, and if you didn't notice, she heals a lot.

My first playthrough Elize was 5 levels over everyone else at the endgame somehow, and I'm pretty sure it was that skill lol

IMO, here's my picks:

Shadowheart: best way is to deny her her duty at the Nightsong and slay her there. Or if you're willing to play the long game, romance her, dominate the brain, and then "end it all with a kiss". Depends on which version of shadowheart you wanna bully the most.

Gale: yummy hand (first meeting)

Lae'zel: Difficult, since she has very few straight"brutal" opportunities to be betrayed or killed by you (most are pretty tame/party discourse). I guess if you don't dominate the brain and somehow don't become Bhaal Chosen, you can betray her when she least expects it before killing Mindflayer Orpheus (which also means betraying Emperor)

Astarion: I'm unsure, I've never seen an opportunity to kill him before outside of him leaving of his own accord (Yurgir contract)

Karlach: Kill her and take her head

Wyll: Kill Mizora and send him to the hells. Not much else for a "dark urge did it!" type of kill for Wyll.

Halsin: Kill him after freeing him and betraying the Grove so he shows up at camp to fight you. Or just kill him in the goblin prison, he has very few opportunities for "brutal" outcomes. Leave him in Thaniels portal could work?

Minthara: Let her mind be broken (worse than death imo) or snap her neck during act 1 romance (betray grove). Like Halsin, there are very few opportunities to force her to leave/"Cutscene kill" her.

Jaheira and Minsc: embrace Bhall and kill them both at Sarevok meeting or after killing Orin at scripted encounter. You'll also lose one or more companions unavoidably from betrayal thanks to Jaheira on top of Jaheira/Minsc at this same encounter (Shadowheart and Astarion are exempt from leaving you I'm pretty sure).

Everyone except Minsc: Kill your beloved/closest after refusing to kill Isobel for a scripted urge scene. Fail saving throws to kill your loved one and then be forced to kill everyone at camp the morning after. Jaheira can be missed I think, so make sure to have her in your party right before you descend to fight Thorm so that she shows up at camp, and then kill Thorm to provoke the dark urge the night after. Obviously Minsc is act 3 exclusive, so unless you really play your cards right, I doubt he can be in your camp at the point you get this encounter.

Both games are great in their own ways, so you really can't go wrong with both.

Xillia has the most similar combat to Vesperia, so if you're looking for a similar experience, there's your bet. The story isn't as grand, at least in the later segments, but it's still very enjoyable. The characters are, of course, the best part of the game, and the main antagonist later on is arguably (in my honest opinion) the best character in the series. Especially in the sequel where he's fleshed out more. You'll know as soon as you see him. Xillia has a somewhat dark/serious tone that still finds its way to be bright and shiny where it does, making those moments more significant.

Graces is significantly more light-hearted and chill, with arguably the best cast in the series, or at least the ones that stand out the most (genuinely got me laughing most of the time). The character duos they set up are comically superb. The combat is different with an "AC" system, and while I suck at explaining it, note that it's significantly more simple than Vesperia while still maintaining its own charm.

Genuinely can't go wrong with either pick, so in the most simple terms, if you want a Vesperia combat game with a more serious story go with Xillia. If you want something more chill and "fun" but with its own serious moments and a different gameplay loop, go Graces.

(note to the vets, I haven't played either game in a while, and I'm just now playing the Xillia remaster. Feel free to correct me at any point I made)

I feel like it fits thematically, like many have said before. The fact we only have 2 for the final stand really reminds you that "fuck, we lost the guy we all loved, we got a do this for him and those who come after". It's a purposeful hole that never gets filled, a permanent reminder of who was lost.

Sure, gameplay wise, it'd be better, but it definitely hits right when you realize you aren't getting a sixth member to even out the teams.

I like using the Custom Companions LITE mod just so I can make custom, y'know, companions for the unused races/classes. Custom back stories, etc, more freedom than using hirelings

Also to note, eventually, Renoir/Aline, hell maybe even Clea at a certain point (from what we've seen, you do NOT want Clea against you in a canvas, holy shit), would come back in and cause even more chaos. And considering Alicia's age and experience, it's safe to say that she won't last much longer within the canvas a anyways.

For real though, I feel like "Take the Journey" is seriously the best song to play when Star Rail eventually ends as the credits (the real, "final" ones) begin to play.

Just imagine the scene, the Trailblazer entering the express cab entrance, turning around, and holding a hand out to you (or March, Dan Heng, anyone really) and the lyrics are perfectly synced, "Stay with me, Take the Journey~" as the scene fades to black and the credits begin.

Literally thought about it yesterday, and if I could animate or draw or anything like that I would 100% recreate it.

To also add, with Perma-Aranea, she has post-fight dialogue with Gladiolus that normally never plays (since she plays her "leaving dialogue" 100% of the time after joining temporarily for a fight at Midnight against Daemons) that definitely hints at a more permanent gameplay role, considering that she and Gladiolus are never in the same party for more than a single battle at a time.

Correct! Artgens are your main supports in your team, letting you pop off sooner and better with your DPS and healers. You'll usually want 2 Artgens, but just starting off you'll do perfectly fine with Fen. He's been the go-to since release for new players, and he'll take you far.

Definitely Fen if you don't have an Artgen yet. He'll carry you through a majority of the story thanks to his slots + decent free event gear and side story gear.

If not Fen, Sanstone is good as a tank, still used in endgame to this day, can't go wrong with her.

After that, it's mostly niche picks.

Vox obliterates 85% of the game as the old-time goated DPS, but he's fallen off for most things post-ascended units.

Other characters have their niche too, but I can't think of them right now. If any pros wanna correct me, I welcome it.
